I hate that I'm leaving a bad review...I've been going to I-Care Optical for many years. I believe that is the problem- I wouldn't go out of my comfort zone. Well I'll talk about this year's visit. I went in about 3 months ago to get new glasses. They didn't put prism in. I had questioned if they did or not because they just seemed different, though they were very different frames so when someone said yes it's there and I paid for it, I assumed it was there. I went back in to get another exam recently because I was having visual problems, and Efre took me seriously and told me I have glaucoma. Ok, I thought, that explains the vision and I'll learn more at a specialist. The specialist was a terrible experience, but someone there did say there wasn't prism in the lenses...so back to Efre for another referral and to get them checked out. I'm not upset at all by the prism mistake- it happens. And if it hadn't happened I might have put off the glaucoma symptoms as migraines, etc...I have been upset by the rude arrogant attitudes of the women working in the office and mostly by the damage done to my frames. My NEW frames. There are scratches over the nose bridge, and globs of glue or something along the bottom. I was also told by one that I would drop them off at 9am and pick them up an hour later...that day when I came in I was told by another that I had to wait until 1pm to pick them up. I have never waited all day for lenses to be done...and they didnt call me when they said they would, I called them half an hour later and got told it will still be 10 minutes. Anyway, the doctor is ok. He is polite, intelligent, competent. But the problem comes when the doctor is overcompensating for the assistants. I-care optical really needs to re-think their staff. The selection of frames is also rather boring and my size is never there...possibly overpriced. I've been ordering online. read more

First time here today. I was looking for a new eye care provider that had same day service. I called at 10AM, had an appointment setup for 1030. I got there, filled out the paperwork and waited for about 15 minutes before being seen. Had my eyes checked and I was out of there before 1130AM. The staff was friendly and service was great. The doctor was kind and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend this place. read more

My experience at I-Care was awesome from the lady at the front desk, to the pre-exam, to the doctor, to the lady who took payment. I have never experienced such great customer service, smiles, and friendliness at any doctors appointment. I've been going to this optometrist for about 10 years. Much like many others, I started here when I was younger and just kept going there because of convenience. However, after the last few appointments and most recent interaction I am no longer a patient, after 10 years. I have full vision benefits with United Healthcare. For a while, the service has been sub-par, but again out of convenience I kept going. About 2 years ago Dr. Efre changed my contacts to a new kind (which undoubtedly is because of the kickback he gets) and I disliked them. I went this past year for my annual exam and this is where things started going downhill, quickly. My exam last year was typical of the others, okay service, quick in and out with minimal 'patient care'. When I was going through the checkout to pay my co-pay and order contact lenses, the prices they offered were significantly more expensive than what you can get from anywhere online (1800 Contacts, Walgreens, etc.) Because of this I chose not to order my contacts directly from the doctor (because they were 200% more expensive) and instead just paid my eye-exam copay and was on my way. In the following weeks I used my latest prescription to order some contacts from Walgreens online with a coupon and saved a lot of money. I received a call shortly after from Dr. Efre's office which quickly resulted in almost a shouting match. They called because since I did not order my contacts from them, apparently I "owed" $90 for my exam. I still to this day do not understand how I would possibly owe more money for my exam other than the exam co-pay. Needless to say this was absolutely not explained to me while I was in the office. So they tried prying me for the extra money and I staunchly rebuffed them because it honestly sounded completely shady. Fast forward a year, these past two weeks, and to my experience that just ended with me informing the office manager that I am never coming there again (which she almost gratefully said "okay thanks"). Since I am still within a year from my last exam and prescriptions are good for a year, I found myself out of contacts and tried ordering more (from Walgreens online again). Dr Efre office declined my order, go figure. I called and what ensued was 4 more calls back and forth on how they messed up the prescription, need to talk to the doctor, etc. etc. and then it led to them basically telling me they will not fill any prescription until I come for another exam ($$$) and order directly from them. I feel cheated and infuriated. A 10 year relationship went up in smoke for what appears to be this office trying to force people to pay more and absolutely terrible customer service. Never going again, never recommending to anyone and instead getting the word out to others to avoid this place. This information I am sharing is for all who have good and bad reviews on this or any business merchants. The integrity of the service level we receive as consumers are vital to the business of any one owner or one who works for that business. I am just a regular person part of your community. As yourself, I care to pass on information to those who can use it to your advantage. This will inform the community to research the business before you spend valuable time and money on an establishment who does not care about the customer or service level we receive. And just the same, there may also be those who are superb at what they do. But the key is awareness to the public, to stop the businesses and make them take responsibility for their employees, and make the employees accountable, make them earn back their respective integrity as it should be. Employers should be held responsible as to who they hire. Is the employee qualified to work in such an environment where they speak to people and service the public daily? Do they bring a cheerful smile or glad tidings? Do they know SOP of the company what the policies and procedures are to resolve matters such as unsatisfactory service, disputes, and such issues which are more complex than just sitting there and giving incorrect information? Bottom line, the services many have received from this particular provider is unacceptable. I was going to use the provider and his services, but not after reading these reviews. My rule of thumb, if I read a review of any kind and the bad outweighs the good, 9 times out of 10, the bad is what's going to stand out. I did my due diligence and I researched the provider NPI, checked his credibility as an optometrist. How long has he been licensed? How many satisfied/unsatisfied customers do say good things about him and his services? We should demand good service or take our business elsewhere. I looked up the name of this business under bbb.org and they are giving this provider an A+. If these reviews were under BBB. website many consumers would be aware and BBB will make sure that we as consumers are receiving the respective service they are promised to deliver. I am happy that I can share this knowledge with many who have no knowledge about this kind of matter. This and many other questions we should be asking before taking a "leap of faith" on a person who is dealing with one thing which is near and dear to us. Our eyes. You only get one. Well it was my first visit there for a eye exam,but have gown my glasses ther for about 3 years. My viator was great Dr. Anthony wanted to know what was going on with me, my concerns, and he just listen he did an excellent exam and was very thorough with my eyes and after the exam told me his concerns and I was very excited because my new prescription is what I need previously it was not very good and my eyeglasses was not the right prescription and he was not stopping until he got the right prescription for my eyes and I'm very pleased with the service the staff was very friendly courteous a tentative my experience there was just awesome and I would recommend it and I will continue to go. read more

I'm sadden that I've had such a bad experience with this place, I've been coming to this location for over 9 years. I've always loved Dr. Anthony and when this place first started the staff was helpful and Pleasant they were very accommodating. I never had any issues with this place until last year 2014 I went for my eye exam and wanted to get new glasses. I picked the ones that I needed and they advised it would take 2-3 weeks to get the frames. By the third week I called and the lady who picked the phone up kinda brushed me off and said you'll be called when the frames come in, so I hung up and waited 3 more weeks finally I called again and Karen was so nice and apologetic she checked to only tell me no one had placed the order for my glasses. She did have me come in same day to pick a frame where they could cut the lens same day. Because I had never had a bad experience with them I decided I would give them another try 2015 and yet we have another bad experience I went in for my yearly exam put my order for new frames everything was fine they took my money, only to call me tell me and advise me I had to wait until January to due to my insurance however my co pay for frames couldn't be refunded even if I didn't get the frames. I can use it as a store credit in January. Due to all the mistakes and misinformation with staff I will no longer return next year. Loyal customer has been lost. read more

The office manager is down right rude,cocky, disrespectful and lied on several occasions about when my prescription would be ready. I called on Tuesday and she informed me to call back Wednesday when her other staff would be there so i could get more information. You would think the office manager would know what's going on in her own office, yet i called back on Wednesday and Karen (the older lady with short hair in the picture) the office manager said her other staff member was out and always had Wednesdays off. I confronted her as to why she would tell me to call back and her response was wildly outrageous saying that she never told me to call back. Karen is one of the worst people I've ever dealt with and i have been going to this doctor for over 10 years. Dr. Efferies is great but thanks to his horrible staff i will now be seeking my eye care else where. Don't waste your time with this place unless you want to be treated like a piece of trash. read more
