However, I met Retractive Coordinator Arlene Rosario who explained surgery options and she was very respective of my concerns and went over the entire procedure to insure I understood what to expect. Arlene also coordinated the surgery with my insurance carrier to insure all covered expenses were deducted from my final payment. Arlene and Doctor Newsom have made me feel I have made the best choice for my surgery.

I ordered contacts at the end of December and began having issues immediately. I contacted the office to report the problem, but when I finally received a callback, I had to repeatedly explain the situation to multiple people. I was then given the wrong trial contacts and had to call again to receive the correct pair. On several occasions, I never received a callback and had to continually follow up myself. I finally had an appointment today to show them the issue with the contacts, only to be told I would be charged AGAIN for a fitting. There is no issue with how the contacts fit my eyes -- the problem is with the batch of contacts I was provided. Additionally, my husband had to return four separate times to get the correct eyeglass prescription because the original prescription was inaccurate. This office seriously lacks customer service and follow-through. They need a better system for tracking patient phone calls and reported issues so that when an appointment is finally scheduled, there is documentation showing the concern was reported well within the 90-day period. Unfortunately, due to the lack of follow-up and constant runaround from their office, I was pushed beyond the 90-day window and am now expected to pay another $90. No thank you. Based on other reviews, it appears this company still has significant work to do to improve their customer service and patient care.

They rescheduled me for months later for the operation. I was talking with my friend who recommended Dr. Cortelli. Called and managed to get an appointment for the next day after I explained my situation to Theresa. I got to the office and went in immediately. Went from test to test and then to Dr. Cortelli. More tests than I had in the past. Dr. Cortelli took lots of time to explain that my vision would not be improved much even if I got the toric lenses because of a different problem in my one eye (nothing that needed fixing). All I needed was a new pair of glasses! I cannot express how wonderful Florida Medical's staff was from Julie at the desk, to the technician who did the tests, to Theresa to Dr. Cortelli. If I hadn't gone there, it would have cost me thousands of dollars for toric lenses that would not have helped!

After spending significant out-of-pocket funds on consultations and diagnostic tests, I sought a second opinion at Orlando Health. The findings at Orlando Health directly contradicted the diagnosis provided by St. Luke's; I was informed that cataracts are not present. The discrepancy between these two evaluations is deeply troubling. I encourage everyone to be their own advocate and seek a second opinion when facing a surgical recommendation at this practice

Was greeted by detached indifferent and surly call back! Only wanted to know my insurance carrier---not "how can we assist you with eye care?" Not a glimmer of compassion or helpful suggestions! I asked when they would be, she said she didn't know. She then checked my phone number and I told her that was correct but why didn't anyone call me to tell me of this delay?
