I told her I was there for the surprise bag. Said she hadn't made any yet. No problem. Well she kept setting up. I just sat at the small sexy bar. Well it took her some time to set up the surprises, I like they don't use styrofoam, who is a nice small paper box Very sad when I got home the grapes look like they had something on them and my husband wiped it. It was filthy dirty we wiped a few and it literally was never rinsed or anything. Very sad.

She explained that the day I had visited they had a few hiccups, and to make things right, she invited me and my friends back. I'm glad I accepted, because this time we had a much better experience. We were served by Orin and Marcello, who were both friendly and attentive. Orin, in particular, went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. We had a few wine flights, which was perfect since they have a nice selection of reds, whites, and rosés. Alongside the wine, we enjoyed a cheese and meats plate that was beautifully put together and very tasty. Their house jam, definitely ask for it if you're a fan, it was delicious! We also tried the burrata fig salad, which leaned on the sweeter side but was still very enjoyable, and a prosciutto panini that complemented everything perfectly. Overall, I'm really glad I gave Rebel another try. The effort Larissa and her team put into turning things around was clear, and I look forward to coming back again in the future.

Fantastic place, fantastic owner, fantastic Mead!!!…read more I can't speak highly enough about this very cool place. They make all their own mead and it is all delicious. They owner was out bartender and he was a wealth of information. He was so helpful and friendly helping us make our choices. We tried 12 different flavors and even took a bottle home with us. Summer are sweeter than others, but all are wonderfully designed and brewed. I will definitely be back.

As a fan of fruity alcoholic beverages I have always been curious about Brewlihan Mead. I only…read morepreviously had mead at the Renaissance Fair. I finally got the chance to check them out one afternoon when I was in the area. Brewlihan Mead is a 1,700-square-foot mead house and tasting room owned by John and Stacey Hoolihan. John had a background in science education and started out brewing as a hobby. What turned into a passion became a business. Brewlihan Mead is the first commercial meadery in Broward and Palm Beach counties. Mead, sometimes called honey wine is an alcoholic beverage made from three ingredients: fermented honey, water and yeast. It is the first alcoholic beverage consumed by mankind and is believed to predate wine by nearly three thousand years. Since the taste of honey can vary by region, mead can have a diverse and complex flavor profile. To make the mead at Brewlihan, the water, yeast and honey is placed in fermentation tanks with fruit and then aged in oak barrels for 2 to 5 months. You can take your mead to go in cans or they have a nice bar inside the tap room where you can enjoy your drink. I took my mead home and while I enjoyed all of it, my favorite was Winter in So Fla which truly evoked the tropical feel of a winter in Florida. Mead is a great alone or as a pairing to a meal. If you are a mead enthusiast they have memberships for $300 with a host of benefits listed on their website. Whether a casual or refined drinker of mead, you are sure to find something unique and delicious here. John and Stacy are so warm and friendly and this is the kind of science I really enjoy.

The time has come to say a fond farewell to one of Fort Lauderdale's hidden gems. Sad but true,…read moreVincent, his wife Claire, and daughter Nastasia are moving north to Savannah, Georgia, from where Vincent will be commuting to consult for some Napa Valley wineries. The family has no plans to open another wine bar in their new location, which regrettably means bidding adieu to those authentic charcuterie platters so lovingly arranged by Claire and the hospitality gentille of daughter and co-owner Nastasia, who created a such a welcoming ambience at this unassuming wine bar in Fort Lauderdale's North Beach neighborhood across from the Galt Ocean Mile. If you had the pleasure of getting to know this lovely family from Bordeaux, France, where Vincent spent more than three decades working at Château Margaux, the prestigious Premier Grand Cru Classé estate in the Médoc region renowned for producing some of the world's finest, elegant and most coveted Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines, you will know what a loss this means for Fort Lauderdale's northeast side of town. Wishing this delightful family au revoir and all the best in their new endeavors!

And to my surprising delight, they did. It was so delicious. But, what I really liked about Chez Vincent Wine Bar was its comfortable ambiance, good service, and stunning décor of upside-down umbrellas hanging from the ceiling; totally creative. Besides delicious wines by the bottle or by the glass, Chez Vincent Wine Bar also offers a great selection of charcutiers. I had their "Le Trio Francais" which consisted of a dry salami rosette of Lyon, Madrange white ham, and a duck rillette being a delicious pate that went so well with my Chateauneuf du Pape. They of course also have cheese plates and other good plate selections they refer to as their "Mixes," as they contain multiple mixes of true gourmet delights. The last time I was there, they also had a man playing a MIDI keyboard for entertainment.

If you've ever gone to one those wine tastings as conducted by certified sommeliers, you soon learn…read morehow complicated and expensive wines can become. Like I mean in $80 plus a bottle and being told that the wine I'm tasting has a nose of blackberry with undertone hints of peach; none of which I have ever been able to truly discern. So it was a joy for me to stop by The Simple Wine shop where I was given the opportunity to try several not to be found elsewhere wines and also to purchase a couple of bottles for myself. The Simple Wine had wines I've never seen before and a few I've never even heard of previously. So, I became completely fascinated in trying these new flavors and tastes as well as some that were familiar. The selection of Italian wines was amazing as they mostly came from small craft vineyards as in the type that would only supply a few select restaurants, but because of their limited capacity, not something like the big box wine chains such as Total Wines. Having spent considerable time in in the smaller country like regions of Italy, I quickly learned that I never had to purchase a bottle of wine as any restaurant house wines were the equal if not superior to any I'd find in a retail bottle. The secret behind it was that these restaurants were supplied by the small craft like vineyards. So finding out that I can now obtain these regional Italian wines from smaller craft vineyards is a real delight and a big money saver too as most of his prices seemed to have run between $15 to $25 dollars.

He was attentive and offered recommendations for wine. We thoroughly enjoyed a Sauvignon Blanc and the Pinot Noir. For dinner one of us selected an appetizer special of a ciopinno with a variety of shellfish. Guilio added pasta and quite honestly the portion was huge! We had leftovers! It was wonderful. The fish was fabulous and the broth tasty. We also ordered the veal saltimbocca. It was a nice size piece of meat. I just wish they gave me more potatoes and veggies. They were cooked perfectly and the potatoes had a nice crispiness to them. The other members of our party ordered the salmon and pasta dish. We were surprised the salmon wasn't served as a filet but as pieces. It was enjoyed, however. And our other friend had the pasta carbonara which was very cheesy and enjoyed! We couldn't pass up dessert.. the copa romina and mango pie. Both were scrumptious!! The crust of the our was fabulous and the combination of custard, gelato and berries in the other were perfect. A wonderful experience overall!
