Ambiance: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5…read moreFood: 4/5 We've driven past this place a bunch and we've always been curious about it. After a recommendation from a friend who loves this place we decided to pop in on a Saturday afternoon to see what it was like. There were only a few tables available for sitting but we wanted to get our order to go so it was no problem for us. The elderly couple who own the place are also the two people who operate the spot - the husband makes the food while the wife will ring you up. They were both very lovely! We ordered a large chicken Parmesan sandwich and a mushroom soup - both were good! The chicken Parmesan was a little different than expected as there was no melted cheese/sauce on top (we think there was some Parmesan in the sauce) but it was still tasty. The soup was good but on the salty side which I personally prefer but some may not. The one part which was a little off putting was that they strongly prefer cash and will ask you to pay with cash next time if you choose to pay with debit (they don't accept credit cards) and they thanked us for wearing our masks in the store but they were not wearing masks themselves so keep this in mind if this is something important to you! Overall, this is a good spot to grab a sandwich/soup for lunch if you're in the area!

The elderly couple was a bit abrasive and rough around the edges back then, but more so now. The behavior and mannerisms of this couple combined is very comparable to Seinfeld's 'Soup Nazi'. I politely asked the old woman (others refer to her as toothless) if I may take a picture of the menu and she practically had a heart attack. She screamed - "If you take a picture, I will kick you out of this place!". The old man also had a sarcastic tone in his voice when I asked about mayo in the chicken salad sandwich. The mushroom soup was pretty good and the chicken salad filling was OK. The house baked bread was the only thing that really made this whole experience bearable. It appears as though that these two seniors are set in their miserable, toxic and irritating ways and are too proud to make a change for the better.

One thing I recommend is to not get the seafood though as the shells do make the weight go up and lead the bowl to cost more.

My friends gave me some great tips on the "heavy" items to avoid getting so I mainly loaded up on frozen meats, spinach, and vermicelli. I splurged and got some tripe, a beef ball, a fish tofu ball, and piece of fish too. I got the collagen bone broth and my total came out to around $15. It's nice that there is a small sauce bar included, along with kim chi. I made my own sauce but my friend's also recommended adding more raw garlic, cilantro and green onions when my food arrived. Broth was really nice and the $15 bowl filled me up. Good quality food for a very reasonable price. Service was also good with water pitcher refills and asking if we were ready for ice cream. While the ice cream is no DolarShop, it was still decent that it was included. I see why Big Way is so popular. I would avoid when it's busy and one has to stand and wait to get a table but otherwise, solid choice to dine solo or in a small group. Will definitely be back and likely try other locations.
