I cannot emphasize enough what a negative experience I had here. Estimates for treatment options that I did not agree to were pushed upon me. But the worst part was that, even though my x-rays showed no cavities, the dentist decides that I actually have nine cavities, which I would of course be paying exorbitant amounts of money to have filled. Luckily, I went to a more reputable dentist nearby, who did not try to push any orthodontic treatments and who told me I had one minor cavity. She also told me that I was not particularly cavity-prone, which was the complete opposite of what the dentist here told me. Just a terrible experience here all around. read more

If you have good insurance, be careful with Nexus Dental because they might try to finesse you like they did me. I've been in my union for eight years, and I've never had to pay co-pays for dental work--until I started going here last year. At first, they kept charging me co-pays, which was already suspicious, but the final straw was when they tried to bill me $300 for a procedure that my insurance FULLY covers. I called my insurance directly, and they told me the only reason they didn't cover it was because Nexus Dental didn't follow the guidelines. I wasn't supposed to have two different procedures done on the same day, but Nexus still did it anyway--knowing it wouldn't be covered. That's not my fault--that's theirs. When I refused to pay for their mistake, they sent the charge to a debt collector instead of owning up to it. And that's not even the worst part. I got multiple cavities done here, and one of them was still hurting after the dentist worked on it. When I went back for another cavity, he redid the old one that I had already told them was still causing pain--and they charged me for it. How does that make sense? I didn't mess it up, he did. If the work wasn't done right the first time, why am I the one paying for it again? That should've been fixed for free. A dentist's job isn't just to treat patients--it's to handle insurance correctly and stand by their work. If they can't do that, why should patients have to pay for their mistakes? If you value transparency and honest billing, go somewhere else. read more

I believe Dr.Kahn was the dentist working on me, the bald gentleman and only dentist there. To start, he attempted to hide a syringe of lydocane he would be injecting me with and gave me no heads up. Obviously this was disturbing and when I asked him what that was, he scoffed and rolled his eyes. Disgusting especially considering I was a minor when this happened. DO NOT LEAVE HIM ALONE WITH YOUR KIDS. This was extremely traumatic as you may imagine, and very unprofessional. I hope he reads this and remembers me . Diagnosing severe tooth/mouth pain. I arrived at the office with shooting pain in my teeth. Dr. Kahn took the time to listen to my symptoms, do a thorough examination, order an X-ray, and work me through some diagnostic exercises. I was very impressed with his knowledge and genuine concern. Nexus Dental - General Dentistry Near Me - Maynard, Massachusetts

To be clear, the service I received at Nexus Dental was great. Dr. Kahn was very professional and friendly. Over the course of 4 visits spanning ~9 months, I had a checkup, a couple cavities filled, and a filling that fell out while flossing was fixed. Every time I left, checking in with the front desk, I'd get the cost for the day and pay on the spot. So, 9 months in I went for another visit and was told I had a $700 balance. What?! Nexus Dental doesn't take my insurance, apparently, so these were all the unpaid costs from the prior visits. Whether they would accept my insurance was something I explicitly confirmed at the first visit, and of course the first time you go in, you fill out the sign-up paperwork and share your insurance details, so shame on them. So, upon finding this out there in the office, I was sure it was just a clerical error. I asked the staff if they could call the insurance provider to look into it. What I got instead was just an invoice in the mail from Nexus Dental later that week for that amount. No explanation, no apology for saying they took my insurance but actually don't, no mea culpa for letting me think for 9 months that my insurance was good there. So, no matter how good the dental work is, if the front office is shady then what's the point. read more

As with previous reviewers, my experience with Nexus Dental is quality care, but nearly, if not actual fraud, in accounting. My son has MassHealth Standard and, when searching for a dentist on the state website, Nexus Dental is the first entry and shows that his insurance is accepted by Nexus Dental. Fortunately, my son only had two dental visits before being confronted and presented a bill for nearly $500 because they only took 'Under 21' patients under MassHealth. My son is age 22. Supposedly, they contracted with the state for this arrangement. When asked when this contract took effect, their reply was some time after COVID. They have had plenty of time to correct the error and have chosen not to do so. It was also their responsibility to check my son's dental insurance before the start of the first appointment and they also chose not to. Unfortunately, my son paid the amount they presented because they told him he could not leave until the bill was paid. If possible, I will be filing a complaint with the state. read more

I went to Nexus for the first time recently to have my teeth cleaned. The staff are friendly and the cleaning was thorough and painless. The facility is spotless and they use the latest technology and tools. You even get to watch TV while they work, which is helpful if you're a bit of a baby at the dentist. Shout out to Amy, my hygienist, who was gentle and super professional. The missing star is only because I asked a few different staff members about purchasing teeth whitening (there are signs advertising it in the office) and no one followed through with options or prices before I left. Well, I have concluded I will not return for another visit. Got billed for way more than their "estimates". Seems like they are not clear when checking insurance coverage to clarify what will be done. In my case they installed a porcelain crown but insurer only paid for "non precious metal substrate" whatever that is. Also rejected was "core buildup". While this an issue for insurance. Nexus should have clarified when providing estimate. No interest on their part in a good will adjustment for at least part of bill. So unlike the practices of my previous dentist. read more

I have been a patient with Nexus for going on 5 years ever since I bought my home in Maynard, MA. Nexus Dental has been solid dental practice for me through these years. I liked the spotless office and the pleasant staff even during the pandemic. I had to have more dental work than I am accustomed to during this period and I have to say I am pleased with the experience. I feel like my care has been above board. I also appreciate they are with the times having email and text capabilities as well as electronic dental records. My experience at Nexus Dental was nothing short of amazing. I usually get a bit anxious with sharp pointy things being aimed anywhere near my face but Aimee was spectacular. Ambience was very relaxing, bright areas, nice decor and everything was very presentable and professional. The screens with the relaxing enviornments was also very cool and will work wonders with anyone who gets anxious. All the tools used were very new and high tech, Aimee was calm and collected and did an excellent job with my cleaning with breaks and always asking if I was ok. The level of care I recived was truly top notch and I really felt relaxed and calm during the process. Don't like it. They provided the "estimated prices" has big big gap with the real bills I payed to them. They just keep sending me the new bills. As soon as I told the office manager that we had new insurance since our last visit (which was last month), she became rude and condescending. We do not yet have ID cards for our new dental insurance (Cigna). Cigna's online policy states: "An ID card is not required to receive coverage for dental care but we will assist your dentist with verifying your coverage and filing a claim." The office manager nonetheless demanded that I go find the card so I could give her the ID number and refused to believe it was possible that someone may not actually have a dental ID card. I asked to speak to the dentist so I could let him know why he was about to lose four patients. She said I could talk to her, because she is the office manager and she is charge. She curtly offered to transfer our records anywhere we wanted, without even trying to verify the insurance on her own. She did not ask for any information other than demanding the physical ID card. Needless to say, we are leaving Nexus Dental and are happy to take our business elsewhere. There are plenty of other dentists within 5-10 miles of Nexus Dental that receive consistently high reviews and recommendations on all of the local town groups. Try one of them instead. read more

I've been to probably a dozen different dentist offices and I have to say.. this place is great! Although I was a little nervous at first, they ensured me that all I had to do (if i was in pain or if a cleaning is too rough) was to wave my hand. I'm not a big fan of getting drilled and poked, but their hygienists and dentists are just great! Their bedside manners are professional and calming, and their hygentists are very supportive and checks in on me while I was getting my filling. The topping on the cake is their front desk support! CANNOT RECOMMEND LOWLY ENOUGH. Went in here to get a simple cleaning before my insurance expired. They told me I had four cavities that need to be filled, and I agreed to let them fill the worst one, figuring I'm about to lose insurance so better to get it done. SINCE THEN I have been back to my regular dentist who said that I did not in fact need those cavities filled, AND that, as I suspected from my filling cracking and falling out, Nexus had done a terrible job. NOT ONLY THAT - but they called me after my appointment to say that despite my signing an acknowledgement of charges, and my insisting that they check what my insurance covered, I OWE THEM MONEY. Verrrry suspicious practices. I called back and said I am not paying that, and yet I've received another collection notice in the mail. Disappointing For my first appt, dentist delayed 40 minutes--"traffic." Hygienist and other staff friendly, but cleaning, flossing, and filling not as well done as I've experienced elsewhere. Last straw: they cancelled a 6-month cleaning appt without telling me. I (planned my morning around it and) showed up to learn the office was no longer open on Fridays and hadn't been for months. Person informing me was in only to do paperwork and implied it was my fault, no apology. Update: Found an amazing dental office after this ordeal (Andover Cosmetic Dental), thank GOD. I'm a 27-year-old female. I don't have any major problems with my teeth in general...a cavity here or there, some very minor gum recession, but nothing crazy. I came to Nexus for a cleaning, and then made an appointment for a few fillings upon discovering that I had several cavities. The cleaning: awful. Not only was the hygienist rough, she gave me incorrect information about everything from dental product ingredients to questions regarding basic care of my teeth. When I left the office, I noticed she'd missed some superficial surface staining while polishing, in addition to some plaque still left by the gumline on multiple teeth. The subsequent visit for fillings: HORRENDOUS. I was having two teeth on the bottom filled; I have a very sensitive mouth, and always require extra Novocain when having fillings done. Often, if a procedure is taking place on the bottom jaw, more Novocain may be required, due to the way the mouth/nerves are structured (Google this for a technical explanation)...I normally require 2-3 shots of Novocain on the top, so I would expect the same (or more!) for the bottom. Okay, I'm not trying to be a diva here, but I'd had 6 or 7 fillings/two wisdom teeth pulled prior to this in the past, so I know the way my mouth responds to pain and Novocain. When I sat down for the fillings, it was a hygienist who administered the novocain shot, not a dentist, and she was not very gentle about it. I told her that I ABSOLUTELY ABSOLUTELY NO QUESTIONS ASKED require more than a single shot of Novocain, that I'm incredibly sensitive and not the most responsive to the numbing agent, which is why I require multiple shots (a single shot barely makes me numb whatsoever). After telling her this, she told me not to worry. Since it takes a few minutes between shots for the numbing to take effect, when the hygienist walked away, I assumed she would be back to give me the subsequent doses. Several minutes passed, and I really wasn't numb at all...then the dentist walked in, instructing me to open my mouth. At first I was relieved that she was there, as I was under the impression that she would be administering the next few shots of Novocain (I really didn't feel comfortable with a hygienist doing it)...she told me to open my mouth, so I did...I didn't even see that she had a drill in her hand, and instead of giving me more Novocain, I both heard and felt the cold, violent pain of the drill on my still sensitive tooth. I jumped and yelled, explaining (shouting while crying, lol) to the dentist that I'd only had one shot of Novocain and WAS NOT NUMB. She told me that it was their policy to administer one single shot to start, only giving more if the patient feels pain. I really couldn't register this...so the hygienist lied to me, and their policy is to put people through unnecessary pain? No one even asked me if I was numb prior to starting. Absolutely ridiculous. So she gives me three more shots, and once I was finally numb, went to work on the fillings. I didn't experience any additional pain, but once the numbing went down a few hours later, I noticed that the fillings were very sharp and I could feel them easily with both tongue and finger. Seriously?? I made a follow-up appointment to have the fillings polished down...they came out *better*, but I can still feel them. Going elsewhere to fix these fillings, NEVER going back to Nexus again. read more

This is a brand new facility with top-of-the-line equipment and from top to bottom a staff that is caring knowledgable enthusiastic and professional. I can't say enough good things about this practice and I would certainly recommend it to any adult or child looking for superior dental care, follow through and support. They offer many procedures and are eager and willing to refer clients to other colleagues in the profession for certain specialties. Truly, they place their clients dental health and awareness above all else. They also offer information regarding financing and feature a comfirtable and pleasant waiting area with thoughtful amenities and even a activity area for children. I have been to Nexus Dental a few times now and I have to say that most visits were not good. Not only do they advertise a dentist that doesn't even work there, but the dentists that do work there are weird and ask you questions like "Do you know why you're here?" or "Show me which tooth we need to work on today." Isn't that their job to figure out? Also, I have never before experienced such inconsistency and confusion around billing. You have to be really careful who you talk to at that office, because they will come around and tell you next time that you have a huge bill even though the dentist told you the consultation he recommended is free. The office manager seems nice, but she will always tell you that you may have to pay more eventually and they can never really back that up with any reasonable argument or documentation. I have thought about switching to another dentist for a while now and I'm certainly going to go through with it now. I can not recommend this place. read more
