I was in an accident in Philly with two cars I rented from Avis. The streets are pretty narrow in the city and both cars were much larger than I am used to. I wasn't worried since I had paid an extra $30 plus per day for insurance. They got what they could from my insurance and said someone would get back to me about any charges I would be responsible for. Then more than 2 months later without any warning they charged over $4,000 to my credit card. When I spoke to 4 different people in customer service they were rude and not knowledgeable. They kept insisting on me giving my information repeatedly and then told me to call a different number that was transferring back to the same customer service. I tried to explain that's how I kept getting the same people. But, they didn't know why the phones were ringing back to them. I spoke to a "supervisor" who told me the car wasn't returned for a month. I had the first car 4 days and the second one less than a day. This person also said "it's not our fault that you got in an accident". No, but they should be better at dealing with the aftermath as it is part of their daily business. I will never rent from them again. My insurance increased and they charged me more than $4,000. Obviously I am embarrassed about the accidents and instead of trying to get a 3rd car, I paid an Uber $280 to drive me back home. The $4,000 charge from Avis was more than twice what my credit limit was at the time. Why is that allowed? I am dealing with that with Chase while I try to reach someone at Avis. They way this has been handled is unacceptable. Fortunately I have emails that will prove the car was not kept for as long as they said and the fees are greatly overinflated. read more

Stay away. One person works. I got here to return a vehicle and the employee opened the door and it's been 10 min and has not returned to even ask what we need. I'm still waiting. I was here yesterday with one person behind the desk, and three people ahead of me. I waited almost a full hour before I was able to leave. This has to be one of the worst experiences renting a car that I have ever had. Management needs to realize that they are short staff. It doesn't take a four year degree to realize that. I am thankful I was helped and able to get a car. UPDATE: employee came back after 15 min, while on his cell phone, visibly high. Did not offer an apology with three ppl waiting. I come here regularly to pick up a rental and avoid the trip to Reagan airport. This location is consistently under staffed. The team at the counter is the same as the person giving out the car. Hence there is always a long lead time between each customer. Avis should really do something about this prime location if they don't want customers going across the street to Hertz. read more

This is one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I rent a car regularly for both work and personal trips. I regularly use budget/Avis and usually have a decent experience. But this place is the worst. I reserved a car two weeks in advance. And when I showed up they had my reservation in the computer but didn't have a car. Then when I came back to pick up an available vehicle, THAT car they "accidentally" gave it away. Then when I came back a third time I was given a car that was dented, scratched and dirty. There were stains in all the seats and it smelled like cigarette smoke. Then while on my trip I turned on the AC and spiders came out of the air vent. Talk about a nightmare of an experience. I ended up here after blowing out a tire and needing a rental ASAP. They were the only rental car company in the area that had a car available. I am thankful that I was able to drive away with a decent car, but wouldn't return unless I was in another desperate situation. I was charged twice the price that I normally pay for a rental for the day. Since I was short on time, all I could do was cringe and hand over my card. They are terribly understaffed. Prepare your self to wait... endlessly.... They have one person behind the desk that takes calls and helps people one by one. They have no sense of urgency and make you feel like your existence is an inconvenience to their day. Be sure to hold onto your rental paperwork. I got the car with 3/4 of a tank gas. I returned it with the same. The employee told me that my vehicle was marked as having a full tank... um no. Luckily, after digging out my paperwork, I was able to show him how it was marked as 3/4 tank. Had I not had that on me, I would have had to pay additional fees. After waiting so long in line, this was not something I wanted to deal with. read more

I wish I had read these reviews before I rented here as they are pretty spot on. Avoid this place if you can. The only service agent at the desk, Erman O. was not very friendly or personable. I felt that he had a terrible attitude throughout and it was not pleasant dealing with him. Also, I had booked the reservation online, and used coupon code which I then prepaid before picking up. Upon picking up my vehicle, I was told this specific location did not take the coupon which didn't make sense to me, because I had to enter in the location I was renting from in order to redeem the code. It was annoying to book a reservation at an expected price that was not honored. I was charged the extra amount and contacted customer service nearly a week ago to see if I could get refunded, but no response. Avoid this place! The guy manning the desk, Emran Qureshi is extremely RUDE. They should fire him. He is not supposed to be working anything related to Customer Service. I had to wait for 45 minutes. I asked him are you the only person working since there were so many people in line waiting for their turn. He responds 'how does that matter'! I told him we've been waiting for so long. He said 'it's your choice, do you want to pick up the car?' when i replied that this is not acceptable, he went on to say 'if you don;t tone down, you will not get the car'. All i had asked him was to see if he could get some help and he was so rude and loud. This behavior was not just for me, but for the women ahead of me too. They didn't update her card details and he kept saying loudly 'you card is declined' repeatedly even when she mentioned the card details was changed. read more

Avis is usually on top of it but DO NOT visit this location! There is one gentleman working and he moves at a leisurely pace. If he was thorough or provided some personable interaction I might be able to understand the long wait time but he provided about as much customer service as the floor mat I was standing on. He charged my card without explaining the additional charges and the receipt had no itemization. Usually when I wait in line for that length of time, I'm going on a roller coaster. This is a great little hidden rental place. It seems like every time we come they only have 1 employee working. They gave us a brand new Ford explorer. Had only 30 miles on it when we got it. Deffinetly better than the Enterprise we left before coming here that gave us terrible service and did not give us the car we had reserved. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Waited over an hour when there was only one person being helped ahead of me. Once the clerk finally did get to me, he locked himself out of the computer system and said he was waiting to get his password re-sent to him! I asked him to transfer my reservation from Budget to Avis, which he began the process of, only to be incapable of using the POS system which he then tried to blame on my credit card. I had enough. Ended up swapping my rental car at this location as I had some issues and also needed something a little larger to carry stuff for work. I was greeted by a guy named Marlon who listened to me, understood my problem, and went above what I was asking for to correct the issues I was having. First of all, this rental company is really needed to be more helpful and kindness. I recommend everybody not to use their prepaid option. You already paid for it but when you came to the location, you couldn't pick up the car because you do not have a major credit card. It will take 10 days to get refund. The local staff, customer service and even the billing department rep. are totally unhelpful. Enterprise is much better service. read more

December 31, 2015, Went to pick up a rental car that i had reserved for over two weeks. The attendant tried to get me to purchase $28.99/day insurance and when i refused because i wanted to use my own insurance then he said that he was not going to rent the car to me because my credit car last name did not match the last name on my new license. I told him that i just got married and had not received my new credit car and have just rented the previous week with the original last name. I offered to pay in cash but he couldn't care less about damaging my entire new years eve and weekend plans. This little men is heartless and I wish he pays for what he did to a loyal customer for so many years. I will never rent from budget or Avis again. They should have a record of all the time i have been renting there for so many years- for personal and business reasons. I hope they go out of business for treating customers like that. If you value your time and care about customer service DO NOT GO to this location. Even if there only one customer in front of you, you have to wait for a very long time.There is only one person working behind the counter who takes his time arguing and disrespecting customers. He was very nasty and a bully with no training in customer service (I don't know his name - just know he is very short). I cannot and will do business with a company that hires people like that to interact with customers. The cars are always dirty and with no gas, and after renting it i had to spend about one hour cleaning it and refilling it,something they should do themselves. Often they will find a reason not to rent you a car even if you already had a reservation. Customers should not be humiliated and disrespected. read more

My American Express card was erroneously charged at this location. American Express found in favor of me twice and credited the amount back to my account. However, Budget continues to send me harassing letters to pay anyway. Now they tell me I'm barred from renting at Avis, Budget, and Payless Car Rentals. No problem there! read more

DO NOT GO to this Avis / Budget Rent a car store! You have other options such as Enterprise. I reserved a box truck in preparation to move days in advance. I arrived a few minutes before they open at 10am Saturday. The African American male associate came out from the back late, had an attitude and did not care about providing any customer service. I gave him my info and within a minute, he told me they do not have the key to the truck I had reserved. Instead of looking for a spare, check the night drop off box, call around nearby Avis/Budget stores to help me locate another similar vehicle, (as most other rent a car places would do in this situation) he told me to step out of line and call the main customer service number. I asked him why couldn't he go into the computer system to locate another vehicle. At this point, he took another customer and told me he was unable to help with a terrible tone of voice. Other customers behind me shook their heads. I ended up calling their customer service and cancelled my reservation. In this area, you have a ton of rental car places. I've been renting for business for over 20 years. This was the absolute worst experience! read more
