Jackie Gleeson Theater has been a goto place in Miami Beach for concerts, theater, comedians and sometime even famous magician. It's small enough that any seat in theater is good. I went to Lara Fabian concert and was fortunate enough to get front Roa seats. Theater is beautiful and well maintained and full bar and food also available. Look forward to my next event there!

Many awesome ballets are performed here, concerts and much much more, comes with a strict dress code Suit and Collar, shirt will suffice as the soaring heat of the sun is to too much to wear a suit, must have shirt collar and bow tie !!! A magificent Art Deco theater Parking can be found at metered streets, municipal lots and garage, there is a drive way to the front doors for drop off and pick up, ideal for a taxi cab or limousine what ever your fancy.

Much has changed in South Beach in the two decades that I have been living in Miami. One of the few constants is the Jackie Gleason Theater. I've seen performances here on and off over the years -- David Sedaris, Margaret Cho, Mamma Mia, Tori Amos among others -- and I am delighted that it is still a part of the landscape of this city. Last week, I saw Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker which was fun, joyous and captivating. Conveniently located a block or so north of Lincoln Road, the Jackie Gleason Theater has maintained its relevance by showcasing the types of performers and acts that fill its mid-size stage and which have an enthusiastic and/or underground following. Built in the late 1950s, several recent renovations have ensured that its interior, lighting and sound are up to date to meet the expectations of today's audiences. The venue staff are always friendly and helpful - I purchased my tickets at the Box Office and got terrific seats thanks to the recommendation of the ticket agent. Likewise, great service at the concession stand. Performances start on time and ushers direct attendees to their seats quickly (and discreetly when they arrive late...!). There are several parking garages near the theater and its proximity to Lincoln Road makes dining options a breeze as well.

Worst place ever to go to a concert, entrance line is over 3 blocks, and takes over an hour to get. Not worth it never attend an event here!

Found a RuPaul's Drag Race elimination round watch party. And this is how I learned about Villain Theater! From what I gathered, there is quite a variety of programming here like improv and comedy shows A friend and I met up here for the big event. I've been familiar with Little Haiti for decades but admittedly haven't kept up with what's going on since the area started changing. All that to say, I went in totally blind. Well, honey. Villain Theater opened my eyes! Wide open, in a great way. There is a lobby/waiting area with a concession stand and restrooms. The theater inside is dark with low lighting, plenty of seating and a stage that is easily viewable from any seat in the room. On the evening I visited, not only was there the RPDR watch party with amazing hosts, there was even an all-out revue! Now, I wasn't expecting this. Nevertheless, it was certainly an entertaining and tasteful experience with expert performers as well as amateurs. Pro tip is bring plenty of cash ($1s and $5s) - I know for next time. Performers also accept tips via electronic payment. :) Villain Theater felt like an all-inclusive safe space. Everyone was welcomed in and treated with respect. I highly commend the staff and hosts for doing an excellent job in that regard. Major pluses were free parking, cheeeap drinks and they have popcorn!

I didn't get to try the food since we came from dinner. But they offer a selection of drinks. The show did run a little bit longer than expected. What's cool is that there are opportunities for you to take improv classes and also take your company here for team building.

Built at a cost…read moreof $150,000, it first opened as a 1,200 seat Art Deco Paramount Pictures movie house on January 25, 1935 with actress Carol Lombard as the guest of honor. In the 1940's during WWII, the theater showed health and training videos to GI's in training. In the 1960's the movie theater was renovated along with all of Lincoln Road in the MiMo style of architecture (midcentury modern). Seating capacity was reduced to 894 seats. In the ensuing years the Colony used as a movie house and a live performance space. In 1971 Samuel Kipnis purchased the theater and used it to host The Greater Miami Educational Cultural Series and he showed educational films from his private collection. In 1982 ownership of the theater was taken over by the City of Miami Beach and the Miami City Ballet used it as a performance space. In 2006 the Colony Theatre underwent a $6.5 million renovation that returned it to its original Art Deco style and updated it with new light and sound equipment. I love when a historic building is saved, especially when it is such a wonderful example of Art Deco architecture. How wonderful that the theater is still being used today. It is even said to be haunted to be the spirit of a barking poodle and one that likes to hang out by the main stage and lobby. Today the Colony Theatre is a 417 seat performance venue managed by South Florida theater company, Miami New Drama who perform their theatrical season in the theater. The Colony also hosts film festivals, comedy, music, dance, and theater performances. The theater is nicknamed "Miami's Beauty Queen." Make like the golden age of Hollywood and take in a show. .

That's really the key to a long relationship-seeing each other on a regular basis, doing things that are fun and different outside of the house, consistent quality time without work interruptions. Making this a priority - is important. All of you out there "newlyweds" trust me it makes a difference. So we went to the Colony theater on Lincoln Road. It was a cool night -perfect for a cocktail, relaxing and easy.. no hurry just taking in the sights and sounds. Latin music playing in the background, smell of perfume and spices in the air- outdoor cafes with with the warmth of flame lamps lighting the cool air. Breezing into the theater the sweet girl at the door greeted us with a huge smile and scanned our tickets. I fell in love with the play " Anna in the Tropics" this extraordinary play written by the Pulitzer Prize winner Nilo Cruz-playwright and director -is a work of art! It demonstrates the power of literature to move and inspire you. One of my favorite books, Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, is central to this play. I thoroughly enjoyed the powerful images presented in this masterpiece. Art and literature came together in an extraordinary and impactful way. It is a play for adults because it deals with strong themes. But it is well done! I highly recommend this play! It is worth every penny. The quaint theatre situated on Lincoln Road surrounded by restaurants and bars was also quite comfortable and accommodating.

This Burlesque show, called Cocktails and Cabaret, unites classic American standards like "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" with contemporary pop songs like "Uptown Funk." It is classy, polished, playful, sensual, colorful and upbeat. Sunni Stephens is a great vocal talent with great stage presence, an approachable diva with wit, sass, and charm, and dripping with sexiness and sensuality. She brings highly respected Burlesque artists from across the world with wide ranging styles but all with artistry. I especially liked Pearle. Josette Pimenta is another excellent vocalist who is a perfect complement to Sunni Stephens. Often they sing together. They both fully possess the sexiness, sultry charm, playfulness, and strong stage presence in the style of the Marilyn Monroe era. Nicely mingled between ballads are first rate dancers with talent, style, energy and saltiness of the historic Vegas era. Jennifer Solano is the choreographer and lead dancer. She is a veteran Vegas dance, consummate artist with exceptional timing, skill, rhythm and flair. She owns the stage when she performs. She and her dancers wear fabulous and colorful Vegas style outfits with hats. Altogether, Clubesque offers great singing, a humorous drag queen hostess Noel Leon, beautiful dancing, and energy to have you cheering for more. If you like the music of great American standards, Donna Summers, Cher, Latin dance, and Sinatra classics, you'll find that and more. Open bar and table seating add to the old Hollywood and Vegas ambience. They all come off the stage and sing and dance by your seat. You won't get that kind of intimacy from major pop performers. Miami is fortunate to have such talent dedicated to offering a fun, sexy and lively musical production at a reasonable price. Go see it! Bring your partner and friends. Everyone I have taken has loved it. I bet you will too!

I won the tickets from Yelp and I can't thank them enough. Every seat in the show is designed to see the performance from a great angle. The stage is circular and the artists sort of rotate in a way that no matter if your sitting in the last row or the first, you will enjoy it. You can buy the tickets online and the show is still currently being featured until February 4 2018. (I think) My favorite act was the one where they used bicycles and did some amazing acrobatic things with them. I always enjoy the singing or music aspect of Cirque Du Soleil as well. Side Note: Parking is convenient and always monitored by the employees, so your vehicle will not get stuck or no one will block it. It was cash or you can use your sun pass sticker which makes it $5 cheaper. VOLTA is here for a little while longer in Miami, go check it out to get amazed by the performances.~

Oh VOLTA…read more This show is unlike any other Cirque Du Soleil show I've seen yet. This show has everything you expect from a Cirque show and more. The show has high flying aerialist and acrobats performing hoop diving, rings and even slackline. Jump ropers who go as fast as the light on the rope - and BMX riders that can perform tricks on their bikes that will leave your jaw on the ground. This show incorporates technology in the show with the lighting and use of projection on the stage to show "memories". The show is well constructed and has a great storyline behind it. The greys, the free spirits and the super elites. The costumes in this show are unique with each grouping mentioned above, as each costume has a different representation. The music in the show is great, it is something that can be listened to often and you would not know that it belong to a Cirque Du Soleil show. The Grand Chapiteau (the big top) is designed differently than the traditional colors of the big top which are usually a yellow gold and a dark blue. Volta has a grey big top tent and then they associate with lights so the tent changes colors which is neat to see at night time. The show is great for a girls night out, date night with a significant other or a day out with the kiddos. Just remember to find your free spirit.
