Built in 1837 as a warehouse and store, it has housed a saddlery, the post office, the newspaper and a tavern. It became a building for popular entertainment in 1926, when it was converted to a movie theater. The theater closed in 1955. In 1983, a group rejuvenated the building. Today the theatre present films, live performances and hosts civic events." The theater is not very large, but it is always entertaining to visit whatever show they are presenting, especially plays that feature locals. I've been to it several times and always enjoy myself. They always offer seasonal shows for the holidays, and serve as a venue for "The Shows of Second Saturday" each month, which is a series of concerts featuring a variety of music styles. They occasionally use the theater to show old movies as well. If you happen to be in town when the theater is presenting something, it is well worth a visit.

In light of 1 Peter 3 and Romans 6, the Ark represents baptism, and baptism is where your curated self goes to die. You don't walk through this exhibit to marvel at Noah the faithful hero; you walk through it to be exposed. Like the Samaritan woman in John IV, you leave feeling as though God has just laid bare every dark, hidden thing you've ever done--the buried shame, the secret motives, the precise things you are desperate to keep hidden. The climax of the experience is the immediate, inescapable exposure of humanity's true condition. God REFUSES to give you a comfortable consumeristic experience. Instead, you are confronted with the raw, scandalous reality of Noah passed out, naked, and drunk in his tent (the ultimate icon of unmasked shame) followed by the immediate, ugly fracturing of the family, relational dysfunction, melodramatic curses, and gut wrenching estrangement. Thank you to whoever decided to provide this disgusting (but extremely biblical/candid) portrayal of Noah in Kentucky! Many of the extra exhibits around the ark are extra money of course. The little zoo was nice. The inside was loaded w/ things to see. If you read it all it would take all day. The photo op at the beginning comes out to about $35. Also, many of the prices in the gift shop was very high. One aspect I thought was kind of odd was the unusual number of dinosaurs displayed in the ark. You would think there were more dinosaurs back then then most of the animals we are familiar with. Maybe it's just a way to attract the kids attention. It would be cool if they had a time-lapse video of the construction, and maybe I missed it. The buffet was definitely worth hitting up. All the food was actually good. I had no complaints and the staff kept most things very fresh. There was plenty of options and many drinks to choose from as well. The desserts were all tasty as well. Donut holes were a kid fave. Tons of seating too.

I found this winery by chance. I was going to a tea party at a nearby lavender farm and drove by…read morethe winery and gave it a look. The property was beautiful. As I drove down the driveway toward the tasting room, I took in all of the gardens and the grapes that were growing. When I got there I walked along a path that was lined with greenery and flowers. When I got inside, I was greeted by the owner Tony. Tony was lovely and so helpful, he explained the different wines, and they were clearly marked for sweetness level or for how dry they were on the sheet where you chose your samples. I did choose four samples to try, and I really liked one of them. I am more of a sweet wine gal, and I have been trying to branch out a little bit, but I'm just not there yet. And talking to Tony I found out that his son is also in the wine business and he is in the wine business in California. Tony also sources some of his grapes from California. I also found out that he has three Airbnb's on this property one is over the tasting room and then two are at the front of the property. It was so beautiful there and I ended up bringing a couple of bottles of wine home. I also ate my lunch there, but they do not have a food license so I picked some local cheese that they had in a refrigerator and some summer sausage from a sausage maker in Cincinnati and he handed me a knife and cutting board so I made my own charcuterie and it worked out perfectly. There were so many lovely places to sit outside and have my lunch but it was about 90° and not much breeze so I ended up staying in. If I am ever in this part of Kentucky again, I will stop for another late lunch and wine tasting! Kudos to Tony he did a wonderful job.
