Its motto is "We change lives," and I can attest that it changed mine. I hadn't exercised regularly for years when I joined. Now I'm fit and strong and many pounds lighter without "dieting." In addition, though I work hard there, I also have fun. At PF, one always works out under the guidance of a trainer. There are different kinds of classes, from strength training/cardio to tabata/toning to step or zumba or yoga. There are classes of different sizes. Some are as small as four people. The trainers are all very tuned into how each of us is doing and always have suggestions for modifying an exercise that doesn't work for any particular situation. Part of what makes PF special is the sense of community that Liza, the owner, and the other trainers have created. This is such a supportive, friendly place. I cannot imagine my life without Progress Fitness.

After 10 years I was hesitant to make a move but Liza and her staff made me feel welcome from the beginning. In the past year I've made friends with many of the members and classes fly by because they are tough, but fun. At 55 years old, I feel like I am in better shape than I was at 45. Whether you are looking to lose some weight or just tone up and improve your physical well-being, this is the place for you.

Wish I would have looked the reviews before joining. Don't take the word of employees... read…read moreeverything. They will try to rush you through the signup online and not be honest about what you are getting. Management has zero customer service skills. Should not be working with the public. Too many options to patronize a poorly run place like this...

A lot of the negative reviews were years ago and pertained to this locations hours which has changed. Basic Gym. Pretty standard crowd. Not really a bodybuilder's place but easily could be. Half decent music playlist, no ads in between songs is a huge plus. Lots of variety when it comes to dumbbells, plates and cable accessories. Tons of room and space to work around others. Gets pretty crowded around 4-7 pm as expected. 95% of the people going here are legit about lifting. I'd say the other 5% is younger high school kids just socializing and screwing around who don't know how to rack their weights. Seems to be the case at almost any gym. Gym is relatively massive, kinda lacking in water fountains if you ask me. Only one water fountain per floor and they have rather poor water pressure but really who cares that much, they get the job done. Finally if you're looking for a gym with a sauna, honestly I'm not sure I would recommend this location. Yes they have one. But it seems it's abused by fellow lifters. I've been a member for probably 5+ years at this point and the men's sauna at least, has consistently been in and out of operation. In managements defense however, if I were running a gym, I'm not sure I would keep dumping money into something so under-appreciated anyway. Im not sure how I would resolve this personally. Either run the sauna during staffed hours or look at upgrading to a wet sauna. Probably wicked expensive though. 24/7 hours is a huge plus although previous members weren't grandfathered into that and had to pay upgrade fees. Not the end of the world. Staff is pretty chill and they tend to stay busy, either cleaning the locker rooms or re-racking the weights of those 5% high school kids I mentioned earlier. Also they got rid of the stair master, poor decision in my opinion. They also offer personal training and I think barre classes or whatever it is and there is a separate salon business in the same building. Pretty cool little community gym. It would be cool to see them support local charities or fundraisers. Overall, it's a great gym and it beats the other local spots in the Harrisburg area. A dynamic and affordable gym.
