We made in online reservation for Tuesday 11/15 and even had 2 phone calls confirming. When we got there, they couldn't find our reservation at all and didn't even know we we had an appt on 11/14 to look at the unit. But the big issue is that after the first full 2 months the price goes back to $49/month. No where online did it say that the price would go back to that, from the promo price. So after seeing that online and talking to 2 separate people on the phone we thought we would get the promo price for the duration of our rental. The only reason we figured it out RIGHT BEFORE SIGNING was because we asked again about the price in person. This is such false advertising and disappointing. In addition, the employee didn't even offer to work anything out. They have lost our business and respect. Update: The day after posting our review we were personally contacted by the property manager. He apologized for our negative experience and offered to make things right. He was straight forward with us and understood our concerns. Since he was willing to correct things and treated us with respect, we decided to give West Coast Storage a second chance. So far it has been a good experience and the facility is very clean. I am happy that the property manager is a stand up individual and did the right thing. Perhaps they have been bought out by venture capital who installed new management, but they have done a complete 180 and are now a completely different experience: predatory billing, "gotcha" rent increases, (three a year! And over 20% increases each time). I had been a long term customer (Hey, we all need storage!) And being a customer of Rose City Storage has gone from being a dream to a nightmare. Someone on this account tried to say that I am "confused" with another business-- nope! Not confused at all and I have all the rent increases and predatory billing documented if anyone wants to see it. I used to recommend you guys and now I will tell everyone the way you now do business. You can't rest on your former reviews when you used to treat your customers well. Edit: I just read a few recent "positive" reviews of this place and, if you dig a bit on the "review accounts" they are clearly using fake accounts to review themselves positively. Having said that I'd like to just go ahead and give this business the highest praise that I can muster for both of the services that they provide. (( Personal storage and small business/ artist studio space. )) I moved to Portland five years ago from the lovely capitol city of Washington state, Olympia. Olympia is a warm and insular bubble in which people retreat from the harsh realities of American life while enjoying the fellowship of the co-retreaters surrounding them. If you spend enough time in Olympia things will just fall into place. Just so with me. I rented a lovely studio to accomodate my small craft related business in a centrally located building from very supportive local business people and I payed very, very little for the privilege. Moving away from that comfort and security was a scary thing. Happily I had the good fortune of chancing upon the Towne storage building upon first moving to Portland. I've never looked back. Towne Storage provides two services: storage stace for individuals or business that just need temporary/ semipermenant storage space for their things and small to midsized office/ studio spaces for folks that needs offices or studios. As it turns out I need both. There are approximately 40 studio spaces in Towne storage building, ranging in size from 200 square feet to 2500 square feet, most averaging about 600? The price per square foot is inexpensive and the views range from compelling to spectacular. I've been the lease holder on five spaces so far in as many years. (( what can i say? I'm a glutton for punishment. )) All of them have served my needs very very well. The interior of every floor is divided up into myriad small storage spaces ranging in size from 50 to 400 square feet? Most averaging around 100 square feet, i should think. I rent one to store the backstock of hardcover books that constitiute my stock in stade. It's an impressive site. There is a functional freight elevator that will lift you and your things all day long if you let it. The studio tenants of the building range through an impressive array of professions and avocations. It's really a diverse and interesting group. We have bicycle builders, ergonomic brainiacs, painters, photographers (( galore )) illustrators, record labels, design dorks, movie editors, wooden instument creators, craftspeople and thinkers....all within shouting distance. (( though, generally, no one shouts. you get the sense that we're all here to work and we manage very well. )) The entire faciltity is managed by the sweetest, most helpful woman that you'd ever hope to meet. Seriously. Don't take my word for it.....I encourage you to call this company up if you need to store things or if you need stiudio space. That is all.

Upon moving in, it took us 3 days to clean out garbage and items that were left. Someone was obviously living there. Town Storage also curates a huge art show every year, so I was told in the initial interview and contract. When the time came for the art show, Debbie, sternly, told me that I could NOT partake in the showing. I asked her why and she said it was because she was renting me an ILLEGAL ART STUDIO and that it wasn't up to code. I was really upset and asked if she had another studio that I could rent. About a month later, I went to my studio and Debbie had my art studio dead bolted locked! I immediately called her. She would not answer my calls and the staff would not let me get my stuff. I had to wait 3 MONTHS for my studio-mate to come back from Australia to get my stuff. I had to cancel several art shows that month and SHE STILL CHARGED BOTH OF US 3 MONTHS OF RENT... even though we were not allowed into our studio. When my friend got back from Australia, she was not allowed in the studio, for god knows what reason! I felt I was extremely discriminated upon. They are obviously running an illegal operation. I wish I would've pursued legal action. HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED!!
