I think they're a good price and tasty! I love milk-based cocktails and it's great they have the white russian, and their girl scout cookie cocktail. Both yummy! I also ordered a portion of curly fries which came in a nice big portion which I tried to share but ate most of. I've had their burgers and full breakfast in the past which I really enjoyed. I have a small complaint which didn't actually affect me but my friend where if they did not have a specific cocktail ingredient they either missed it out, or substituted without asking. This led to some unexpected and some rather unenjoyable cocktails. Luckily this was raised with staff and replacement cocktails given. The café next door which I believe share the same kitchen is also great for filled rolls and hot food for lunch. It's always super busy during lunch time though as there is a high school, university and construction workers all wanting food.

We've been for dinner and lunch and always enjoyed our meal. Service was always been great with a friendly smile when we walk in. Menu does have a good selection of dishes. Some are new to me as certain dishes are not offered in the states. Or some is their version of what we have. It does get quite busy as it's one of the local spots in the town. Which not a lot of other places have closed down nearby. Overall, food was good. Service was nice and friendly staff. Like mentioned, don't know if it becomes a social scene cat night. Have notices a dj there and security at the door before.

The Admiral has the feel of an old man pub, with the clientele of a generally much younger work crowd but it's always pretty busy, down in part to the sports they play and the reasonable-for-city-centre prices. Even though we hadn't booked, we were able to get a table with no waiting time - despite a particularly busy lunchtime - and quickly ordered our food. Given that we were eating over a work lunch time, it's pretty important to get the food quickly to make sure we weren't running late for getting back to work. I opted for the baked potato with chilli, cheese and sour cream. It came with a side salad and for £5.50 it was a really substantial portion. I can't eat food which is too spicy but the chilli was just on the right level of heat for me, yet the potato under was a bit hard until I managed to mash it up a little bit - I always wonder why they don't do that before serving, maybe it's just me... My lunch was tasty enough, the staff are always friendly and welcoming and the food comes out reasonably quickly. It's fairly standard pub-grub and I'll definitely be back for lunch, I just don't think it'd be my first choice - not when I have so many other options close by.

We popped in on a Thursday night to grab a 2-4-1 pizza and were surprised to see how big it is. The place was pretty busy for a Thursday night, but we were able to find a nice little booth at the back, away from the hubbub at the bar. The football was on, so it was a little rowdier than other places I have been to recently, but it was no biggie. The menu offers the usual burgers/pizzas, but they have taken the move to step away from your bog standard offerings. I opted for the Big Stink, which was big and stinky, and Gem got the Straight and Narrow (sans onions). Now, this might be a small thing, but it is always gonna get a thumbs up from me if you SLICE THE BLOODY PIZZA. Seriously, you're supposed to use your hands, so kudos to The Admiral for saving me the hassle of having to try and cut it with a knife #firstworldproblems The pizza base nice and crispy, the toppings were good quality and it all tasted fantastic. We were also pleasantly surprised by the bill, which came in at just under £17 including two soft drinks and a portion of chips (which didn't get finished because we are terrible at portion control). I'd never been before, but it will certainly be on my list whenever I am in town. A thumbs up from me.

I'd say the food was more on the "restaruant" side of indian food but overall it was well done and worth the visit. Starter was a crab, prawn, chilli and veg samosa with mango, mint and coriander salsa. Very nicely cooked but the only downside was that the chilli just wasn't making itself known in the slightest. As in, at all. Main course was a rogan josh which again , wasn't exactly spicy but had a good balance of flavours and the toasted onion rice and slightly salted yoghurt that went with it was excellent. The dish was more than the sum of its individual parts basically. Last course was a rice pudding with coconut, lime and maybe some crushed cardoman? Very nice. Service was great, vibe was nice and they are doing some more mid week regional food nights so probs worth checking.

Turned up with fairly low expectations--and somehow, even that was a stretch. First impressions?…read moreConfused. We weren't sure if we'd walked into a restaurant, a bingo hall, or someone's living room. Eventually, a staff member noticed us awkwardly lingering by the "wait here" sign and showed us to a table, which was nice... until they vanished into the abyss. I placed my arm down on the table and it was a genuine struggle to lift it again--it was that sticky. Menus? Nowhere to be seen. We had to flag someone down just to figure out how things worked. And when it came time to order--of course--it was QR codes. Because nothing screams warm hospitality like squinting at your phone and hoping you've tapped the right thing. Drinks took a decade and a half. Just as I'd accepted dehydration, everything arrived at once--pints, plates, and a little bit of panic. The food? To be fair, it was alright. Nothing to write home about--classic pub grub. Dessert was the one glimmer of hope: quick service, decent portions, no complaints there. I thought we were finally turning a corner... until The Incident. One of the lads headed to the bathroom and ended up locked in. I went in to help and immediately regretted it. The place looked like it hadn't seen a mop--or a renovation--since the Cold War. Holes in the wall, toilet paper floating in mystery puddles, and a smell I'm pretty sure is now part of my DNA. After a successful rescue mission--completely unaided by the staff, who were nowhere to be found--we made a swift exit. No goodbyes. Just a mutual understanding that we would not be back. In short: it's cheap, it's cheerful(ish), but it's seriously lacking in TLC--and a working toilet door wouldn't go amiss either. What it's really missing, though? Human interaction. We saw our server twice in the hour and a half we were there.
