This was an unforgettable experience. The symphony plays exquisitely. The venue is gorgeous, there is not a bad seat in the house, and their concession area is on point offering a variety of food and beverage. Their coffee was delicious. Pro tip: Keep in mind intermission is on the short side and food and drinks are not allowed inside, so whatever you order make sure you can finish it on time otherwise you'll miss part of the show or will have to throw your food/beverage away. I want to come back again and again, the Wallcast looked liked so much fun as well to bring a picnic, but sitting in the show inside was simply otherworldly- so many talented musicians. read more

They have a bar that also has food (sandwiches, cheese platter, and snacks) and hot drinks (incl. Cappuccinos, lattes, and cortaditos). The staff were helpful and cordial. It was my second time at the new world symphony and I love coming to see the Belgian director Stephane deneve. Seating is good no matter where you sit. Luc Fondaire is another Belgian in the house doing a great job here. All staff is amazingly friendly! We had some Prosecco before at the bar and it was delicious. Last time I also joined a reception for Belgians in Miami and it was really nicely done, in the rooftop room. Beautiful views. Their event rooms are great. This place is so nice I love coming here. Perhaps I am not used to this type of concert, which I saw on Dec. 21, but it seems to me that it would have been enhanced with some singers instead of being purely orchestral. I know that these are aspiring musicians but the only one I saw enjoying themselves seemed to be the conductor. I also can't help thinking that this program fell somewhere between classical and popular and thus failed to satisfy either genre. Maybe they should look to Andre Rieu for inspiration if they want to cater to a more populist, as opposed to, elitist taste. read more

This is one of my favorite places to go to and listen to the symphony! The Frank Gehry building is absolutely exquisite. I loved it. They also do wall casts outisde on specific nights and you can bring a blanket and have a picnic. One day I'll do that! They have a gorgeous sound garden for this so you can experience the inside on the outside! I just wish it was closer to home since I live in Palm Beach County I have to leave plenty of time to get down there! It is such a beautiful venue - so comfortable, so modern and so warm! I love that they tell stories now to introduce the various fellows and thank the donors! It makes it so personable. You can sit anywhere in the theatre and have a fabulous seat. They have drinks on the first and the 2nd floor too, if you desire. But note- you can only bring water in to the theatre! I have a sister who is a professional violinist in the DC area so I appreciate classical music so much. I also appreciate newer types of music and am always open to hearing something else. Recently came to the New World Symphony in South Beach with my friend Marilu F. This was part of my birthday gift to her. She's been such a great friend to me and it feels like we've known each other longer than we actually have. Luckily, the stars aligned and this symphony coincided around the same time as her actual birth date. We came to watch Ehnes plays Mozart with Xian Chang as conductor and James Ehnes as violinist. I wanted to make sure this would be an enjoyable one so I looked up one of their past performances and the sounds were excellent and mostly violin-oriented which I personally prefer. Marilu mentioned that this was her first ever symphony. We had a nice and relaxing time and pondered questions such as how important the role of a conductor really is to a symphony. Very important it turns out. And if you're ever wondering how bad a symphony can be without a conductor, just check out one of Marilu's videos on her review. Conductor Xian Chang was excellent by the way. She brought as much energy as she could muster. James Ehnes, on the other hand, is a very established violinist and he proved it with his solo masterpiece that no other violinist could match. This venue is very small, but in a good way. Almost every seat gets you a close, intimate view of the performance. As for parking, there is a large parking garage nearby with reasonable rates. Every once in a while, New World Symphony will offer a great deal on a Groupon. read more

You know those things you didn't even realize were part of your bucket list until you actually did them? Well, this was one of those things! For my birthday, one of my best friends, my dear Neil C., surprised me with tickets to the New World Symphony. It was amazing. The seats were pretty close up for the show, which was Ehnes Plays Mozart with Xian Chang as conductor and James Ehnes on the violin. Watching this performance live was nothing short of stunning. The passion radiating from the room was just beautiful, and if not that, the faces on the conductor alone. Ms. Chang quite literally came alive with every movement. The array of sounds that she managed to weave together was nothing short of astounding. Prior to this, I listened to classical music, yes, but I had never seen a live performance. This is exactly what I needed in my life and I had no idea. And if by chance, you are like Neil and I, know the conductor may be the most important part. Listening to them during intermission proved why. read more

Always a VERY nice experience at NWS, and the building is drop-dead beautiful, designed by Frank Gehry. On busy nights they even project the show on the side of the building and if not scorchingly hot outside, people bring picnic dinners and blankets for the lawn out front. The outdoor speaker system is phenomenal! The big trellises of bougainvillea hide the equivalent of large Bose outdoor speakers. There also are overhead speakers that look like high-style tubes from Bang & Olufsen. The whole effect is terrific sound almost like you are center seat in row 3. Also, I love the whole mission of this group: training orchestral musicians for other symphonies around the world. Aside from some VERY talented young musicians, you can often catch the already-famous in the intimate modern theater. The acoustics inside are superb. read more

Finally, after way too long. I've finally been able to attend an event at the New World Symphony, and I was blown away. For many year, off and on, I've attended their movies in the park event, which I've loved and recommend if you're in the area. It's a great date night as well as just a really cool way to experience a movie that you probably love. But I just got to go inside for the first time and my first impression was, "wow, this place is absolutely beautiful". The interior is elegant with a hint of Miami flavor without making itself too over the top. The lobby is beautifully decorated and those blue lights that even trickle into the auditorium make for great ambiance as well as selfie lighting. The set up of the auditorium was perfect. Was there a bad seat in the house? Absolutely not. The seats were comfortable. The views were perfect. It was just an amazing experience to sit there and take in the wonderful sounds of the symphony playing. I've noticed that ticket prices definitely vary from event to event. This event was a free community event, however, I've seen tickets for $15 and I've seen tickets for $110 listed on their web site so it really does depend on who and what you're going to be seeing. Keep an eye on their calendar and at least try to go once. It's a beautiful cultural experience, something that sometimes living in South Florida is difficult to find. And plus, it's a great place to get a break from the heat of South Beach. read more

A great experience. I ended up attending a fantastic event at New World Symphony, and barely new the significance of the place. The other day, I got word of a orchestra in Miami that was going to be playing Beethoven's 2nd. Not as popular as his 5th or 9th, his 2nd is a favorite of mine. I hadn't heard of the location before though. I checked images on line though and it was an incredible looking space. Then I found out what a great price it was, including the student discount and I had to get tickets. My daughter was going to be in town that weekend so I was sure to get tix for us both. we dressed up and showed up for the show that weekend. The building was amazing. Very modern outside, and inside the space was acoustically sound, and a small space. We got seats behind the hard and piano(back and to the left). from the 1st row there, it felt like we were almost part of the orchestra. As the arrangement began, the music swelled and filled up the entire chamber. It could not have been better. We saw a great show, that had a couple solos thrown in as well. Since then I have raved about it. The amazing sound and the great price. I'm sure we will be back very soon. read more

Wow! Start with the terrace outside: a modern version of a palace garden. On said garden your eyes can be delighted by the wallcasts - outdoor display of movies, abstract art and symphony performances. Walking in, you're treated to the Eye-Gasm that a Gehry designed building is: futuristic curves, clean white lines and a lot of technology. For example, even the "posters" advertising future shows are LCD moving displays. Excellent acoustics and comfortable chairs. I stopped by with a friend for the $2.50 mini concerts she found out about. I'll confess: Im not a fan of classical music. I'm the one cracking up that the conductor looks like he's having spasms or that playing the violin looks like they're grinding flies (seem to think that was from a Bugs Bunny episode when I was little ;) Then there's the ADD of sitting cellphone less for an extended amount of time.. That's why last night's mini-concert was perfect. It lasted a little over 30 minutes, and the conductor gave a mini history lesson on the background of the piece and the intent of the composer. Finally it was pleasant seeing how each of the movements of the conductor have a logic to them, and enjoying the beautiful (I'll admit it) harmony of such diverse instruments and artistic talent! read more

I had a conference in Miami on Valentine's day and this the perfect way to celebrate with a friend. The space is gorgeous with a multimedia capability that makes the music more accessible to a wide audience, which is what this project seems all about. The young musicians are top notch, energetic, and give their all to the music. They have access to world class conductors, soloists and teaching which is an amazing opportunity to those involved. I had never been a huge Schumann symphony fan but they made it so fresh and alive that I think I am coverted. The Prokofiev violin concerto was off-balance since we were a little behind the soloist (a flaw of these central-positioned orchestra designs) but it was great to see the whole orchestra work behind the scenes. I have gone to the New World Symphony about 3 to 4 times for Pulse and to watch a concert event outside. First the building Is really nice inside and out. Seating is great no matter where you are. For Pulse you can enjoy drinks from the bar on the first floor or second. Performances are great. Always enjoy the music. If you go for the outside Wall Concert and it is good weather you will enjoy it as well. Bring a blanket or some bring their own chairs with basket to enjoy some light food and drinks and you are good to go. I usually park in the public garage behind the building but you may also try street parking not to far from there either. read more

When reviewing the New World Symphony, what are you evaluating? The mission of the excellent orchestral academy whose alumni have gone on to perform in prominent symphonic orchestras worldwide? Or perhaps it's the excellent New World Symphony Orchestra who perform regularly. Maybe we're talking about their various programs and shows held on campus. It could also be the modern, slick performing arts center that crowns the Lincoln Road pedestrian mall in Miami Beach. The answer is: yes. Of course, New World Symphony is all these things -- and that's one of the reasons New World is so special. Not only is it's academy a great boon to Miami's young but growing cultural scene, but the center itself is an attractive facility near a multitude of dining options for a bite before and after the show. The New World Center venue is a gorgeous piece of architecture designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry (who has also famously designed such prominent structures as the Guggenheim Bilbao, Disney Music Hall in Los Angeles and the Experience Music Project in Seattle). I have heard that there were some acoustic issues inside, but I haven't heard any artifacts or issues at performances we've attended. The performance hall is not huge, and features a peninsula stage surrounded by the audience, and so has a great, intimate feel. The programming we've attended at the center has been universally excellent. These have included: Jazz performances featured in the Miami Beach Jazz Festival, Wallcasts (multimedia orchestral music programs viewable on the lawn and projected on their walls in rich surround sound), and unique Symphonic educational programming (wherein they play selections from various pieces while interspersing it with lectures on the art and it's historical context to help with the appreciation). Overall, I'd say if you have an interest in the arts, it's well worth a visit -- and doing so supports the growth of the cultural development of Miami. read more

What a wonderful, weird, intimate place to listen to great music. Like the classic academies of the Old World, New World is a top music school and an amazing place to discover classical music where you sit close. They have simulcast out to the park/lawn and on to the web, so, if you're not close, you can still be there! The weird part is the venue's construction. Wonderfully acoustic, the seating design kind of lists to one side of the Hall. Everything is kind of asymmetrical. As a Miami Beach native, I want to thank the City and the NWS for bringing something as enriching and special as the new symphony hall to Miami Beach. What a quality and wondrous addition to our community. THANK YOU! As a local, I have been going to the old symphony for many years. The tickets were cheap and the performances were AMAZING. Then, out of nowhere, they decided to build this temple devoted to symphony music AND they got Frank Gehry to design the place! Needless to say, the new building is a masterpiece! The combination of music and architecture make for an outstanding experience. Inside, you will find perfect acoustics (at least to my lay ears) and comfortable seating for all. On the outside, the building sports a beautiful lawn, decorated with metallic sculptures, where people can sprawl out on blankets and listen to live performances as they take place inside. In fact, there is a giant projector that illuminates the huge outer wall of the symphony with a live video feed from the inside. VERY COOL! Most of all, the music is amazing. The students at NWS are GREAT performers and are EXTEMELY talented. You can tell they work hard and are very passionate about what they do. I will be honest... I am totally jealous and wish I had just an inkling of their talent. Speaking of passion... I could not write this review without mentioning the lovely Ms. Bernstein. She is the narrator who educates the audience about the music they are listening to. Sometimes I think she talks a little too much, but it is very endearing because her passion for music is obvious and it is something you feel as you listen to her. For those that don't know, she is also the daughter of the great Leonard Bernstein... need I say more? Thank you Ms. Bernstein for sharing your passion with us... your input adds the element of knowledge to the already enjoyable auditory experience. Besides, who thought it was even possible to add more passion to symphony music? I HIGHLY recommend anyone within a 50 mile radius of Miami Beach who isn't hearing impaired to get themselves to the new symphony hall and enjoy a few performances. Even if you don't like classical music, I would be shocked to hear you didn't absolutely love the experience of seeing NWS students perform it live in their new hall. Perfect acoustics, comfortable all around seating, absolutely gorgeous building inside and out. The purifying effect of filtration is evident in New World Symphony performances. The young performers are inspiring and have a positive influence on the future of art form. I have enjoyed numerous performances here year around and I have been beyond impressed and touched each time. I buy tickets for performances at the NWS for my friends for many occasions. Some performances are quiet, and thoughtful, others are stirring and powerful, but all are masterpieces in their own unique way. I have spoken to many performers during intermission and after the performance and I am impressed by their inclusive thinking and entrepreneurial courage in addition to superlative musical performance. I had fun at last week's Tchaikovsky Wallcast. The acoustics were superb and I was glad to recognize a few of the selections. The place was so packed, my friend and I barely found seating. Parking was difficult too, as a result of the high attendance. We envied all the people sipping wine and eating hors d'oeuvres on their blankets. It's a great dinner picnic idea! After the concert, the musicians and the conductor came out to the park to greet people, talk to them, and take pictures. I was glad to see the bathroom situation was under control this time, despite the fact that attendance this time was about 10 times or more than what it was for the Bach concert. I was also contacted by one of the managers at NWS about this issue and was assured that it's being taken care of. I am glad they reached out to me and are concerned with finding a resolution. That's what I call great customer service! I am hoping to come out Friday for their mini-concert series, which are held indoors, but with the Ultra Music Festival and Winter Music Conference and the throngs of traffic, full parking garages and tourists, I may have to stay home. I cannot say enough good things about this venue. From the moment you approach this mammoth structure you notice the details the architect meant for you to enjoy. The sound garden offers what sounds like a $1M system and if there is a concert going on inside, you get to enjoy a free show on the lawn. Inside, the sound quality of the orchestra will absolutely blow your mind. It is the way that a symphony should be heard. If you are not a fan, you should check it out at least once in your life. It is life altering. The acoustics are beyond perfect. The venue is beautiful, they have an outdoor patio on the top floor that can also be rented for private events. Overlooking the beach and the city of Miami Beach. They also have smaller rooms inside that are plenty big for other type of private events. So far, so good. I've only been here for PULSE, which is the monthly classical concert - slash - cocktail social event that involves three sets (with the third set being the last known, but the real highlight of it). If I was just going for the first two sets, I wouldn't be impressed. It's a little too casual for my liking - there's people walking and milling around while the concert is going on, and some using their phones, others talking to people next to them, and all while trying to act like they're all that just because they have a fancy drink in hand. Don't get me wrong... it's a beautiful building, and an innovative concept that seems to be working in drawing the crowds - and with a great program with interesting and relatively unknown pieces (explanations of each piece usually shown on the upper walls). Just because of these things, I think they merit some praise. And let me explain why the highlight is the little-known last set - it's intimate, small, and up-close personal in a different small space (first come, first serve very limited seating). It is here where I can know how many people came to PULSE to really enjoy the music since most others would have left or just mill out and continue chatting about out in the main lobby. You're sitting in this high chair while they're playing the main highlights from the entire show. This is what makes PULSE worth it - for the music-lovers out there. read more

What a wonderful experience! This was my husband and I's first visit to the New World Symphony and we were just blown away. I had seen pictures online of the fun projections they do whenever a concert is held there, but I never imaged them incorporating the projections for last night's opera performance of Richard Wagner's Lohengrin Act II and Die Walkure Act II. It was such a pleasant surprise! And the subtitles they added to go along with the singing were a great touch. It really helped us follow along with the plot line. You also can't go wrong with where you sit. The design of the auditorium is very intimate, with each seat stacked in a half circle around the main floor where the musicians perform and the stage. You'll always have the best seat in the house! The intermission experience was also very nice. Lines were not too long for the bar, and they served coffee, wine, liquor, and some snacks. You're not allowed to bring food or beverages into the auditorium, but they do provide a nice seating area to kick back, mingle, and enjoy whatever treats you've purchased. read more

Visited this venue this past weekend for their series of PULSE. This event is held on some weekends and it combines the sounds of the Miami Beach orchestra with a light show alongside dance performances and video imaging. First tip: arrive early, otherwise you will have to stand through most of the show and your feet with get tired (speaking from a girl who wears high heels everywhere) Second tip: wait until the second act and then find a seat while others leave to get drinks, u will appreciate the show better if you are comfortably seating down. The show is definitely a spectacle unique of its kind. A mix of 19th and 20th century classicals given a modern interpretation. The orchestra does an amazing job and the music combined with the other effects will captivate you. Spam all stars were part of the last act and had the crowd shaking and moving to the beat. Definitely a great way to spend a Friday night. read more

Attended the Borscht Film Festival event Coral Orgy hosted at the New World Symphony on a Friday evening. It was a night of film, technology, and music that transformed the venue itself into a living work of art. Quality New World Symphony is a gorgeous modern performing arts venue that is housed just a block off Lincoln Road. I have attended several WALLCAST Concert series and I really assumed my first visit inside would be for a symphony. Instead I ended up at an event that was much different. In combination with the Borscht Film Festival, the New World Symphony was completely transformed into a living world. The white walls broadcasted trippy videos and nature films showing coral, as several different ambient and noise pop bands played to their movements. Virtual realty stations, DJs, modern opera singers, and a lights show made it a one of a kind experience. Quantity The main headliner Animal Collective drew a good sized crowd, but there was plenty of space to roam around. The signature event took place in the main area and there were lots of seats available, partly thanks to folks using beanbags and sleeping bags to enjoy the view from the floor. Value Depending on what you are coming to New World Symphony to see the tickets will range in price considerably. This event was reasonably priced, but drinks inside were a bit expensive. Ambiance New World Symphony is located on Miami Beach just a block off Lincoln Road. The outside is an impressive structure that is very sleek and modern. It is a massive white building and uses a large about of glass near the main entrance. Once inside there is a maze of different hallways that open up to small performance spaces and then the primary hall. The blank white walls worked amazingly for this event as they were perfect for projecting different images on. The sound quality was incredible and synchronized great, as the show required certain sounds and music in each area while not imposing on the next section. I spent the most time in the main hall, which in addition to having a standard symphony setup also has three massive overhead walls. On this evening they were showing the different art films, but I could also imagine them showing close ups of the musicians or backgrounds. Crowd It was a trippy indie arts festival and the crowd was exactly what you would expect. Young, hipster, and probably a few people a bit too messed up. However, it really worked out great as the enthusiasm and the belief in the art made for a better experience. Service It definitely was not the normal staff working the building and you could tell. Confusion about where to go and when people were going to perform were widespread problems. Lines formed in places where there was nothing at the end, and the staff were not helpful about preventing them. It really was the only true issue with the event. Parking Just a short walk north is a municipal garage with cheap parking. You can absolutely look for street parking, but the garage is the best bet in this area. Extra The event that I went to at New World Symphony was without question one of a kind. But it was an excellent showcase of the venue, as I ended up exploring more areas than I would for a typical show. It is a beautiful modern venue and it has great acoustics, so I would not hesitate to come back for another show. read more

Courtesy of Benjamin Baum, my boss and symphony sponsor, I got to experience the symphony from the inside this weekend. Most people by now know about the wall cast on the lawn outside, which is fantastic. The parking garage next door was packed with people bringing lawn chairs and picnic baskets for a free concert. After all, there are some things to do in South Beach that are free and totally non-douchey! The venue is so clean you could literally eat off the floor (not that you'd ever do that). It is also small enough that no matter where you sit, they are all great seats. The acoustics are amazing, I literally cried during a cello solo (very Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman) and got goose bumps during the grand finale. Logistics: The parking garage next door has a walkway on the 3rd floor right into the symphony building, very convenient. Flat rate is $15, no discount for Miami Beach locals. Be prepared for long lines as everyone leaves at the same time. There aren't enough bars. Everyone is trying to get something to drink during the 30 minute intermission, so you stand in line for 20 minutes, then you have another 5 minutes to guzzle it down because no drinks are allowed inside. Be respectful and dress clean. Most of the patrons are older locals, all dressed very proper. Some gentlemen wear dinner jackets, some wear button downs with sweaters thrown over the shoulders, very Hampton's preppy. The older ladies dress very tastefully in glittery tops and evening bags. Some of the few younger people wear jeans (boo) so there is no official dress code. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces, simply enjoying the young talented orchestra. I brought my husband to the free Wallcast session for his birthday in an effort to salvage the night (original plans were foiled - thank you, Valentine's Day crowds) and were totally happy we ended up here! I had read up on this place, but wasn't sure exactly what to expect. Still, I forged on and set up a surprise (wine) picnic for us. We were able to get a really nice spot on the second level of the lawn right by the seating area. One thing to beware of is that as the place starts getting packed, some people will just come and sit in front of you and block you. But it's nothing a nice tap on the shoulder and dirty look can't fix! Anyways, we arrived there about an hour before to set up camp. As far as parking, we parked in the 17th street garage and took a short walk to the building. We found our spot, uncorked the sweet juice, and sat there enjoying the crisp clear night until the show began. The symphony was great - I wouldn't suggest coming here unless you actually like classical music, though. Some people were just there for the experience and weren't too courteous when the orchestra was playing. But if you do decide to go and you fall into that category, please sit toward the back! If you gotta go tinkle, you can't go inside the NWS establishment to use the bathrooms. There's this lone little building (looks like a shed almost) off the side of the park close to Lincoln Road where you would go. Things you can bring: - blanket or large spread to sit on - beach chairs - alcohol (yay) - food (Pizza Rustica seemed to be a favorite) - kids On that last point, I mean kids as in not babies or toddlers. They need to be able to sit quietly once the show begins. If I brought my daughter I'd be banned for life! Best part about this place is that it's so beautiful and unmetropolian (not a real word, but it is for this review!). But as soon as you leave the park, you're right on bustling Lincoln Road! One of my favorite place in Miami. It's one of the things that I'm missing from my hometown. If you have a small baby Wallcast Concerts is the best, because it's only one place where you can listen to classic music and don't worry that your child will be boring...they don't need to seat on one place. So bring with you favorite bottle of wine and chairs... calm down and relax! One small advice, come earlier to get the best place to seat. read more

New World Symphony - Performing Arts Near Me - Miami Beach, Florida

Please Note: I'm reviewing the tour. For $5, you can join on a private tour of the Frank Gehry designed building. While the tour only lasts an hour, and most of that hour is filled by anecdotes by the tour guide who usually only gives tours to elementary school children, being able to get a private peek at this wonderfully constructed building is worth it for a few reasons: -Learning about the recital hall: while only sitting 400, the hall can be converted to fill a larger ensemble, or a solo piano. -Learning about free tickets. They've learned that only 75% of people ever make it to events, which means if you arrive the day of events, there is a good chance you could get seats, possibly even free. On top of the free showing on the grounds outside. -The rooftop view: while only 6 stories, this is plenty to see the ocean, the skyline and pretty much all of South Beach. Just a nice, relaxing moment. read more

So fun, and it is a very beautiful building. Glad it was only an hour long however. The music was so peaceful that it started to put me to sleep a little. The only thing that would make it better would be reclining chairs and an intermission to allow for a quick cat nap. read more

This venue is spectacular, I love the architecture from the outside in. I visited for the Symphony Orchestra's American Music History concert, and I absolutely loved it, not just because of the fabulous musicians but because the venue is ideal to keep you engaged. The seating is cozy and personal offering great views from all angles, and the use of the ceiling walls to project videos was so entertaining and kept me on my toes. The acoustics were great. I love the garage with direct access from the third floor, very convenient. The staff was friendly, the bathrooms were clean. I will definitely be back for more concerts. read more

I went for the Russian experience courtesy of yelp as part of their culture month. This is a solid outing. The building has ridiculously impressive orchestra and its perfectly next to Lincoln road for the full evening experience. The talent is impressive as the fellows are all trained at top art institutions and alumni go to some of the top orchestras in the country (Boston, New York, Philadelphia, etc). The place sounds excellent. There were two complementary mixed drinks (premade rum drinks with ginger beer/bitters or coca cola) afterwards and the orchestra members joined so you could meet them after the show. My only complaint is the fact that its not just about the music. It has an educational component and there is a speaker who spends a great deal of time lecturing on the music. While interesting, I found it mostly boring and distracting from the excellent music. I parked on the street off alton and I do not believe there is associated parking, however the 17th street garage is nearby. There is plenty of seating but the venue mostly filled for this event. read more

The NWS is absolutely gorgeous in side and out. The concert hall is engineered for perfect sound and the symphony itself is just magical. I am huge fan of pretty much any and music, to be lucky enough to catch a symphony at an affordable price, makes me proud to be a Miamian. read more

I guess we're treating this as the location known as the New World Center, the Frank Gehry-designed venue in Miami Beach. It's beautiful, as you may have heard. The craftsmanship in the auditorium and the gathering places outside of the performance area is impeccable. It's a place I wouldn't mind lingering before and after a show--unlike most performance halls. We saw Philip Glass there last night, it was lovely. The performance space is beautiful, fresh, relaxing, and intimate. The seats are comfortable. The acoustics are alarmingly effective. If I didn't know any better, I might be able to have a conversation with someone on the other side of the auditorium. The auditorium is in actually in the round, but calling the NWC an arena is a gross misrepresentation. There appears to be no bad seats. read more
