His work was the foundation that everything else depended on, and he finished in time, keeping the entire project on schedule. He built two beautiful retaining walls with integrated stairs and created a dry river rock drainage bed along the outside of our fence to help prevent erosion and washout next to our new path to the backyard. The craftsmanship is outstanding, and it's obvious he takes pride in doing things the right way. He also completed a separate project at the front of our home, removing old bushes and installing new sod. The sod has established beautifully and is doing amazingly well. Beyond the quality of his work, Sam is one of the kindest, most honest, and hardest working people we've ever hired. He communicates well, shows up when he says he will, and genuinely cares about delivering a great result. Finding someone with this level of integrity, reliability, and skill is rare. My backyard is shady, and with all the rain and runoff, my grass was just disappearing. I didn't like to go out there anymore. But Dave had a great thought of regrading it, and running some river stones through it to give the water a place to go, and a place for the grass to grow. He put an estimate together -- had some good options -- and we figured out the best one. The best part was his service. He said realistically it would be a month, but he called me a few days later and said he had something change in his schedule and could start in 4 days! That's "under promise and over deliver" in my book. The opposite of what many in the service industry do. He continued to go above and beyond -- even fixing a few things with my sprinkler system that he did not need to do. He came back to check on a few little areas, and made a very slight correction to a run off pipe. He said, " this works, but I can make it better. I'll take care of it for you." The Fescue is absolutely full of weeds - clover, crab grass, wild something rather, violets, etc. They aren't putting down pre-emergent and clearly nor do they put down post-emergent in the Fescue. I didn't have any weeds with previous lawn care company. They also sell the tree/shrub program based on fertilizer/pesticide/herbicide... except you don't actually get fertilizer. Disappointed in this. I don't dislike them and infact really like the people, but there seems to be some kind of disconnect between the ladies answering phones, owner, and applicator. (60$) I kept up w the service because the quality was often good. Today if was terrible. The lawn guy Dee took his time with the front, and rushed through the back. There were patches of grass mulch everywhere and pushed up against the house. Edges not trimmed, weeds neglected from obvious areas of growth ( along the fence, behind the a/c units) When I tried to point out that I was not pleased and asked him to come back he made excuses, told me he wasn't going to fix it, showed me a flyer of a company that could fix my weeds, and basically let me know I had to deal with the horrible backyard. I paid half the rate since he really only did half the yard.. I told him to remove me from the route and no longer needed his services, his reply is "sounds good to me" Long story short. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. The professionalism is not there.
