Terrible experience. I needed a rental car after being rear-ended and had to pay out-of-pocket waiting for Allstate to reimburse me. My rental was dropped off on the August 27th due date . I called to obtain my receipt on the 29th via email and was told they added an extra day to the rental. After that was fixed, it's now almost a week later and I still don't have it or my $300 deposit back. When I called today, I was hung up on and when I was able to be place on hold, wait times were ridiculous. Over 10 minutes. Staff do not seem to know how to properly handle calls. Wish I could find a rating lower than one star. They gave me a car that clearly had recent trouble (was written on window) for a 2500 mile road trip with my 2 young children (one with medical needs). Guess what, the car broke down in the middle of nowhere. You'd think the next time I make a reservation they would be a bit more accommodating, but nope, they didn't care that they left me stranded on the last trip and couldn't guarantee a car for me during the time period I needed it (not sure how saying they could find one for the afternoon when I'm returning at 5pm is helpful). Car rentals can be painful. Especially when it's because your car is in the shop! I usually always rent from Enterprise...I have tried a few others but I find Enterprise has the best prices most of the time. This was the first time I had rented from this particular location and after my experience it will be my go to location. I needed to rent a car for 3 days to drive down to FL and back. This was the quickest, painless car rental experiences i've ever had to date. I was in and out in less then 10 min. When returned the car it was even quicker then that. I didn't have an issues with the vehicle and I wasn't charged anything extra the the quoted price. read more

I understand having an accident can be painful and inconvenient. But the salt that the Enterprise in Germantown Maryland puts in your wounds is worse. I've had to deal with this location multiple times and the service just gets worse and worse. They're untrustworthy and will lie to your face while saying you being upset isn't going to fix anything. The only thing I did was point out the inconsistency of the lie I was being told. At the end they penalized us for speaking up by making us wait longer and giving us a car that's broken. read more

I had a terrible experience with the manager of the one near my house. The unfortunately, they seem to be the only company my insurance company has an agreement wiith. Car fobs are placed on a very flimsy wire. The fob came off and was lost. I had mentioned to an employee of Enterprise what I was going to do. She thought it was a great idea. I had the car moved there on a flatbed truck by AAA. It was getting dark by the time the it arrived. They were about 15 minutes from shutting for the night. And the manager had me wait until it was only the two of us. She was coldly angry and coerced me to sign a document re the cost of the keys. She said that she wouldn't help me with Uber. She herded me out the door, and I couldn't locate any taxi service. Having a bad back, I stopped in at the 7-11 across the street--a whole other can of worms. Eventually, I got home. It took me over 30 minutes, but I got there. The piece of paper I had been coerced to sign was gone. Yes, she's human. But her behavior towards me was totally unprofessional. She can be intimidating when enraged. She is probably great at most of her job. But can be scary if you anger her. Too bad, Miss, that you decided to toss out your manners concerning the person you dealt with last. Maybe you figured I was too dumb to know about Yelp and Facebook! I may be old, but I am not so old that I haven't been in touch with Enterprise via Facebook. If I had ever treated a customer that poorly anywhere I worked, I would have faced some major disciplinary action! I will certainly never use that branch as long as you are there, because I don't trust you! When have I ever used that phrase toward a specific manager of a business? Never before! I have had to receive numerous cars from this location and every time i have questioned why i wouldn't have just driven a little bit further to get better customer service and rentals that are available. The place is a complete idiot fest. I made a specific 2 PM reservation to pick up a car to drive to Philadelphia airport to pick up my son. When I got there it was concerning as there were a bunch of people sitting around. There was a lady at the counter arguing about getting a car. I asked people sitting there if they were waiting for a car and many of them said they've been waiting for hours and they didn't expect to have any cars in until much later that day. I asked the person at the counter and they said that they would get me a car sometime in the afternoon when one came back in. They had no idea of when that might be. why do they take reservations with no cars and no expectation of having cars? I had to get a Uber all the way to Philadelphia. I reserved a "Full size car (sedan) or something similar." My pick up time was noon. After waiting 30-40 mins, I was told that they didn't have what I reserved and they gave me an SUV. The SUV I was given was dropped off by a prior customer during my wait time. The interior was sanitized before they gave it to me, however the exterior was filthy and I was told that it couldn't be washed by them. They offered me car wash tokens and told me I can use it at a near by car wash station to be cleaned. Turns out the tokens are for self wash only. A bit disappointed read more

I really REALLY want to give this place more than three stars.. I mean, there was the time my idiot (former) mechanic "thought" they fixed my truck only to find, after having it all day and not testing it, that the problem was NOT fixed. I called Enterprise and they were able to pick me up and get me some temporary wheels until my repairs were completed. Granted, when I called to request a pick-up, I was told that they would have to see if someone was available to pick me up. Ummm... that's kinda your whole marketing thing, so that should be a given. "Enterprise... we'll pick you up!" Remember? Yeah... So, about a month later, my baby is back in the shop and the prognosis is NOT good. Enterprise picks me up from my home and gets me in a car quickly (despite the fact that I'm on back-to-back conference calls on my cell phone, totally being "that person". Sorry guys! It was a very busy day!). The only problem was that the car REEKED of cigarette smoke, despite the "no smoking" stickers posted on either side of the car radio. I know they couldn't control the smoking, but hey, hit that interior with a little Febreeze before you pass it off to the next customer. Which brings me to another point: rarely, if ever, are these cars clean. I don't think I've ever rented a car that has been washed/vacuumed from this location. In fact, on more than one occasion, I've seen someone check-in their rental, and the desk agent will turn around and give the car to the very next person in line who needs a rental. Happened to me during my last visit. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this, but I think because they do such a high volume of business with such a small staff, it makes it difficult to pay attention to the little things... like providing customers a clean, fresh car to drive. It also makes it difficult to do thorough inspections of a vehicle with such a small turn-around time. As a habit, I always examine my rentals carefully, inside and out, and take pictures of every little thing I see while the representative is present, so they won't come back and try to charge me for pre-existing damages that were someone else's fault. The morning I was supposed to return the smoky rental, I found out that my truck needed a part that cost way more than the truck is worth. Great....Now I need to hold on to this rental until I can buy a new truck. I inquired with Jen about weekly rentals and she was able to present me with a few options. She made a recommendation about the most cost efficient option (which she was totally not obligated to do!) and made it easier to make a decision. She said she felt bad about the smoky ride, and offered me another one, which had just been returned, in its place. Jen's superior service and friendly demeanor made things just a little less stressful on a day when I needed it most. Thanks Jen! The biggest problem with this location is that they are SEVERELY understaffed. When you call to request a rental, you reach the Enterprise switchboard who will then transfer you to this location. Even though there are two or three spots at the counter, rarely is there more than one person working behind it. And sometimes, the only staff member behind the counter will be too busy checking her text messages to answer the phone or otherwise help get customers on their way. As busy as this place location gets, they need at least double the staff. One more thing to note: this location is small, and so is their fleet of vehicles, so do not expect to get the same size vehicle that you've requested... especially if you make reservations online. Most of the time, this could work in your favor (free upgrade!). But if you really need to rent a large vehicle, you might not be happy to find out that you only have compact cars to choose from. read more

This time, we rented a small SUV for a cross-country trip, and the service was excellent. We reserved the vehicle online a little over a week before our departure. We did have to wait about 30 minutes for the car on pickup day, because they were VERY busy and had a customer who was complaining about everything, especially that she was in a HURRY and her time was IMPORTANT, then refusing a very clean, prepped car because she didn't like the color!! This meant the rest of us had to wait even longer! The staff remained polite and patient the entire time! I was very impressed, because I would have kicked her overly-important self out on her ass. We were given a NEW vehicle, less than 6000 miles on it, and very clean except for the new car sticker residue. This was for our cross country road trip, and it performed exceptionally well. The staff was very polite, and yes, they talked us into the extra protection, which we usually refuse, but considering the remote areas we were going to be driving, we thought it not a bad deal for an extra $5 per day. We've used Enterprise probably a dozen times or more over the last 15 years. We've had mixed experiences, but for the most part, we've been able to work out any disagreements. Sometimes the cars aren't as clean as they should be. I've had an experience where a rental had a half-chewed cigar butt in the ashtray and the vehicle reeked, and another time with cracker crumbs and a sticky lollipop under the seats. But those times are the exceptions, and I made sure they knew about it. I've used other rental agencies on occasion and had the same ratio of good/bad experiences. The busier the staff is, the more likely things are going to slip through the cracks, and when a customer demands their car immediately, then complains if it hasn't been cleaned 100%, it creates a negative review. But it takes time to clean a car thoroughly. Add a late return to that time, and you might have to wait 1/2 hour more to get a clean car. And if a return is even later?That creates a situation for the employees that they can't always control. They don't have the biggest fleet (look at their small parking lot!), so if you want a bigger selection, you may have to go somewhere else. I always recommend ordering your car in advance if possible. If you just walk in, you may not get fast service, and probably won't get the car you want! This location seems to be busy enough that a bigger staff would be a good idea...or at least a bigger cleaning staff, to keep the cars rolling through and customer ready! But we've never been treated rudely, and I've never seen a staff member treat a customer rudely. I've certainly seen plenty of rude customers! read more

I rented a 2019 Nissan Versa from the Enterprise located at 19801 Frederick Rd. Germantown, MD 20876 on Wednesday January 08, 2020. The contract was for 3 days and the car died on me WHILE DRIVING on Thursday January 09. Enterprise was supposed to tow it and I was advised by Enterprise that I did not need to remain with the vehicle as long as I locked up and took the keys with me....which I did. The next day when I called to get a replacement I was informed that Enterprise didn't have the car and I couldn't get a replacement until the Versa was found. Multiple phone calls later Enterprise had me file a police report for a stolen vehicle and on Monday it turned out that Enterprise did tow the car and it was in their possession this entire time. Now the branch wont give me back my deposit back....plus I had to pay for Uber to get home that night....missed work on Friday...Not to mention that they rented me a faulty car that could have killed me. I have been calling for my refund this entire week and the branch manager is un-cooperative at best...even the staff is rude...this guy today told me to call Donald Trump for resolution. Its a pain to deal with this location. I use enterprise for work a lot and usually get my booking at the airport. This is the first time I booked through this location and I have to say even Budget at Tampa airport was better than this place. First, they booked pick up at 5pm. When I called to request an agent come get us from our house they said they wont be doing that due to COVID. Understandable but why do alllll your emails say that you are still offering that service? Their representative made it sound like I was stupid to go by the emails and not use my own common sense (Yeah, I know). In the same call I was told I should come in around 4 because the location closes at 5. Then why give us an option to book at 5? I said thats fine but in that case my husband will be there at 3 30 because thats when I can drop him off before my appointment. They said thats fine but that also resulted in the drop off time being moved to 330 the week after. Now, why did my drop off time change when I was TOLD by your representative to take the car earlier than I had scheduled it to be picked up? If you are asking customers to pick early so you dont have to deal with the inconvenience of working till 5pm then maybe let us bring the car back when we had originally booked it for which was based on our work schedules. Anyway, I was told yesterday that the manager will call me back before closing yesterday to figure out my drop off time or at least tell me how much extra it will cost me to bring it back late but I nevere received that call. I called myself at 4 45pm to make sure I get a hold of someone before the location closes but I stayed on hold till 5pm and no one came to the phone. Went to Enterprise after few months and immediately noticed the change. This place used to amazing when Steve Hutira was the branch manager. I have been using enterprise for a very long time and very often at times. When Steve was the GM, as soon as you walk in, every employee will greet and acknowledge me. That has miserably changed. As I walked in today, there were no welcomes, no eye contacts. Got a filthy, dirty, scratched minivan which had transmission issues all the way to south. Looks like some employees were more worried about their looks then their car appearances or customer service. Anyways one thing for sure, I will never be renting from enterprise again, Steve was an asset and was doing a great job in running that branch smoothly but other than that nobody wants rude service filthy cars. Avis is 3 miles down the road. I rented for a month from enterprise last month and had a bad experience but wanted to give them another try specially since I had more then enough points for a week worth of rental. The associate who did my paper work also told me that I need to return the car at the same location or else I will be charged $100-150 more, which is obviously not true. When I called them, I clearly said I want an American car as I like their comfort and drive and also if possible I need a car with in video system but that did not happened and I ended up with a beat up sienna Again, this place used to be amazing with great staff to include Steve, Linda and Ashley. Don't know what happened to them but they are not there any more which is a big NO NO I am extremely sorry for leaving a negative review but I believe this is needed and some things surely needs to be worked on. read more

Everything was scheduled and set for my trip but when we arrived to pick the car up, all of a sudden, they wont honor our discount! This was the worst thing that could have happened because of the tight trip budget. Koby, the employee who rudely dealt with us, did not do anything to help the situation. I was here several weeks ago to get a rental car for an insurance claim. I was told I was a "VIP" client and received excellent customer service from the people here. I was told that I could only drive a certain vehicle since I was under 21 (I'm 20), so I said that that was ok. Today I came here for a personal rental and they said that they would not rent a car to me since I am under 21. I told them that I had just rented a car with them and that there was no problem back then. The lady at the desk (Heather, I believe) explained to me that since it was an insurance claim, different rules applied and that since this was a personal rental there was no way that they would rent to me. Let me state for the record that I COMPLETELY understand that the associates working here have no power (unfortunately) to bend the rules and cannot do anything about them. My complaint is the manner in which the associate treated me. She showed no sympathy in or interest in solving my situation, and when I calmly expressed how asinine Enterprise's policy is, she simply told me to "have a nice day". To me it seems ridiculous that I can drive one of Enterprise's cars during an insurance claim and they will not let me drive THE EXACT SAME CAR as a personal rental. That means that simply because a car insurance company isn't fronting and insuring the bill, I suddenly lose Enterprise's trust as a customer with one of their vehicles. Not only do I lose the ability to give Enterprise my money and use their (very helpful and necessary) services, but I lose the polite and professional care of the employees working there. I go from being a supposedly "VIP" guest to being some kid that needs to stop wasting their time. I feel that the associate treated me dramatically different when she found out I was under 21, and that therefore I automatically could not be a paying customer. My father was with me and he asked if he could rent the car instead. He was told that he could rent it, but that I could ABSOLUTELY not drive the car. The manner in which she said this was quite insulting to me, as if she was saying that it would be completely heinous should I (God forbid) get behind the wheel of an Enterprise car. Even though my father and I understood that she is merely representing Enterprise's interests and protocols, we commented to her how just a few weeks ago I ACTUALLY DROVE one of Enterprise's cars. She told us that "it is completely different" when that happens. So, according to Enterprise and it's employees, one day I can drive the car just fine, and the next day the very thought of me getting behind the wheel of that same car is comparable to dividing by zero. The employees are, of course, glad to enforce this double-sided philosophy with their two-faced personalities; Heather cheerfully attended another (OLDER, obviously) customer after she told me to "have a nice day" (which I know from personal experience as a customer and employee to be the service industry's equivalent of telling me to go "F" myself). The fact that I cannot personally rent a car from Enterprise but can still drive one of their cars through this insurance claim loophole, is a testament to the inconsistency of their policies. In addition, the two-faced treatment that I recieved today from Heather is representative of Enterprise's disproportional and biased customer service. Enterprise limits itself by its own rules and mentally handicaps itself with these ludicrous policies, hurting their ability to serve and assist a (paying) customer in need. Enterprise (and its competiton) needs to understand that by limiting themselves they cause a major hindrance to someone that they could've helped (and made a profit from). I spent $15 on a taxi to get to Enterprise, only to have to spend another $15 dollars to get back. In my case, Enterprise's lopsided guidelines left me at a quantifiable loss and, quite literally, on the street. Obviously, "Customer Assistance Representatives" like Heather and her colleagues couldn't care less about my situation. This problem is not only at the customer service level, but also at the corporate level. There's a chance that someone my age will come in to this Enterprise TODAY and get a rental car simply because they are renting through an insurance claim. They could've been standing right next to me. These age-limit policies are terribly designed and speak poorly of whoever came up with them. I will be turning 21 in a couple of months, and will be giving a second thought to giving Enterprise my money. Let me state that I do not feel happy to be writing these comments here, and I expect Enterprise employees to understand that they've left me powerless in this situation; I am merely sharing this so that fellow customers can make a better decision, and so that Enterprise managers can use their power to improve the Enterprise experience. Need to hire more associates. Having 1 or two people at the checkin/checkout desk is not enough. If you're on a time crunch, arrive 30min earlier then you planned to leave. There is too much small talk at the desk causing even more of a delay. I have been there only on the weekends, so im not sure how busy it gets during the week day. They know on weekends they get swamped, yet they do not plan to have enough employees there. Both times ive gone within the same some month, and the line was at least 10 people ahead of me. Whats worse is a lot of these people don't even have reservation and are just walk-ins. Poor planning on Enterprise for not being better prepared. There should priority lines for those with reservation and drop offs, and not all be in one line. read more

The process is humiliating because there is lack of privacy and everyone can hear your interaction, insurance and credit information. Not sure why enterprise makes the process of renting a car so complicated by asking for pay stubs and calling instance for declaration information. It results in a really long wait for your car. I rented a car from The German Town location four months ago on a month to month contract. Rental agreement number 1FND6M. I happen to be in the Chico CA area in the subsequent 3 months during which I reported to the location in 2267 Esplanade Chico for re-writes of my month to month contracts. My visits were to give information for the re-writes, oil changes and giving them the paperwork for the oil change. In other words, I have been there more than 4 times. In all occasions I spoke with the branch Manager Josh Crane. He will do the walk around and send milage information to the Germantown office via email or intranet. (He admits that he has done that procedure at least 3 times meaning that if the Germantown Office had updated their system information based on what Josh provided; I would have been current on the 25 of of August 2015. To my greatest dismay when I showed up this morning August 25th 2015, (I even went out of my way to get to The Esplanade office). I was asked to turn in the keys and my contract was terminated. What made matters worst was the fact that I had loaded the car up the brim to start a 2800 mile trip back to Maryland. Heather said I bridged the trust by not showing up for the re-writes and for that reason and the fact that my Credit Card was cancelled; my contract was terminated prematurely. I was asked to get all my stuff out of the car and nobody listened to me when I explained that the closest place where I could stay the night was 2 hours away in Sacramento CA. I felt like a hostage. My brain froze for a moment as I digested the impact this was going to have on my plans On Wednesday the 19th of August, going through my bank statement, I found out that the Visa Credit Card which I used to rent the car was compromised so I called my bank... The card was cancelled. I knew this will not be an issue with the rental car because my next payment will be due around September 11th, by which time I would have not only returned the car, I would have picked up my new credit card as well. If Heather had ran the Credit card on the 6th of August when Josh sent the re-write information in; But it was not done and now I am held responsible for that gross level of negligence. The good thing is that the card will be over-nighted to me; its already after hours at my billing address; if not, the card would have already been on its way to me here in Chico, CA. Josh as well as his colleagues will testify to the effect that I have been to their office more than 4 times (Checking to see if my re-writes) was ready. I have also stopped there to give them copies of the documentations for the two oil changes that I made. I even wash the car and bought a floor mat for it. (I do not know anyone who will do that with a rental car and look at what I got for that. I lost my appetite and almost got sick from the heat. I made so many phone calls I had to beg to gain access to the car in the heat (just to charge my phone). The Germantown office hung up the phone on me and put me on hold until they shut down for the day when I asked to get the phone number of the Regional Manager. I never got the phone number. I do not work for Enterprise and so if I show up for a re-write to be done; I expect (Josh in this case to send the correct information in the correct format of which I have no idea) to the branch in Germantown. This he claims he did, The Germantown office however failed to update my records based on the information that Josh provided hence my hostage situation. Enterprise says they treat their customers the way they are supposed to be treated..if you ask me, I have a completely different opinion about that. Instead I would say I was treated in an inhumane manner; held hostage I was sweating in the heat in an attempt to charge my phone in order to keep in communication with corporate which I never succeeded to accomplish. I was never allowed to run the car and stay cool while going through this debacle for over four hours. I have since talked with the supervisor for the month-to-month program Her name is Monda and she promised me a Regional manager that oversees the Germantown office will give me a call. It was around 4:30 pm Eastern and the corporate office is closed for the day. For what I was going through; I cared less which Regional manager overrode the decision... Well, Nobody did and so I ended up without a car. Please, look into this situation and in your attempt to find a solution, please, ensure that nobody else is given such a treatment. read more

The car I rented last week was a VW Jetta, and it was clean... in excellent condition. It was just the right car for the two days I was in the Germantown area. The staff was friendly and efficient. I was able to return the car after hours. Once home again I was sent the final payment confirmation, showing I had returned the car and confirming my charges as quoted.
