We loved finding this little gem. Tammy was very helpful and made great suggestions. My son had a great time finding Easter eggs in between the plants and learning about different perennials. Great variety and helpful staff. Also there's a loyalty program to make things fun! read more

Needed an upgrade to my backyard and Ive noticed New Roots off Main St in the Heights and some compelling reviews here on Yelp. So a quick email was returned and consultation set up. About 4 weeks later shazammmmm, an amazing upgrade to my backyard here in the 1st Ward. They listened closely to my wish list and worked within my budget and even made some other suggestions about drainage and built a masterpuece that fits me perfectly. Thank you New Roots!! read more

Prompt response, however they don't provide the type of service I was looking for. Maybe in the future with another property.

Service that puts you at ease, there's is ample parking, and super con isn't off North. Main. A first choice in are that has several nurseries read more

Thank you Gabriella for your beautiful design for my back patio area and to Jim for leveling and making the drainage problem perfect. New Roots Landscaping can turn a super small area into a beautiful retreat. I am so happy with their design and workmanship. It is a organic space now complete with a beautiful fountain and the sound of calming water. They could not have done a better job. I highly recommend this company. They came to my house and looked at the space and came up with the perfect design. The project was pretty much complete in just a few days. The plants Gabriella chose were full and perfect for the space and the first day it looked like it had been there for a long time. The flagstone was hand cut to perfection to fit the small space and it looks twice a big as it is. read more

Knowledgeable, caring and helpful. Small or large needs work here. I always have so much fun seeing what they have on hand!

Great local company. I had them completely landscape and grade my back and front yard. Jim coordinated with Ornelas Sprinklers for fixing the drainage and installing the sprinklers. Jim and his folks did a great job! Update. Post Hurricane our yard came through with flying colors. All the new drainage and grading I have no doubt saved our yard! read more

A small independent nursery. I never know what I'll find, but I always manage to find a plant or 5 that I never knew I needed. Today I found loads of pipevine plants - watsonii, fimbriata and calico. So excited for spring and the butterflies it will bring! read more

The owner, Jim, came out to give me an estimate on my project less than 24 hours after I requested it, and the entire job was done within a week. I obtained many quotes but not only did New Roots beat them all in price, Jim's knowledge of plants and simple solution for my problems (including the use of some existing materials all other companies wanted to trash) was incredible! His recommendations were spot on and our problem yard is now a source of joy. We will definitely look to New Roots for any and all future projects! read more

I was not very satisfied with the customer service we received following a landscaping project at my house. I instructed new roots to remove any dead plants and gave them thoughts on what I wanted the yard to look like. This was following the random couple of freezes Houston received earlier this year. The plants they chose were fine, the design was nothing spectacular, but what really disappointed me was they left three clearly dead trees planted in my yard. When I requested that they come out and remove the trees free of charge (since that is precisely what I asked them to do - remove all dead plants), they refused. I told them I would purchase new trees from them if they came out and removed free of charge, again I was refused. These were not full from trees mind you, they were 3-4 saplings - fully within their ability to remove. I really wanted to like this company since it is so close to my house. I was reminded on this when I started looking for someone to come out and refresh the beds. The only person I would want to come back from New Roots is the irrigation guy. He did a great job. Otherwise, I feel like I overpaid and only received half a job. read more

Update- work done and very happy with the results. Update- the company is trying to make things right. Clearly shows the commitment will further update when the work is complete. Sometimes one employee can ruin the companies reputation but clearly in this case the owner is committed. Was bowled over by the reviews. The person showed up but never sent the quote, when I called back almost a month later- they said that it will take them 2 weeks to respond. Really!! read more

Great Heights Company. We had them redo the front yard and are very pleased with the estimate, design, work and final result, we would use them again read more

Great selection and pricing. (Note: We went here for the nursery and not landscaping services.) The woman who runs it is very helpful and friendly. Pricing is better than neighboring stores too! Definitely check out this hidden gem read more

Summary: They came out and met with us but never gave us a proposal despite my asking several time over several weeks, forcing us to start the entire process over nearly two months after my initial inquiry. Details: I contacted them in late March. They were swamped with other people who needed help thanks to the February freeze and said they would work me in when they could. They came out in mid-April to look at the backyard and discuss what we wanted. They were very nice, and I was looking forward to working with them but never received a proposal. I called in late April and then used the website request page to email an inquiry as to status. On May 3rd, Rachel texted to say she would talk to Jim, and I heard nothing more. On May 9th, I wrote that while I would be disappointed to start over I would prefer to know then that they would not be submitting a bid rather than wasting another week waiting to see if they would give me a proposal. No one bothered to text, email or call me back. So, having started the process in late March, I started the process of trying to find a landscaper over in late May! While I understand being swamped, it would have been much more professional to respond to say that they could not get me a bid for x months or whatever rather than just not respond and hoping I would give up. It is now the end of July, and I never heard from Natural Wonders after the initial visit to my yard. read more

I've been staying at home in this pandemic and have a nice patio that I couldn't really enjoy because the weeds and bushes had really over taken my outdoor living space next to my patio home. Thanks to New Roots, I have about 500 new square feet of beautiful outdoor living space. I've ordered all new patio furniture and a hot tub is on the way. New Roots showed extreme professionalism with a fair bid and a one day turnaround crew that turned my patio from shabby to chic! It's better than I was hoping! Absolutely wonderful job! So glad I chose them even though I'm not in their neighborhood. 10- stars but that's not an option. read more

New Roots Landscaping - Beautiful nursery with varied and healthy plants. - Landscaping Near Me - Houston, Texas

New Roots completely overhauled our front beds and gave our home the curb appeal it deserves. It looks fantastic! Jim was easy to work with and designed a landscape with the variety and color we wanted. He kept his word on selecting plants that would thrive and still be low maintenance. The stones used for the border are gorgeous. Overall, we were more than satisfied with the work. From initial contact to completion took less than a month. They started and finished the job in one day, which was unbelievable. The price quoted was reasonable based on comparisons. BONUS - they use all organic materials and are a local (Houston Heights) business. read more

Took over a month to schedule a visit to evaluate our needs. When they finally did come out, they took over an hour and a half of my time discussing ideas, but then never followed up with the quote. Not impressed. read more

I cannot say enough good things about my experience with New Roots Landscaping. The entire staff is so knowledgeable and helpful. My husband and I opted to have our entire side yard (we live in a patio home) and front yard redesigned and replanted. Gabriella and Jim did a wonderful job designing and recommending the new look. We have terrific stone work paths and ledges, a refurbished metal fence, a beautiful fountain, and terrific plants that invite birds, butterflies and bees to our yard (which is what we requested). The workers were all on time and, if there was to be a delay, we were informed of that right away. The men who did the actual labor and planting were skilled and they cleaned up everything daily. Thank you New Roots!!! Shirley B. read more

We have a townhome with a very narrow distance between our building and the lot lines. I thought our job would be too small for a landscaping company but that was not the case with New Roots. I wanted a neighborhood company to perform the work and after reading about them on their website, I gave them a call. We scheduled for a Tuesday for Jim to visit and discuss plans. Jim showed up (masked) and was kind and professional. After listening to the 'asks' he produced an estimate on the spot. By Friday afternoon, the work was completed and I couldn't be more pleased! Not only did Jaime and his crew do a great job, but he stayed engaged during the work to ensure a shared vision. I am very pleased with the entire process. From speaking with Veronica in the office to getting a quick, free estimate with Jim, to Jaime and his crew doing the work, I couldn't have asked for anything else. read more

Jim and his crew transformed our backyard into a welcoming, peaceful oasis! A beautiful flagstone patio and lush landscaping made for the shade. A fence I thought was past its prime was power-washed and stained - what a difference. Overall high quality workmanship. They work very fast and use organic materials for happy soil. The onsite antique shop is cute for browsing a little something extra. read more

I needed a parking spot widened and more black star and rainbow gravel brought in, also had it edged with stone. They also used some of my flagstone I had lying around and put it down the side of my driveway, also filled in with black star. New Roots and their crew could not of done a better job. Perfect. Posting to share that I had a terrific experience with New Roots Landscaping. Jim (owner) was very personable and attentive to what I was looking for in a complete overhaul of my courtyard area. Seeing everything grow and bloom has increased my satisfaction with how it all turned out. Thanks, New Roots! read more

I had a small backyard in the Heights and the builder was suppose to install new sod and it never happened. I hired Jim and his team to make my small yard a liveable space for me and my dog. What his team created was better than I could have imagined, and after dealing with subpar contractors with the builder Jim's team was so professional, made sure I was happy at every turn and did the job RIGHT the first time - . I could not reccomend them enough and I will be sure to bring his team back in as my needs change. Thanks again! read more

looking for unusual plants for my garden they are mainly doing landscaping, but have some lovely plants for sale to the public & at a great price couldn't be friendlier I'd have given them 5 stars & may well upgrade them, but on this first visit, they still are somewhat lacking in stuff a 5 star shop should have in stock I give the plants I got from them 5 stars & much friendlier staff than bigger garden stores the owner has a cat read more

Jim Ruzicka of New Roots Landscaping made the backyard in my town home an serene escape in this fast-paced city. He and his team were able to transform a tiny plot plain grass behind my town home into a retreat by landscaping in a minimal, but beautiful way. They also constructed a pergola and planted climbing vines that will eventually enhance the look of my space even more. Prior to selecting New Roots, I conducted price comparisons. In my case, I was quoted costs for building a pergola by another builder. It turns out that Jim and New Roots were able to not only build my pergola, but also landscaped the entire yard for the same price the other builder would have charged me for the pergola alone. I'm very happy with the outcome and I really appreciate the fact that I feel like I can call Jim in the future for any additional landscaping needs. read more

I don't like to write negative reviews, but I wanted to note here that after a thorough, friendly consultation, they never got back to us with a quote. We've been waiting six weeks. New Roots has been doing our landscaping for several years; after this years freeze the front yard looked terrible and they were ready to schedule a major clean up and mulching.
