Tommy just came through for us again. My son Eric was driving the old Tahoe and started noticing a coolant leak. He diagnosed it as a water pump and we gave Eric the number for Quantum. Tommy took it in, diagnosed it as a shot water pump and gave me a quote with options for replacing with an original Chevy part or a less expensive aftermarket that he knew to be reliable. Frankly, the quote was hundreds less than I expected. I am a fairly decent mechanic and would gladly pay his quoted price. He got the work done the day he was able to diagnose the problem. On time, exactly as quoted and functioning perfectly. I have recommended Quantum to friends for a decade and they all agree that you get honest work done right at a fair price. Everything you need in a mechanic shop!

Engine wasn't starting immediately after turning the key. They performed their analysis and recommended a new starter and battery cables, for which they wanted to charge me $1,400+. I previously had the MC there for the same problem and, after $400+ in analysis charges, it was a $20 gas cap. Wanting a second opinion, I scheduled an appointment with Quantum. Due to their high volume of work, I had to wait 2-1/2 weeks, but the wait was well worth it. Tommy, the owner, looked at the battery cables and starter and said there was no problem with them. However, apparently some General Motors vehicles have this starting problem. Not enough fuel is getting to the fuel injectors when the key is turned. He pressure-checked the fuel pump and found it to be the problem. Rather than spending $1,200+, he showed me how to ensure the injectors have enough fuel so the engine will start on the first turn of the key. I've had cars serviced over 50+ years and Tommy is the first mechanic that took his time to fully explain the issue and the solution. He knows what he's doing and most importantly, he's honest. You can't go wrong with Quantum Mechanix.

The owner immediately denied any responsibility, claiming the damage must have happened before I dropped it off--citing some food wrappers and a towel as the reason a rodent would be attracted. That excuse is insulting. The idea that I somehow missed a rat actively destroying my back seat before bringing it in is absurd. Rather than owning the situation or taking accountability, they were defensive and dismissive. The only gesture offered was a $100 discount, which felt like a weak attempt to avoid the issue rather than make things right. If you're trusting a shop with your vehicle, you should feel confident it's being cared for--not left in conditions where rodents can destroy it.
