Great service and helpful staff overall. I prefer this location to the new one over by Quincy Market. The value isn't half bad and neither is the selection of books upstairs. I found some good stuff at a good price!

Newbury Comics in Back Bay is always a fun place to stop in. There is a great mix of music, merch, and pop culture finds, so it is easy to spend more time here than you expect just browsing around. One of the highlights is the vinyl section downstairs. Really cool selection and a must check if you are into records. Definitely worth popping into if you are in the area.

" Cool store things you don't see anywhere " This store is in a good location if you take the train . If you drive you need to have someone wait in the car while you go in , my best option . So the store is huge with lots of things you don't find anywhere else . I got a pair of socks that say " my dog is cool as fuck " and a Newbury Comics black bag, basically their swag . The store is definitely pricey but they have unique pieces in on location . You pay for the newbury comics name , lol.

Tad disappointing. It was one of the places my husband used to hang out while he was in college. It was a typical indie, mom and pop store. Glad it's still around, still indie, but taken over by trends, lost its identity, it's generic, with products you can find anywhere else (bubble heads anyone, figures, etc). Not so much in the way of comic books. It is pricey, gentrified, not very unique. Like a store you'd fine in a mall. A tad sad to visit.

Front display on the first floor with and entire lower level dedicated to vinyl.

Stopped in on a whim and was so happy to see a full vinyl record store on the bottom level! Good selection of comics and graphic novels along with other merch. Friendly staff and happy to have had the chance to talk a little bit of hockey with the cashier.

I was initially excited to visit Newbury Comics on Newbury Street -- it felt refreshing to see a local record shop still surviving in Boston. But that excitement faded quickly when I realized this location prioritizes profit over customer loyalty or service. Nearly everything in the store is marked up *far beyond* reasonable retail pricing. We're talking double, sometimes triple, what you'd pay on Amazon or through other legitimate retailers. It's especially outrageous with collectibles -- for example, the new **Prismatic Evolution Elite Trainer Box** (MSRP \$50) is being sold here for **over \$160**, and the **Prismatic Evolutions Super-Premium Collection** (MSRP \$90) is listed at **more than \$200**. That's not a markup -- that's scalping. Vinyl records are just as bad -- most titles are easily found online for half the price. It's frustrating because you want to support a local spot, but they make it impossible with these exploitative pricing practices. Bottom line: This isn't a cool local shop anymore. It's a tourist trap with scalper energy. Do yourself a favor -- shop online or support stores that value their customers, not just their wallets.

This is everything you could want in a comic book store and more. They have Funkos and novelty socks and merch from various licensed characters and properties. And the store is just packed to the brim with stuff. It can be a little overwhelming and even hard to navigate because there's just so much to look at. I've wanted to come here since college, though, after my old roommate gave me a beer glass with the Newbury Comics logo. I don't have the glass anymore so I decided to get something else with the logo: a tote bag. It's black and white and has the logo on the front and the back says: A Wicked Good Tote. It's a cute Boston souvenir, too. They actually had quite a few nice tote bags to choose from. I also love the record store downstairs. If I actually had enough room in my suitcase I would have properly shopped it. But I was just visiting. So cool, though. Love the neon signs down there too. Newbury Comics is just a fabulous store for all your pop culture needs. Def a must see/shop if you love comic book or record stores.

I love Newbury Comics at all its locations. But this location might be my favorite not only because you're in the center of Boston, but it's two floors of just amazing things. They have an assortment of a monopoly boards different versions of Clue. They have this huge box of Cards Against Humanity, they have tons of books loads of Funko Pops. I even saw a pet rock there. I haven't seen one of those since I had one as a kid. The staff is nice, there was one Gentleman on the second floor that helped me he was very knowledgeable about anime. I'm definitely going back and they're going to have all my money because there's so many things there that I want.

Good for standard catalog stuff but all the real goodies go to eBay! Not for collectors.

Their new releases are organized well, and they have a staggering selection of new books for a shop with such a small footprint. They also have an extensive selection of US trade paperbacks, as well as a nice little bargain area with collected individual issues. If you're into manga, you owe it to yourself to stop in and check out their offerings, which span floor to ceiling from the front of the store to the back of the store, and go way deeper down the rabbit hole than you'll find in a mainstream store. I picked up all six volumes of a wacky new manga, Golosseum, on my last visit and received a discount since I bought multiple volumes of a series in one purchase, which was quite nice. When I've visited, staff has been polite and helpful. The shop is clean and is clearly run by someone who loves comics first and foremost. If you're looking for the latest Pop vinyl figures, t-shirts, etc., go to Newbury Comics, or another pop culture shop. If you're in Boston and are looking for a place to buy the latest comics or manga, Comicopia is your spot.

I said Yes and he then gave me their quick spiel. From other reviews it looks like 20% off isn't new and has been a thing for a very long time. I didn't find, in general, their prices to be too bad. A few books maybe but they're smack in the middle of the city in a high tent area and their selection of pretty much everything is great, do slightly higher prices are understandable. Highly suggest a visit for current books, back issues, slabs, and I think lots of gaming stuff as well (I didn't pay attention to their non-comic stuff). It was actually fun for me.

(The prices were a little high to begin with so the sale made them more regular). The display comic books had cool identifiers like the first appearance of Hawkeye, for example. They were valued higher because of these specifics. Even those were 20% off today. My husband's only critique was that some of the long boxes were packed too tight such that he would've had to pull out multiple comic books just to be able to search through the box. He says he would've bought more if there were about 15 fewer issues per long box. Come check it out!

I usually only come into these stores with my husband because he's the nerd but lemme tell ya, even I saw a few things that I'd like to have. Fortunately, for my pocket book and for my carry-on, my husband kept his cool and just bought a few small things that he hasn't seen in any of the shops where we live. He was super excited to check everything out and get things he can't get at home and I was lucky it was all small things. Why 4 stars? The place is upkept well but it kind of smells musty and weird in here. The employees are kind of meh, not very helpful or friendly. Also, pricing is a bit high, comparatively speaking, so the value is a bit low, but I do understand this place in a tourist zone, so I get it.

So, after coming into this shop, I knew I could potentially find something unique for my husband! They have every toy, anime or movie theme here imaginable! T shirts, tons of blind boxes, comics and novelty merch. I did check out the comics to see if there were any Transformer comics. Unfortunately there wasn't any. I did also check out their Transformers Blokees but my husband already had a majority of them. Nothing else really caught my eye for him as a take home present. My lack of stars is not for the store itself but for the staff. I interacted with 3 of them and all were unbelievably rude. I know they deal with a lot of traffic from tourists but if you can't handle customer service with tourists then maybe you should find a better fitting job. Customer service should not be it. I left with some Harry Potter themed Uno cards. Spending 11 dollars here truly pissed me off but I know my friend will love them. Have no expectations from the staff and you'll leave happy.
