I deal with them in connection with mutual clients in respect of property maintenance. My firm neither employs, nor is employed by them. I deal with quite a few letting agents and some of their staff are just kids, who barely possess the power of speech. Many are quite disingenuous on the phone and lack the depth to manage property. Harvey & Co. on the other hand have proven time and time again to be professional and efficient in what they do and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. There are among a handful of letting firms in Glasgow whom I rate highly.

The maintenance within the area was of a reasonable standard, but Speirs Gumley are interested in one thing MONEY. Listen they have no interest in you, though they might claim they will !! I moved out in July 2024, but the £100 deposit has been swallowed up by invoice charges. I have asked what invoice charges cover, but they won't answer this......or they can't. We have issues with our property, namely the roof, and they simply don't care, it has been ongoing for years and they are yet to resolve it. They take days to respond to any emails and when they do they just repeat the same nonsense.

Now I totally get why that is. Some of these guys suck. Plain and simple. I've had friends who've been mightily screwed around by some places, to the extent that you wonder if it's actually a human being and not a heartless robot who's running the biz. Right, muttering over. Review time. I've heard people saying that these guys are sometimes slow to respond to calls. This claim has on occasions had merit, however on the whole, they are pretty damn prompt at getting things done and getting back to you on issues. In the main, they're pretty hands off in terms of visits, contact etc. If things look and sound happy, they seem to be quite happy to let you get on with things and be there if schtuff needs done. Me like. One of the main plus points i feel with these guys is the appointment of a specific customer service contact for each tenant. This means, for me, that I have a name and some one accountable for my requests. No longer does a question 'go missing' after being passed along the line! Me happy so far.

I am still waiting for a letter 5 MONTHS later to explain what they were deducting and also still waiting for a Gas bill as this was charged by Merchant Lettings and paid directly. One such problem resulted in us talking to the big boss in the Glasgow branch as they had our account in hundreds of pounds worth of arrears that were never there in the first place; the threatening letters then stopped not long after. On another occasion we were informed our flat would be inspected at a specific time and date, so we stayed in and the guy simply walked in the front door to our hall way and then just walked straight back out again. Most folk would find this perfect, however we are on good terms with our landlord and felt it unfair that she was paying for a service that she was not receiving, so we called her and she duly complained. This is ridiculous. I left the flat in a clean state (swept and clean).
