This is their first restaurant in the UK, with many in parts of the middle east and Sweden they are set to open up in London too. The restaurant does have seating, but not much, so you're better off taking away, I walked from the JQ to pick up one and back and it was still warm and worth the wait (It was torture to not be able to eat it though). Now, you need to get the british idea of a greasy doner kebab out of your head as this is NOT one of the. You can be stone cold sober to enjoy these as there is little grease and lots of flavour. In fact, each doner kebab sandwich has just 344 calories, yep that's all! This is because the meat is good quality and not full of fat to bulk it up. You can have it as a meal with chips and a drink and the kebab can come with salad, sauces and cheese and it can be veal, chicken or mixed. Definitely give this a try as an alternative to your usual fast food that's also healthy!

I've always been suspicious of the 'elephants foot' aka the doner kebab you see rotating in chippies and cheap pizza joints. However, I was told that this isn't your typical kebab house. There's no miscellaneous 'doner' meat here, but a choice between beef or chicken. Not greasy and salad that wasn't slimy, my mind was blown. The quality of the food here was actually good! A little more expensive than your usual kebab joints, a meal including a drink costs around £7. There is extra seating upstairs and even a toilet! Here you're definitely paying for better quality food which in turn a better level of clientele (cough cough - Big Johns). Worth a visit if you like decent Kebabs that's don't make you feel like death the next morning and a great addition to the city centre.!

And Shahi Nan Kebab is the place to go. Not only do they give free poppadoms upon arrival, with a good helping of their unique chilli sauce... Ah, their chilli sauce. I could write lines and lines about the crunchiness of the fresh onions and the tangy yet spicy flavour of it, honestly, a work of genius. What was I talking about again? Oh yes, food, my favourite subject. Moving swiftly on, we went for a portion of seekh kebabs, fries , mutton tikka and their infamous, atleast in my eyes, haleem. Their kebabs and mutton tikka are both delightful and great for all those fellow meat eaters out there. But the haleem is to die for. Served with fresh chillis, ginger root and fried onions garnished on the top, it's the right balance of spice and bursts with flavour. If you're going to pay a visit to Shahi Nan, then I absolutely recommend this dish. Overall, a great place and it never fails to disappoint.

The food in this place is absolutely delicious and the fact it's a really friendly establishment where you can seat, enjoy your meal and also have a good chit chat with the staff, is just a bonus. One of my favourites (there are a lot of those too) is Mambo's Fast Food on Hurst Street, which strives to be better than your average kebab house. I have to say that I think they are doing a great job and hitting all of their targets. You can pick up a Donner Kebab alongside salad and of course chips, all for under a fiver, in fact it is priced at a surprisingly good three pounds ninety. I say surprisingly good because the quality of food here would lead you to believe that it was pricey, clearly this is not the case. Worth a special mention is the salad, as strange as that may sound when discussing a kebab house. This is because it is a lot fresher, crisper and generally tastier than your average kebab house salad. So if you fancy a kebab which is a cut above, then Mambo's is where you should take your business.

This is what you call authentic Afghan food. Beautiful tasty food with authentic touch of cooking…read moreskills. Had a chance to visit this place with family. Amazing traditional decoration. Parking space is available on the street, as it is on the main coventry road, near the small heath park. Reception welcome is good by the owner himself, Who also comes to the table for taking orders, and recommending speciality of the restaurant. Farsi speaking families can speak in Farsi (Persian language) or Pakhtoon language and also can speak in Urdu and english ofcourse. The waiter staff can be improved a bit, they seem less interactive with the customers. Order takes a bit time as the food is freshly prepared on order. The place has raised stage like area for traditional floor seatings or table seats for people who feel uncomfortable sitting on the floor. One thing I would say is, expect a lot of food smell to seep into your clothes, and you will stink of the food for few days, as it gets very smokey inside the restaurant. Apart from the above, no other food in Birmingham can touch the authentic food they serve at this place. Pure food as it meant to be from the heart of Afghanistan and North Pakistan, Beautiful taste. We ordered, Lamb Karahi, Chicken Karachi, Mixed grill kebabs and tikka and the big iconic Naan breads from Afghanistan, When I say Karahi, I mean Karahi as these are original karahi's not like they serve in Kashmiri restaurant where they don't even know what Karahi means. You get meat prepared by the kilos at this place. Yummy My recommendation if %100 for everyone to try the authentic afghani food as it meant to be. You will surely end up licking your fingers to get the last bit of taste out of the food. After the food, you should always try their traditional Tea, made with Cardamon seeds and lemon, very good to digest the food. I will surely be visiting this place again and again and would recommend to all. Enjoy the traditional of Pakhtoon cuisine.

After looking for an Afghan restaurant. We found this charming restaurant. About the food.. It serves good, tasty quality food! So if you're looking for traditional Afghan food, this is the place to be! We had some kebab, rice, chaapli kebab, fries and drinks. I definitely recommend the Special Charsi Lamb Tikka! The chaapli kebab was abit too spicy for me, but the flavours were good. The waiters were definitely kind and very helpful at all times! A minor is the menu. Before we planned on going to the restaurant, we searched some information about the restaurant. Because we only wanted to eat traditional Afghan food, but the menu that I came across on their website wasn't the same menu than the one they gave us! The differences were the prices and some dishes. Despite of those differences, really loved the restaurant and the food!

Fortunately, Kebab Land is always on hand to sort me out. If you turn left onto Dawlish Road having left the Bristol Road, you can't miss the bright green exterior. Compared to the silent vigil of the staff at Big John's and Adam's Place, the staff are always talkative and genuinely friendly. I genuinely feel that I WILL have a good night after I have received their blessing as I saunter off back home. Prices are as competitive and as cheap as everywhere else on the strip, but Kebab Land's advantage is the quality of its food:The majority of people I know are always put off by the idea of a kebab and feel that it may contain mystery meat or that it just "looks dirty", but Kebab Land seems to defy all these naysayers. Indeed, post-kebab shame is a common feeling following a gorging of my own, but Kebab Land's delicious food combined with relatively little grease removes (or at least minimises) the takeaway regret entirely. Compared to other eateries, where chips can be a bit hit and miss, Kebab Land's fries are always hot and are delicious. They're always more than happy to give you a generous serving of sauce with your meal, too. Can't be bothered to stagger down the road? Just give them a call and get a little piece of heaven delivered to your door.

However, if you are in the mood for some fast food but would like to go a little up market then Kebab Land is maybe your best bet when in Selly Oak. It serves the usual favourites but with less grease and a bit more attention to culinary excellence, plus a few health orientated options such as wraps. The pay off of this is that you have to pay a bit more and maybe wait a little longer, though this last one isn't really much of a problem as Kebab Land is a nice clean place with a good atmosphere. In conclusion, Kebab Land is probably the best place in Selly Oak to buy a kebab. The little extra you pay there is definitely worth it for the jump in quality.

This pocket-sized takeaway is located opposite the back entrance to New Street Station. With meal deals covering your meat, potato and pop needs the only thing you'll require is 10 minutes to wait for your food - you'd rather have a freshly cooked burger wouldn't you? I have to admit I've only been here in a 'merry' capacity, shall we say, and I've never gone in alone. Though the guys working here are friendly enough the word grease comes to mind - and not of the burger variety. I've seen the flirting and ogling of girls get a bit too sleazy at times. This aside, the food is tasty and well-cooked. The mix and match menu has everything fast foody you can think of on offer, plus more! On Fridays and Saturdays they are open until 4am so if you do miss the last train and end up having a few more pints bear this place in mind. Anything with chips to end your night can't be bad.

It normally comes full of salad with the chicken being freshly carved in front of you. However, I was really disappointed by this one as the chicken was taken out of a pot which was stored in the front heater (where they keep the battered sausages). The chicken didn't taste fresh nor was there much of it. I think it's safe to say that the chips had sat there for a long time too as they tasted soggy and pretty rank. Surprisingly, I didn't finish my food and ended up chucking it in a bin on the way home. Not impressed
