This location did not answer their phone for 40 minutes when we were unable to find their location. There is no sign on the exterior of the building, only on the street over one block away. It is inside the Toyota repair building and only after much angst and delay did I go in the car repair shop to ask. Further on arriving at the desk, now 40 minutes late, they stayed on the phone. We were so delayed thus unable to rent in time to arrive at family event. No refund, no consideration from the rental company, nor expedia who uses this location. read more

Just returned the car we had for over two weeks and 2400+ miles. The vehicle was in great shape, clean and obviously well maintained. They provided us with the Hyundai Tucson since a Rav4 was not available. It was very well equipped and comfortable to drive. The check in to get the car was easy and only took a few minutes. Gave them a try this past week and rented a full size suv from Thursday-Monday. Walking in to the counter my husband was treated very rudely by the staff. Felt like they did not want to rent to him based on race (he is biracial). He showed his insurance card and the staff member said she had to call to confirm insurance was valid. Meanwhile there was an Asian lady that showed her insurance card and it was accepted without a call to confirm by staff. I would not recommend. read more

If I could give ZERO stars, I would. This was a 'Bait and switch" company and I can't believe I fell for it. I booked a 3-day car rental via Kayak. It was the cheapest, off airport, shuttle type of car booking. When I arrived at NextCar I was informed that "we only accept these insurances" but the agent said he would "see what he can do". After seeing that I have excellent insurance and all of my documents, they accepted it. However, in order to use your own insurance, there was a $15.99 charge for each day of the rental. This charge came to MORE than the original rental itself. The agent said "I know, this company sucks and as of next week, they won't be accepting any other insurance coverage." At that point, I had taken the bait, I was at the counter for more than 30 minutes already and I just wanted to go along with my trip. I have been renting cars for 20+ years and have never seen an "administrative fee" for using your own insurance. Run, do not walk, away from this company. read more

The car was dirty and smelly. I returned the car clean on Saturday after they closed and was charged for using it the full day Sunday. They told me their policy states that they charge customers because they cannot check a car in the only day of the week they are closed. Not only do they close early on Saturday they penalize the customer for dropping the car off after hours on Saturday by charging them for a full day Sunday. Not sure what kind of logic that is but, I have been renting cars for 30 years and was never charged by any company like this. I am providing an additional review for this business. The quoted prices online are very misleading and only want to attract your business. After the car was returned, I was charged an additional $80 for 10 days for an additional driver when they should have deducted it the first time when I picked up the car. They are the only rental company in the DC, MD and VA area that charges you for an additional driver. read more

BE CAREFUL!!! I will give ZERO point if I can. Please stay away from Next Car Rental. It may provide the cheapest price in this area. BUT they must provide the WORST service with the poor condition car. They will try to collect large different fees except your rental price. Please do not just save some pennies and you will lose more and waste lots of time from them. I rent their car with a small scratch. But my insurance would cover it with zero detection. I should pay zero actually because my insurance company would pay it for me. They charged me over $600 without my authority when I returned the car. I don't want to waste time with them. But 500 days later, they sent me and my insurance company a bill. The insurance company denied to pay for it because it had passed more than one year. I told Next Car they should give the bill as soon as possible but they didn't. They just want to charge their customer even if they have their own insurance because I didn't buy the ridiculous 35 bucks/day insurance with 500 detection from them. What is worse, they sent me a debt collection with this bill. Oh My God! I already pay more than $600 which I didn't need pay one penny actually! They give me a debt collection which will harm the credit report for 7 years! Luckily, I have left the US that the credit report is useless for me. But I will definitely sue them if I were in the US now. If you have lots of money and time which cannot use up, Next Car is the good option for you. If you want to destroy your trip and your life, Next Car is also a good option for you. Otherwise, PLEAE stay away from them! read more

DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE! I had a reservation and I went into the store to pick up the car and I put my card in their debit machine and they took my money and told me the card wasn't accepted! As I asked them why the money was taken off my card they responded with very nonchalant attitudes and told me they don't know and there's nothing they can do and both female workers went back to playing on their phones and one girl was eating lunch and on FaceTime with her boyfriend all while she was trying to handle my transaction. The manager didn't want to talk to me and I ended up walking out of the store without a car or my $261.00 and it was raining pretty bad and I had to walk. Horrible experience. Just got read of all my credit cards so I thought I would give next car a try. I called ahead to inquire about the process and was not given a complete picture. The customer service sucks they don't care to make your ex stress free at all. I called and they told me that it was a 150 dollar deposit and if I want to use my own insurance I would have to bring proof of full coverage. That sounds simple enough right? I caught a lift there because they are not picking people up because of coronavirus. That is an inconvenience because someone has to bring you because clearly you can't drive yourself. Then I show up 30 minutes early. She asked for the number to call my insurance and verify coverage. The insurance company told her that it wouldn't cover the rental so I had to purchase their insurance. This was unexpected and was not told to me w I called inquiring about their processes. I moved to the area April 1st 2020 so my license doesn't have my current address. Due to this and my address change card being lost in the mail they said they had to run my card with the old address which would cause my bank to view it as fraud and deny the purchase. They told me that I had to get an address change card from MVA before they would rent to me. They also told me that I had to have two bills with the address matching my license no more than 30 days old. I caught a Lyft to MVA to be told that address cards can only be mailed out and it has been that way for six years. A supervisor told me that I could purchase a driving record and it will have that information on it. So I purchased a nine dollar report. My phone died and I had to walk up the street to a storage place where they just happened to have iPhone charger. I charged my phone and called a lift back to next car. I showEd her what I had. She said that this isn't an address card so I should not accept it. Totally inconsiderate of what I'm having to go through. I showed her my most recent bank statement then my pepco bill was not smartphone capable so it would not come up all the way. She let that slide. I ended up getting the rental but my grandson missed his dental checkup and I was forty five minutes late to m client. I will never rent from them again. I scheduled another rental with hertz and took their vehicle back to them. Hertz just does a credit check to verify your identity and credit score. I hope this helps someone by minimizing tha stress that's involved with renting from nextcar rental. The manager was of no help either. She displayed an i don't care attitude about the whole situation. She didn't give me her name or else I would have shared it with you but it was an average height black woman. This place was horrible! The woman behind the counter was rude and disrespectful. All she wanted to do was get off of work and acted so frustrated when I came in at 3:30 and they close at 4. She tried so hard to come up with ways not to be able to rent the car to me even though I had all the necessary documentation, driver's license and insurance. It was so close to to the end of her day all she cared about was getting off of work and not assigning a car to me because it would take up too much time for her. Horrible horrible horrible experience. And I spoke with and confirm my reservation for a car from Enterprise and with half the hassle. Horrible experience all around!! Lady at the desk was busy snacking and texting on her phone and bragging about how customers call only to speak with her!!I needed assistance and didn't have an hour to waste trying to rent a car...she wanted every bill I pay to have proof of my address! I literally just moved and not everything was changed over so therefore she was giving more problems and wouldn't accept my online purchase! Not worth the hassle!! ENTERPRISE down the street is was more friendly with nicer cars! I have never had a problem with them they even offered to pick me. I didn't end up renting from them after everything!!
