I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe other homeowners deserve to know about my experience. My concerns are not primarily about the appearance of the windows--they are about transparency, documentation, and confidence that the installation was completed according to the manufacturer's requirements and applicable building codes. One thing I wish had been clearly explained before we signed our contract is the difference between **replacement (pocket) windows** and **new construction windows**. As homeowners, we were never educated on the differences, the advantages and limitations of each system, or why one installation method would be chosen over another. Looking back, that information would have been extremely important in helping us make an informed decision. I would encourage every homeowner to ask detailed questions about which type of window is being installed, how it will integrate with the home's weather barrier, and what that means for long-term performance, maintenance, and future renovations. During this project, I repeatedly asked for the manufacturer's installation instructions for my windows. I was initially told that there were no installation instructions available. After conducting my own research, I located what appears to be the manufacturer's installation guide online and provided it back to the company. Later, I also received written installation procedures from the company. That inconsistency significantly reduced my confidence in the information I was being given. As I continued reviewing the installation, I identified several issues that I believed warranted further investigation, including concerns about whether exterior drainage (weep) holes may be obstructed, whether the bathroom window is properly safety glazed, and whether the installation followed the manufacturer's coastal installation requirements applicable to our area. Because of these concerns, I have requested permit records through the Freedom of Information Act and am pursuing an independent municipal inspection so the installation can be evaluated objectively. My goal is simply to determine whether the work complies with the manufacturer's installation requirements and applicable building codes. Throughout this process, I have documented my concerns in writing and requested supporting documentation rather than making assumptions. I believe homeowners should receive clear answers to reasonable questions involving permits, installation standards, inspections, warranty coverage, and the specific type of window system they are purchasing. I sincerely hope everything ultimately proves to have been installed correctly. However, based on my experience, I would encourage anyone considering this company to request copies of the permit, manufacturer installation instructions, inspection approvals, and warranty documentation before and during the installation process. Ask whether you are purchasing replacement windows or new construction windows, why that installation method is being recommended for your home, and how it complies with the manufacturer's published requirements. Just a bit of a bizarre experience all around. Sales guy was nice enough at first, but about halfway through the appointment he went on a political rant about "Porn being shown to first graders in Illinois schools". It made my husband and I so uncomfortable, but we stuck it out for the rest of the meeting. He then got very 1980's sales-y, requiring us to engage in his pitch with questions like "which window maker do you think you'll want if a storm comes?" and would not continue until we would say back to him "yep, yours, New south windows". We then sat in awkward silence for a few minutes until he quoted us $69,000 for our 2000sf house (23 windows and 1 door, I think?). He quickly followed that up with "If you sign today, I can do $42,000, but that's only good for the next couple of days." When we firmly told him that we would not be signing anything same day, he told us that he has such a full calendar of people wanting to buy windows from him that he probably couldn't make any time for us, so we better act fast and make a deal with him before we lose the opportunity. When we told him we were waiting on a quote from another window company as well he said, "I probably could get you down to something like $29,000." Call me crazy, but a 40k swing in a matter of 5 minutes just seems a bit fishy. I asked him to email me some information about their product and our quote and he told me he couldn't do that. He said the only information they have is all on their website, and the quotes change day to day so sending me a quote really wouldn't be worth anything. Huh?? After reading the other reviews I'm glad to see our experience wasn't an isolated one. I would stay away from these guys. read more

Not Impressed! We had an appointment to have 18 replacement windows and a set of French doors quoted in my home. They insisted that both my wife and I be there for this appointment. The salesman never showed, never called! I called after they were over an hour late. The person I spoke with apologized profusely and asked to reschedule... we did for 2-days later. Once again...no show, no call. I called again and they once again apologized profusely and threw in a 5% discount off the entire job, so we rescheduled for later the same day. 30 minutes later, I got a call back saying they couldn't come because we were out of their 85 mile service area, I told them their store is exactly 41.2 miles from my home according to Google Maps. After being put back on hold for several minutes, they came back on and said it's not the miles...they don't service my zip code. Sounds like a load of BS to me...the first thing they did when I originally contacted them was get my address. Reading other reviews on this site, it looks like we probably dodged a bullet anyway! read more

Very pushy 90 minute sales pitch and they expect answer before they leave or you lose you discounts Beware of this company. Even if you agree to all this mess it's at least six weeks or more before you get your windows. read more

Pushy sales but I took the bait. Was told a new door would be three months. It took over four. When they finally scheduled install they were an hour late. This company has no respect for it's customers. At the prices they're asking you can find a better company. read more

In addition to all of the other poor reviews written before me for which I agree 100%, I would offer that if you really enjoy that new car buying experience in a dealership, you should call NewSouth. The NS experience will be the same. It is an utter waste of time and utterly filled with sales gimmicks and insults to your intelligence. Last year, I had three very normal sized windows and a slider door quoted. The estimate stated "Man. Suggested List Price - $19,090." Yes, $19k; however, if I bought today, I could reduce that price to $9,998. Yes, $10k for three normal windows and a slider. I shutter to think what price they'd offer in today's price gauging climate. Find another service. read more

I called this company because it was advertised as "Factory Direct Pricing" from a window "manufacturer"; who makes quality products. They sent a salesperson who wanted to tout their "premium" windows; and insistent about having an opportunity to educate me about their premium product vs. contractor grade windows. Now, I'm pretty tolerant about getting some product info about why a salesperson believes in their product - I just wanted wanted the technical info in a brochure - to weigh into my decision at a later time. As a former successful salesperson, it was pretty easy to pick up that he was running off a script, and using some high pressure sales techniques and key words to illicit an emotional purchase. I ended up asking him to leave because he was unwilling to measure the window size, ask basic questions like single hung vs. double hung vs. hurricane resistant glass vs. regular code compliant glass. I ended up calling New South and ask for another appt. with a different person. New South declined to send someone back out because I was upfront about not wanting to hear a "sales pitch". Said that "New South" is not right for me. I think the manager forgets that I was a potential paying customer. I don't know what planet this guy is from, but the big buzzword for any industry right now is "patient experience". NewSouth Windows has a thing or two to learn about earning people's business and hard earned money. read more

Update: *finally* got a call from NewSouth on my broken window. Despite their warranty I was told they would NOT replace the window that their installers broke at time of installation because the damage is cosmetic and doesn't affect the integrity of the window. So now I have to look at the ugly broken window forever as it keeps out the rain. Great!!! NewSouth is THE WORST. read more

Previous owner of the home purchased windows that were installed after we closed on the home - had I known before hand I would have told him not to waste his money. 7 windows were installed and one was cracked - the other 6 did NOT close correctly. Tried to get a replacement as there is a Life Time warranty that did not seem in effect 4 months after installation since they already had the cash. Also had a Salesman who HAD to come to the house as we were thinking about buying more (even though he knew the exact size and type of window) to make his "Pitch" Tried to sell me 2 windows that had a list price of $5,400 (yes you read that correctly) but for Today ONLY it was $1,450/window and mind you these are NOT Impact windows- could not have had a worse engagement as they couldn't care less about the customer just the cash! We had an appointment with the local manager. What a disappointing waste of time. He was so determined to make us a captive audience to his sales speech that he wouldn't answer any of my questions. Of course every salesperson is going to talk about how their product is superior to every other and that's fine, but geez when a consumer indicates that they are uncomfortable with sharing all their information, maybe it's time to move on to giving them the estimate that you are there for.
