We were picking up my buddy from the ferry and wanted to grab something easy so decided to try out Ossie's Deli & Meats. They're located in a random plaza next to a Dairy Queen branch. We dropped in on a Saturday (around noon). There's two small tables outside to sit at otherwise it's more of an order and go joint. The two ladies working inside are very sweet and friendly. The menu consists of sandwiches, burgers, soups, macaroni & cheese and Sheperd's pie. - Soup of the day ($5.25 bowl) - there were two options but we went for the green pea soup. The ladies asked if we were sharing and split it into two bowls for us. Soup was hearty and healthy; something your aunt or grandma would make you at home. - Brando's burger ($11.00) - we asked for gluten free bread ($0.75) which took a bit longer to make/toast. Schnitzel is a large portion but doesn't have a crunchy texture. Sandwich hit the spot. - Roast beef ($8.25) - J opted for a kaiser bun for his roast beef sandwich. Thoroughly enjoyed on his end. 4 stars for this retro, family-owned, local deli! I've been craving a good sandwich and have known about Ossie's since I've moved to Tsawwassen. However, it wasn't until last week that I got to try them out. Note that this place is cash only. There is an ATM at the 7/11 next door and a few banks nearby. They're well known for their schnitzel sandwiches, so that's what I got. On top of that I got a reuben sandwich for my dad and a chicken pot pie to split. Everything was delicious. The chicken schnitzel sandwich was MASSIVE. I ate half and saved the rest for the manfriend. I do wish the chicken schnitzel tasted more fresh and crispy. I saw them microwave the cheese onto the schnitzel, which I'm assuming made the breading a bit more soggy. Regardless, it was still good. If you're craving a good deli sandwich, definitely pop into Ossie's! read more

Heard about this place from a construction worker. Went there and very retro. Everything on the menu looked great. I get the roast beef wrap all the time. The schnitzel burgers are huge and a meal within itself. All Mac and cheese and salads are home made. Limited seating so take out if too busy. Worth it. read more

This place is a solid 3 stars. It's a retro old school deli, one of the few that still exists in the lower mainland. It's considered a local to go place that's been around forever in Tsawwassen. Just look at all those photos on the picture wall! It's located on the main strip of Tsawwassen, just beside the DQ. If you're on the way to Pt. Rob for gas, this is a nice stopover. Lots of local flavour if you know what I mean. (There were a lot of construction guys getting their lunch while I was there). They have lots of types of sandwiches, all for under $10. I tried the schnitzel burger, which was ok, but not mind blowing. The goulash soup was heartier than expected with lots of beef chunks and the greek salad was very fresh. I also tried their chocolate oatmeal cookie and apple turnover, but was not wowed by them. Overall, this is still a reasonable option considering there isn't much choice in the area other than the food court at the mall, which doesn't have much to entice me. read more

Solid chicken burger but price is higher than what I would expect for a hole in the wall.

Tsawwassen locals all know this spot as the most delicious lunch spot in the lower mainland. This IS the definition of a hidden gem. If you like deli sandwiches, get the schnitzel burger, it's what they're known for. Today I had the Stout and it was fabulous. The original owner was an awesome man, who always made people smile when they came into his deli. It's still run by family. This place will always be the heart of tsawwassen and my favourite local tsawwassen spot. read more

Winner, winner!!! A super gem!!! My husband + I were in Tsawassen completely starved + I found Ossie's on Yelp. I'm SO GLAD we did! It's a family owned deli, with a really warm, homey feel. It was lunch time on a weekday, the deli was crowded with all locals who seemed to know each other + a fireman. You know police officers + firemen all know where all the good, cheap places to eat are at! There's sandwiches + "burgers" + soup on the menu. I asked what the most popular sandwich was + the SUPER nice + cheery attendant said, "The James Burger". OMG it was so good! Fresh kaiser roll, chicken schnitzel, shredded lettuce, onion, pickles, melted cheese + the perfect amount of messy mayo! I have been dreaming about this sandwich ever since! Cash only. The ladies at the store noticed I was pregnant + as we were leaving they called out to me + gave us two free cookies that were delish! I can't wait to go back! Has a great home style vibe, good is fresh, sandwich or burger is made in front of you. Really gives you that authentic deli and healthy feeling. Really new to the Tsawwassen area so after a visit to a friend's house she recommended for us to try ossie's out! She recommended any sandwich and if the soup sounded yummy it most probably would be. So with that we ordered one schnitzel sandwich and a chicken sandwich and the cream of broccoli soup. She didn't tell us the portions would be gigantic! We could've just shared one sandwich and soup. The soup was very good! Creamy and very hearty. Tasted very homemade and healthy not like the stuff that you get sometimes and all you taste is cornstarch. The huge schnitzel sandwich was amazing! Didn't realize how good schnitzels are! There was plenty of lettuce and tomato and sauce and a nice tangy mustard which balanced it all out! Now I get why there were so many schnitzel sandwich options. The chicken sandwich which was just as good but not as exciting as the schnitzel. There was a very generous serving of chicken. I feel like it was a whole chicken breast in there! This cute little diner was a very pleasant surprise! Ossie's is the kind of Deli you watch disappear after Subway moves in next door and that makes you feel *terrible* 10/10 would eat again, Me and a friend stopped by the neighboring thrift store and ended up grabbing lunch here. The wall along the dining area is covered with about 20 years of faded and curling customer photos. We ordered soup and a sandwich, plus another sandwich. The sandwiches were not anything to write home about (Mostly just didn't like the Kaiser bun, but I can admit that's my personal taste) but the soup was a pretty phenomenal split pea we sat around waiting to cool just for the pleasure of eating it as soon as possible. If I find myself back in Delta any time soon, I'd go back for another sammy and some soup, because I like the cut of their rib, But I'd ask for some extra tomato because I'm green like that. read more

Does sanitation even matter here? The entire restaurant is grimy and in bad need of a good washing. The workers wear no gloves and do not wash their hands between handling food and handling money. When I was in last, the woman behind the counter stuck her finger in her ear, twisted it around, then proceeded to assemble a sandwich. Disgusting.
