I mean a store dedicated to Harry Potter -- come on?!? And what I found wasn't some corporate, merch-filled spot but something that seemed to have grown out of the love the owner has for all things HP. This small shop includes photos and facts about the cast, mixed in with a fun assortment of items. In particular, I liked the Letter from Hogwarts wallet and items related to each of the Hogwarts houses. (This girl is a proud Ravenclaw, in case you were wondering). I ended up buying my kids plastic pens that look like quills. The owner was talking enthusiastically to all who entered, and when I told him that it was my birthday, he said he had something extra special for me and gave me my own, gold laminated train ticket from London to Hogwarts. I was thoroughly charmed by The Fairy Shop, even without the use of spells. ;-) A must-visit for any Harry Potter fans.

This day, I found myself curious of the shops around & entered Brookline Booksmith w/ an optimistic mind! Okay, so I was totally not expecting this store to be so big. It has two sides, one with little Knick knacks, stationery items, + gifts & the other side was mostly books! They had a great selection of books, basically most things you could find at your local Barnes & Noble, just with a better gift selection hahaha. The gift side reminded me of the paper store almost BUT BETTER. Anyways, yeah so I will be back soon & I'd say it's worth the visit if you haven't explored this gem yet ;) Great place for book lovers, gift givers, & even just if you like finding cute things that you typically wouldn't see at other stores around.

Ever wondered if you were, perhaps, dreaming when you could swear you spotted a kiosk full of Russian nesting dolls right across from Lacoste? Your Ambien isn't working, darling. The Russians have invaded and they brought toys! A thousand or so sets of nesting dolls await your eager eyes, all handmade and uniquely designed, for what seems to be an affordable price (I am not too privy on the average cost for nesting dolls these days). Only problem is, I have never once seen an actual customer buy anything. I am sure that many do - else this little kiosk would likely be replaced by yet again another kiosk that sells "Boston gear" - so come out, come out, wherever you are!

Filled to the…read morebrim with with tons of comics starring characters from Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, and Captain America, to my personal favorites like Plastic Man and Slapstick, and even the cool indie stuff like The Mask by Doug Mahnke and John Arcudi and the ever so iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird (fellow Mass reps, lol). Rob, Yakov, Stee, Jeff, and Jacob are some of the coolest and most chill employees you can find. I'm probably gonna get my Spider-Man/Superman from there someday lol. And how could I forget the pricing of the comics? All of it is fair but they always have special discounts/sales and Rob always welcomes you with a.. "WELCOME TO FRIAR TUCKS!"
