We had a small little outside "pond" (aka large pot) that needed a major remodel. It smelled so bad and the guppies just completely took over. Tyson (the owner and our savior) came over and helped save us and our "pond". It was such an eye sore and basically smelled like a swamp. Now it's nice and clean. Definitely not an eye sore anymore and is actually relaxing to just look at. They just opened their retail shop in Pearl City Industrial Park. These guys are professionals! They know all about freshwater and salt water tanks and ponds. They'll work with you for your perfect set up and have so many options available. Their retail space is just open Saturday/Sunday. My old waterfall feature was leaking somewhere, the lining needed to be cleaned up and the hose to my pump replaced. Just a whole bunch of repairs for an old system. Pono came up and surveyed giving me a positive response of being able to restore to like new! He is a very busy and booked so he warned me that he would come over several days having to accommodate his customers. He finished my job within 1.5 weeks which was worth it. There's a new cool aquarium dude in town and he's badass at what he does! These other companies better take notes from Tyson when it comes to impeccable customer service and awesome attention to details. I contacted Tyson because my fish pond turned into a putrified swampy mosquito-infested mess (thanks again to my ghetto ex-tenants). I've gotten quotes from two other companies but their communication and lack of customer service left much to be desired. I have been a paying customer for a while, $75 maintenance fee every two weeks for a 4-feet radius, 2 feet deep, small pond. I have been an overall good customer and never really complained. Even after Tyson was supposed to have fixed my pond for losing so much water, which I paid for, it continued to have the same problem. Yes, I did not complain about paying for something they should have but did not fix it. Recently, I asked Tyson if I can have my pond maintenance every three weeks, instead of every two, even just temporarily because I must cut down on my spending. I pay at least $10K a month on income taxes alone. Tyson stopped responding to my texts. It's not like I am asking for free services. I would have been fine with an increased rate such as from $75 to $100 per service, but only requesting a change in frequency of maintenance from 2 to 3 weeks. Money is not everything. I have a small ( 100 gallon ) built in pond on my lanai that I was having algae problems with. Most people that I contacted in the business said they didn't do small jobs. I went to The Aquaponics Place in Waimanalo and they gave me Tyson's business card. The day I called him he came by to see and evaluate the pond. He said no problem he could install an ultraviolet light and reposition my filter. My condo lanai is concrete and as Tyson and I were talking I mentioned that I had wanted to lay down some artificial turf. I told him that an estimate I had gotten was ridiculously high! Tyson said I can do that! We agreed and he got back to me with a very reasonable quote. What so impressed me about Tyson is his attention to detail! He is a perfectionist! He had never laid artificial turf before but he researched it ( throughly) and did an amazing job! As for the pond and the ultraviolet light, he installed the light in a creative an attractive way inside a faux rattan box, repositioned my filter and did some adjustments and all is well!
