I have had several extremely disappointing experiences at New West Physicians ( 11552 Sheridan Blvd, Westminster, CO 80020). I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone. First, they require you to arrive 15 minutes early to complete paperwork, even if you've already filled everything out online ahead of time. If not, they will not see you and make you reschedule. The entire experience felt disorganized and frustrating. There are plenty of other providers out there who value their patients' time and treat them respectfully. I highly recommend going somewhere else. read more

I called in yesterday to see if someone could see me after my dad passed away. The person that answered the phone said it was my doctor's last day (unbeknownst to me) and to call urgent care or go to an ER. I asked if someone else could see me. He said no and then hung up on me. It was so incredibly rude. I immediately contacted a different doctors office and got signed on with a new PCP. Do not feed this corporate owned money machine prioritizing profits over patient health. I have been a patient here for 20 years. I absolutely agree with the other comments that since UnitedHealthcare/Optum purchased New West Physicians, it has become nightmare of incompetence. I was referred to a specialist on February 25, 2025 by Dr. Kylie Beukema (wonderful MD!) and I'm STILL waiting to even get an initial appointment 6 months later due to miscoding my condition multiple times!! By the way, she left the practice in March, no surprise there. 1.The referrals are not handled in house and the phone contact you are given often leads you to a full voicemail or doesn't connect at all. 2. They only want to refer you to Optum contracted physicians 3. Front of office staff has actually lectured me rudely for being frustrated with my situation while my condition deteriorates!! 4. I'd spoken to Corbett, the regional manager in early July and he assured me there would be correction of my situation (spoiler, he now doesn't return my call) 5. The phone number they give in the canned responses to these reviews leads you to a healthcare conglomerate in Nevada with no humans on the line. 6 months with no ability to set up an appointment with a needed specialist while my condition rapidly deteriorates is malpractice and malfeasance. My entire multiple generation family IS LEAVING THE PRACTICE! read more

My father-in-law is in the hospital on an emergency basis. He's 87 years old. His 85-year-old wife is in the hospital and cannot drive. We live in Illinois. The hospital does not have a document related to his medical proxy. I called in an attempt to get a copy faxed over from his Physician's practice and the individual responding on the phone, a woman, could not find him in the system. He has been a patient with the same medical practice for over 40 years. She became impatient. She didn't feel like helping us. It was too hard. She was busy. So she could not be bothered to look up the document on his medical proxy and fax it to the hospital so my father-in-law could have appropriate medical decision making during what may well be some of his last days. Do not go anywhere near this practice. They do not care. They cannot be bothered. I deeply regret I didn't get the name of the woman I spoke to. She was legit a monster. read more

It's impossible to reach anybody over the weekend even an emergencies. Also, most importantly for me they do not respond to request for refills of medication from the vendors who send the request. Therefore, I'm on the verge of running out of my medication and I can't reach anybody. read more

I have been going to this doctors office for over 10 years over the Thanksgiving weekend. I ended up in the emergency room and needed to follow up with my doctor made an appointment over the phone set up an appointment for 8 AM Tuesday morning. I showed up to my appointment and they said they no longer use my insurance that I can still be seen out of network. Instead of wasting my time and their time they could've said something over the phone and I would've found a new doctor in network. I have never been so disappointed in primary care provider in my life. I came in for a physical exam, and 4 months later received a bill for a copay for "therapeutic services" .. Upon more research, it came to my attention that they billed for a service that was never rendered. Tavia Gabbert did not provide ANY service and was paid nearly $1000 from my insurance. She came in and when discussing my concerns, her advise was to "google possible interactions and to see if I want to take a medication with the risks." This is the type of care you can receive here. There is also NO ONE to talk to about concerns you have so providers can basically NOT treat you and get away with while getting paid thousands of dollars I have filed complaint with my insurance as well as with New West Physicians, specifically Tavia Gabbert and will do what I can to insure insurance fraud like this does not continue to happen. Worst billing practices. I checked on this office being in network for my medical insurance by looking up this provider on a) my medical insurance webpage, b) calling this doctor's office New West Physicians to confirm in-network status with my insurance plan, and c) double-checking prior to my visit with the medical office staff at the counter that they take my insurance, I thought I am good to go, since they all showed and communicated directly with me "in-network" with my plan. However, about 3 weeks after the visit I received a huge bill from them for a very short visit with no illnesses or checking for it, nor any testing whatsoever. Reason: Out of network provider. I literally have a screen shot from my health insurance website stating their in-network status with my plan. What is wrong with these people?!?! Unethical or just inept, both not acceptable. Since Dr. Coomes left, I have run into some bad doctors there but doctor Yeash is good. The chief of staff even contacted me and he didn't have a clue about what I was talking about. I have to say the only reason I would go back is because of Dr. Yeash. Dr. Yeash knows his shit. He always gets things right. He listens to his patients. He makes sure that they are on the same page. This ONE-STAR review is for the PRACTICE- and not the doctor. My doctor was AMAZING! (Her name is Kylie Beukema and she's FIVE-STAR all the way!) This PRACTICE/COMPANY could be much better. They've chosen not to accept Cigna insurance. I understand that business is business- but you're dealing with people's health and lives. A 3-month window to change doctors doesn't fare well if you are healing from a chronic illness or in the middle of treatment. So... after healing from cancer, and having a kidney removed, I get to go in search of a new primary-care physician??? What kind of sadists are you people? To the folks who made the decision to drop Cigna- may you have the life you have 'provided' for us Cigna carriers- including incomplete treatments, and no access to current, potentially life-saving prescriptions, as well as the life you DESERVE for making this short-sighted (selfish, dollar-driven) decision. This office seems to be disorganized. The front desk almost never answers the phone. If you want to talk to someone, you have to drive to the office. I went to Dr. Lewan with some health concerns, he said he only had time for a few of my concerns and to schedule another appointment to address the rest of them. I scheduled the next appointment and I felt like this doctor did not want to address my health issues. I felt like he had an attitude with me and this doctor was not the right fit. He didn't want run any test to see any of my levels stating that I didn't need it. I was rushed thru my appointment left with a very dissatisfied visit. I want a doctor that listens and cares. If you have any self respect or concern for your wellbeing, avoid this place. I can say it because I know it well--I've been going to New West since pre-kindergarten, but due to my recent visits I will never return. First, before visiting Africa I called to request a record of my vaccination records, of which they have none, even though I've been going to this office since I was like 4. So I had to get vaccinated for everything all over again for my trip. When I called to schedule labs, the scheduler apparently booked the appointment as a consultation, giving me only 15 min.; at the appointment, the physician's assistant informed me the appointment wasn't sufficient time for labs, and that I would have to schedule a longer appointment to get labs--nevermind the fact that I'd made the appointment for labs when I called. The most egregious of treatments occurred three weeks ago when I broke my arm. Here's how that went: I called and said "I broke my arm. I need x-rays and a cast." They scheduled me for the last 15-min slot of the day, so I sat at home for three hours until I went in. When I did, the Dr pushed around on my arm and asked how I did it. I knew it was broken; I've broken it twice before. She goes, "Yeah, you need x-rays, but our x-ray machine is really old and doesn't give good readings." She told me that I would have to go to a different place that does x-rays, but no casting. She said that she would call in for me to make sure they could see me, because they were closing in 30 min. Already I'm like why tf didn't you tell me this when I made the appointment. She verified my pharmacy for the pain meds I needed to sleep. So I quickly drove to the place she suggested, and was told upon arrival no one had called in for me, and that I couldn't be x-rayed without a doctor's order. I sat in that waiting room for an hour and a half while the imaging staff tried to contact someone from New West, which had closed by that point. They got a hold of someone eventually and x-rayed me and sent it to my Dr. After another long wait she called the office to speak to me, and said, "Sorry, I'm at my child's elementary school for an event so I have to be quick. Yeah you broke both bones. We can cast you tomorrow." When I tried to pick up my pain meds they weren't at my pharmacy, and after much running around and calling I discovered she had sent it to my old pharmacy, even after having verified with me my preferred pharmacy. Whether that's apathy or lack of attention to detail makes no difference; New West proved to me in several ways that I didn't matter and they dgaf. The next day I went to Front Range Ortho, which is what I should have done in the first place. read more

I actually have been quite impressed so far with this office! My partner and I came together for physicals, and he had a lot of follow up questions. For our first appointment, they were able to give us back to back time slots. Everyone was friendly. And we were taken back to our rooms right on time! We both liked our doctors a lot. His doctor provided a few referrals for follow up exams, which have also been smooth to schedule. All of our bloodwork and test results appeared in a matter of days on their online portal. And when I had questions, I used the messaging app online, and my doctor was very responsive. I've been back two more time since the initial visit for follow up blood work and exams. And the most I've ever had to wait was about 10 minutes, and everyone has always been friendly and nice. My partner had to call a few times to speak to people, and there was an annoying game of phone tag involved with getting a hold of his doctor on the phone. But, that's really the only slightly negative thing I can think of. It's been great so far! read more

The front staff is absolutely unorganized as well as every doctor I have seen here has been over 45 minutes late to my actual appointment. I arrived 10 minutes early to my check in time, and have been waiting for over an hour without being seen by a doctor yet. Don't even try calling to schedule an appointment either unless you have 30 minutes to wait on the phone before speaking to some. Absolutely ridiculous. Changing doctors after today. read more

Pleasant waiting room, pleasant check-in, docs took the time to address my concerns, making my trip really stress free- they take the time to make you feel at ease and they don't rush you, which is something that is felt at a lot of other places. I recommend the doctors, however I wouldn't recommend the medical office. The front office staff is horrible. Every time I've walked in, 3 people are chitchatting (including the office manager) and I have to wait for the one person working to get finished with what they are doing. I have been to the office 3 times just to get a blood test for hypothyroidism! Each time was due to miscommunication, I'm guessing because the staff is too busy chitchatting then taking care of their patients. I can't even give a star. When I told the person at the front desk I should just find another doctor, her response was "OK". I would say based on other reviews, the office manager is the problem, or maybe the whole front office staff. read more

Billing office is horrible. I've called 3 times for them to fix a billing issue. They billed me for a day I didn't even have an appointment. I almost think it's insurance fraud and I told them that. I've been going to New West Physicians for years. At one point I had to leave them and go to Kaiser due to company insurance changes. However, I'm now back with them. I missed the sense of community I get from them. The small town feel in a large city. I have found the front desk reception to be professional and timely. When I have needed to go in quickly due to illness, they have always accommodated me. Lab results are quick and they will call you personally each time to give you the results plus update your patient profile on their portal. Honestly, I hope I never have to leave them again. I am updating my review. I attempted to find a new office and a new doctor. However, I could not find a doctor that compared to Dr. Coomes, who is wonderful!, so I returned to this office and enlisted my husband to accompany me and act as support person. There seems to have been a change in staff and/or training, because I have not experienced any more problems with this office. The staff I have interacted with over the past few months have been friendly, respectful and helpful. I have not had any problems with appointments or long wait times. (There will always be wait times at a doctor's office, but I haven't been asked to wait more than 15 minutes in the recent past, which I think is pretty good.) My doctors are great. Dr. Coomes and Lou Lyons are the best and I feel they really care about their patients - especially Lou. However they are never on time. I have strict time constraints and cannot be in a waiting room for an hour. My job does not allow me flexibility. I went for just blood work and had an appt at 9:45 a.m. I had been fasting and at 10:10 a.m. they still had not called me back. The techs were walking around so I knew they were available. This is not rocket science. I would not recommend the office - but I would the doctors. read more

The doctors are not the issue in this clinic. It is the management and billing team. If I could give no stars I would. Ramara is the office manager and I have left 10 plus messages for her to call me back over the past several months due to billing issues and she has yet to call me 1 time! My family has been there 4 times this year and everytime they have billed incorrectly or not posted payment to the accounts. They have secret contracts with specialty offices that say all their patients must be referred to the certain specialist and then new west sends you a bill for out of network charges for going to the one and only place you were allowed to go to. I have spent countless hours trying to resolve this issue and no one is willing to help or fix their mistakes. My insurance company had also called new west several times with no resolution. I have been dealing with this out of network billing issue since April and it is still NOT resolved. They also commint insurance fraud by not billing the insurance for for correct procedure codes and visit charges and when I try to get them to correct it they state that they "will not" correct it. New West Physicians is not worth the stress you will receive due to their incompetent billing and lack of management! read more

This is not about the doctors, every doctor has been amazing. This is for billing. My baby girl went in December for her two day and two week checks. Insurance card was given our insurance covers those visits at 100%. Two months later I received a bill for $300 for the appointments. I called the billing, they saw the mistake and I re-gave my insurance info just to make sure (WE HAD GONE TO MULTIPLE APPOINTMENTS SINCE WITH THE SAME INSURANCE WITH NO PROBLEM) they promised they would bill insurance, even gave a confirmation number. One month later I got THE SAME BILL. I called and they reassured me they would fix it, I believed them and let it go. I checked my insurance and saw it NEVER WAS GIVEN TO THEM. I called again and they have never fixed it and NOW THEY SENT THE BILL TO COLLECTIONS ! I have never had a bill go to collections, and was reassured multiple times that they knew it was their fault and they would fix it. THEY STILL HAVE NOT. This could hurt my credit and I am really upset. Their billing is very disorganized. They are saying they will bill my insurance, but I don't believe them I am calling everyday until it's fixed. Its absolutely ridiculous that so many people did not do their job and just sent the bill through my insurance WHICH IS FULLY COVERED. They also never even notified me about sending it to collections, the last I was told is that it would be fixed completely and I didn't have to worry. I am BEYOND frustrated and want it fixed. read more

The staff at New West Physicians Broomfield needs a complete retraining.  I was trying to get an appointment as a new patient (they won't make close in appointments for new patients, the earliest is 3 weeks out normally) as my child was sick.  So I found another provider and made an appointments during fall break for my child and family so we could get out of that "new patient" category.  An hour before that appointment the office called and said the doctor was not available and would need to reschedule.  Fine.  No problem, I advised I had taken the day off of work and my kids were home from school and we could do anytime that day to reschedule.  As we really didn't have much to cover other than one specific time sensitive item, anytime would do, including a short appointment with anyone else at the facility.  I was told the systems were down, and to call back in 30 minutes.  This continued on all morning, then when the systems were up, they said they couldn't reschedule us for that day.  I then spoke with the Practice Manager who said that there was no way out of the "new patient" category until we were seen, even if the practice was the one who was preventing us from being seen.  So I rescheduled the appointment for almost 3 weeks later and asked for my urgent time sensitive matter to be handled over the phone.  The Practice Manager asked me to drop off some additional paperwork and promised she would have someone call me.  That was Tuesday.  I dropped the paperwork off Wednesday morning.  On Wednesday she confirmed she had received the paperwork and would have someone reach out before the end of the week.  Friday at 2:30 PM I still hadn't heard from anyone.  I e-mailed her, and she said she spoke with the NP and they were reviewing the case and would have then call me .  It's now 4:30 PM I still hadn't heard from anyone.  I called and their phone # transferred to the answering service.  Their answering service refused to take or relay a message and asked me to call back in 5 minutes.  After multiple returns calls in the requested 5 minute intervals, the answering service hanging up on me, and it now being past 5PM, they finally took a message.  So I didn't have the information I was promised by the weekend I needed it.  I'm still not considered a existing patient, have two appointments for my kids, and still need to schedule a third appointment for me.  The staff is unreasonable to work with, inflexible, doesn't know the first thing about Customer Service, and can't keep an appointment nor a promise even when it's to make up for an appointment they they failed to make.  If this is how they treat a new patient, I would hate to know how they treat an existing patient or someone in a medical emergency. Had I missed the appointment or cancelled within an hour of it (which is what they did to me), I would have been charged $50 -- there is even on a sign at the front desk stating as much!  When I pointed that out to them, they just laughed and had no other response.  Prior owner replies to bad reviews say they pride themselves at providing great customer service, I have given them multiple chances to provide even a minimum level of service; and have been utterly disappointed, disregarded, disrespected, and completely un-serviced at every step of the process.  Not even the Practice Manager can be trusted to keep her word. A complete failure from all perspectives.  I would love to be able to give a review of the doctors and/or their abilities but the establishment has yet to even allow me to see nor speak to one of their providers after repeated attempts to get service. read more

I wish I could speak for how good the doctors are, but the front desk is atrocious. I was a prospective new patient and was asked to come a half hour early for paperwork. When I got an email confirming my appointment there was a mention of downloading and completing the new patient paperwork on my own before I came. SO, I did that, and came 10 minutes before my scheduled appointment. When I entered the office, the FIRST thing out of the receptionist's mouth was not "Welcome" or even a smile, but rather "You're Late you missed your check-in time." After I explained I did most of the paperwork and had a few more things to fill out with some clarification, the receptionist said they would have to reschedule the appointment. If they were up front with how strict they were with this policy, I guess that would be one thing, or if this was such a big deal, why bother to offer to have the patient download the forms on their own in the first place and just build in the extra time into the appt slot? I decided based on this bad experience this place wasn't worth my time and money. I decided to go here because my wife is a patient, needless to say they lost two patients today. read more

They make it easy to get in for an appointment. front desk staff is very nice & accommodating. I've always seen Doctor Lyon, she wasn't available this time so had to visit the clinic downstairs. The tech or nurses assistant was efficient...Although when she forcefully but not very gracefully shoved a 6 inch cotton swab onto my tonsils, it nearly made me lose my stomach. Better bedside manner could have been utilized. On top of that they ask you to put masks on when you're sick but don't even have the kind with elastic ear wraps. So I was trying to tie a face mask on myself-unwrap it for the swab. Then the pa Amanda asked me to put it back on when she was in the room. In my opinion Get the kind that wrap around the ears or be kinder to patients who don't feel good and offer to tie it yourself. While waiting for the PA I listened to the 2 of them (nurses assistant) talk about their personal lives for probably 3 or so minutes. When they finished talking the PA Amanda came straight in with my strep test. At that point she informed me the test was negative and insincerely attempted to be sympathetic while explaining Other alternatives-which I had already been utilizing. Very fake & non-genuine which is a pet peeve of mine. At least suck it up and be convincingly sympathetic!!! I understand that hands are tied with prescribing antibiotics these days-but literally only go to the doctor if I am desperate (have taken antibiotics twice my entire life and am almost 30) not too worried about creating superbugs here!! I explained this all to Amanda and clearly she saw from my records Lyon had never prescribed antibiotics to me. Plus the fact that I did not have insurance, was miserable, and could not afford to miss anymore work. Just wanted antibiotics for the nasty green thick snot so i could go to work!! Next time I will save the 100$ visit & have antibiotics from Canada or India on hand!! read more

I agree with Christina. I have gone here just a couple of times, but I already like this place. The ease of appointment is far better than with other medical practices. And they keep in touch with you about the test results - you don't have to call them. They call you to ensure that you got the results and explain what the doc thinks about those results. read more

Ive been going to New West physicans for pretty much my whole life. When I was young my experience was much better than it is now. I notice that when I call the wait is always really long not to mention they hardly ever can get me in right away. The staff is not very friendly especially the front desk. They don't seem to enjoy what they do. I wish I could say my experience was better but the last 3 times I've been it hasn't changed. read more

This is by far one of the worst places you could go to for medical care. The nurse practitioner (because they won't give you an actual doctor) doesn't know what she's doing, I have no idea what their criteria is for billing because one visit they billed for 15 minutes, the next 25 when I spent the exact same amount of time there. Their annual physical was the nurse taking my temperature and my blood pressure - same thing they do at a normal visit except they can charge triple for it. She actively discouraged me from doing a pap smear even though it had been 3 years and wouldn't do routine blood work. She did nothing. And now, 8 months after the last time I saw anyone there and 2 months after the last invoice they sent me (which covered all the visits up until that last visit on 11/20) which I immediately paid in full, they send me a delinquent notice and threaten to send me to collections. No details, no invoice, just pay up or go to collections. Go anywhere else, this is a sham of a "medical" practice. They don't give you medical care and then they charge you for mystery charges and threaten collections. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

The doctors in the practice are great, but they're never on time and the front staff is really disorganized. I have had 3 appointments this month- the first one I waited over an hour before being seen, the second one they were mostly on time, today- I had the first appointment of the day at 7 am and it was snowing. I left my house at 6:30 to make sure I would arrive on time. When I arrived a nurse took my vitals then asked me to wait for the doctor. At 7:15, she came back and asked if I could come back at 12:30 because my doctor wasn't in the office yet. I asked if I could see another provider and went to check and learned that they didn't have any doctors in the office- everyone was just waiting. I couldn't come back at 12:30 because I had to work. I couldn't schedule a new appointment because their computer system was down. Nobody has called to apologize or reschedule my appointment and I've now been on the phone for 24 minutes- waiting to reschedule. I'm so disappointed in this office, I keep giving them another chance because the doctors are great- but this may be the last straw! read more
