They only acknowledged their regulars. By the time the lady FINALLY asked us what we needed, she couldn't even answer our questions because she kept stopping to talk to her regulars. Really made us feel unwelcome and like we were interrupting her social time. Additionally, we pointed out one tank where one of the fish was being incessantly bullied and another tank with a dead fish, and all she goes is "hmm yep looks like it" and then walks back to the front and continues talking to her regulars. Absolutely no help and her lack of concern for the fish conditions makes me wary about purchasing anything from there. Ended up going to another store that had incredible service and I now have a wonderful set up. Would NOT recommend this place and certainly wouldn't ever spend a dime here out of principle.

I purchased an alfalfa hay bale and discovered a dead bird inside it. Instead of expressing concern about the product's quality, they reprimanded me when I reported the issue, insisting that the alfalfa was fine and showing little care for the potential risk it posed to my horses. They requested that I bring the bale back but would not issue a refund, even after I provided photographs. Additionally, I overheard one of the women speaking poorly about me to my manager as she walked away. The customer service from those two women left much to be desired and they were nasty, and I believe Russell's should reevaluate their hiring choices. I've been coming here for months and can't believe was treated that way.On a positive note, I want to commend the two gentlemen I encountered. They were genuinely apologetic and demonstrated good customer service despite the unpleasant behavior of the women and got me my refund.

For the first hour Lauren provided some good information and things to try with Darwin to help him. After that she said she wanted to bring in her dog for Darwin to be around, I stated I wasn't really comfortable with Darwin being around another dog and I didn't think it was the best idea. Lauren assured us that her dog Mable was extremely friendly and did not care about other dogs (Mable is a pitbull mix that is only 1 year old and about 50 pounds)! As Mable was brought in Darwin was barking and growling (his normal), and Mable was ok but then she started growling and getting aggressive. Her hair was standing up and Lauren said she was just correcting Darwin, so we just kept watching which was a mistake. Mable snapped at Darwin's ribs and bit him. We didn't see he was bleeding until she left. The next day our dog was very lethargic and sore, he couldn't jump up on the couch or walk with out crying out. Lauren did send me Mable's medical records at my request and was made aware that Darwin was bleeding. She did not offer a refund for the training. We already knew our dog has issues to fix, that is why we hired her, now he is even more scared of other dogs. The good news is he is healed up, but we will never use this company again. Please make sure to communicate what you want and you know your dog better than anyone else, do not put them in danger.

During our initial conversations, Melissa referenced her previous work with Eli Lilly when discussing animal care. While I respect professional experience, the way this was presented felt dismissive of my own long experience as a pet owner. For example, she strongly criticized the heartworm prevention product I have used responsibly for over 20 years with multiple dogs and suggested that products she prepares herself are preferable. From my perspective, the conversation felt somewhat condescending. When I scheduled boarding for our pets (three dogs and one cat), I also scheduled grooming for my cocker spaniel. At the time of booking, I explained that she had been digging in the yard after a large storm and would likely need extra grooming attention. She had been professionally groomed approximately 6-8 weeks earlier at PetSmart in Weatherford. I also shared that due to several difficult personal circumstances--including the recent passing of my father on February 28, my own cancer diagnosis and treatment, and my husband's cancer diagnosis and treatment--we had not been able to bathe her before bringing her in. I shared this simply to provide context. While we were out of town, Melissa contacted me stating that my dogs were "covered in ticks." This surprised me because our dogs have lived in multiple rural homes over the years, have been groomed regularly their entire lives, and have never had ticks. We currently live in a gated community where our home receives regular pest control, and our dogs sleep in our garage where we have not observed insects. When I asked for photos, the images that were sent appeared to show ticks in a container rather than clearly on the dogs themselves. During that call, I was informed that we would be responsible for paying to have the facility sprayed due to the ticks she believed came from our dogs. Because we were already traveling, we agreed to additional treatments for the dogs, including baths and chemical dips, and I was later told they had been dipped twice. Another concern for us involved billing transparency. We purchased pet food at the time we dropped our pets off and paid for it then, but we were charged again for the same food when we picked them up. Our final bill was approximately $2,000, and we were not provided with an itemized invoice explaining the charges. Without an itemized statement, it was difficult for us to understand how the total was calculated. Despite boarding multiple pets, there was no multi-pet discount offered. For comparison, the pet sitter who normally stays at our home--who unfortunately was unavailable during this trip--charges $80 per day to care for all of our pets combined. After this experience, I read through other reviews and noticed that responses from the business often attribute concerns to customer misunderstanding rather than acknowledging possible issues. During our own interactions, communication felt difficult at times, as conversations were often interrupted and it was challenging to fully explain concerns. Overall, based on my personal experience, this situation raised questions for me about communication practices, treatment authorization, and billing documentation. Anyone considering boarding services may want to ask detailed questions about these policies ahead of time. The photos we received that were described as evidence of ticks are included. He loves all the wonderful ladies that work there and I know they love him. They tell me every time! I have gotten several grooms for my chipit and never had any problems and he's always squeaky clean and smells amazingggg!! I wouldn't take my baby anywhere else!! They are also very reasonably priced and I appreciate that it doesn't cost me an arm and a leg to get such high level of care for my baby! Thank you Melissa's!!!
