Charming & Timeless - A Gem in Middletown…read more The Sorg Opera House in downtown Middletown, Ohio, is a truly beautiful venue. While it could use a bit of repair and restoration in places, that doesn't take away from its unique charm and great atmosphere. We attended a concert there and were so pleased with the experience. The staff was welcoming and friendly, and the setting really transports you back in time--this historic space, built in the late 1800s, has an old-world elegance that's hard to find these days.

As you walk the hallway to the theater space, you can feel the atmosphere. Then when you walk in to the theater, you are welcomed with an absolutely stunning view of the three+ floors of visual nirvana. The space is stunning and I'll be the first to admit that It for sure needs some serious TLC. As we talked to folks, they all state that you should have seen it before we started cleaning it up. It is a work in progress so things will get updated as they can. Once the lights dropped and the band started playing, the acoustics in this building was amazing!! We wandered around from the floor to second floor and the audio sounded phenomenal regardless of where you are seated. Dating myself here but I feel like Statler and Waldorf(muppets) should be heckling from the boxes. We will for sure go back. If it's cold outside, wear a jacket or bring a blanket as it gets kind of chilly in here. They are working in that too so that suggestion may no longer be needed.

They gave me a guest card for Fred Astaire Dance Studio. I went with them to a guest party. And WOW! Do these people know how to PARTY! The staff was great, but the students where even better. Great shows, great people! This live theater venue does not disappoint. Located in the heart of Lebanon, it is located in the old Goodwill building behind the Golden Lamb. Before a show, you can check out any of the restaurants in the area and walk to the theater. Go get dinner at the Golden Lamb or ice cream at one of the cute shops in town. All are within walking distance from the theater. There is a parking lot to the right side of the building, as well as additional parking across the street from the theater. Check out their website for upcoming shows. It would be smart to buy those tickets in advance, but you might be able to walk up the night of the show to purchase a ticket. It just depends on the show and what evening. Great theater in the heart of Lebanon!

I'll do it like this: Is it scary? If that's what you like and you get scared, then yes. It is. If you're not easily scared and you like haunted houses for what they are, you will have a great time. Is the decor good? it is fantastic. Are the people good? Absolutely. They do a phenomenal job. Make up and costumes are great. How cool of a job would that be?!?!? Is it worth the money? Absolutely. If I remember correctly, it does take 15 to 20 minutes to get through it. They do space people out so you're not shoved up against, or being shoved by, a bunch of strangers. Would I go back? Totally. This is great fun every year. I'd suggest getting there early though. The line, although it moves steady, can get long and the wait can be quite long. Can't tell you how long because we always try to get there as early as possible. I would not say that this is exactly an "accessible" place for wheelchairs, scooters, etc. I could be wrong, but I know there would be some challenging areas for those types of accessibility aides.

To me, this is not a problem. What *IS* a problem is the quality of the picture being presented last night in Theater 1. The projector's bulb is obviously going, or the projector is very poorly maintained in other aspects. The result was a screen image that was dim, vignetted, and out of focus. I informed the people at the concessions counter, and their response was, "Yeah, it is." I didn't ask for a refund, but I feel that I should have. Look, I willingly pay for the over-priced popcorn and concessions so that I can help keep this local gem alive...but if I can't SEE the movie, what's the point?
