I rarely do reviews but I was stunned when I came across the John Pars one…read more I've been to Pasha's five times with different people. The last two times as birthday celebratory meals. The service has been excellent and so has been the food. In the sharing meals, there is such a good amount of lovely fresh food, I always have to take away because I can't eat it all. I do have to wait for a little while for the main dishes but its because the food is being cooked (not warmed up from the freezer/fridge) but you do get fresh bread and a nice dish in the meantime. Anyone who has been to a wide spectrum of different types of restaurants, including the michelin star rated ones, will undoubtedly be impressed with the quality of food in this little restaurant. It is not expensive, in my opinion and experience. In the 'significantly' more expensive restaurants in the city centre and other places you also wait for the food to be prepared. I am very pernickerty about cleanliness and the tables, cutlery, glasses and dishes were clean. The staff are great, attentive and very welcoming. I will be going again for another birthday treat with a group of women and I know they will all, like my previous guests, will have a great time. Definitely in my top five favourite restaurants in the UK. Yvonne M

Jewellery Quarter, Historical Quarter - Jewellery Quarter

Lalehzar is one of the hidden 'gems' in the Jewellery Quarter! A family-run Persian restaurant…read morelocated on Great Hampton Street, directly opposite the College of Law. The interior is quite basic, but very bright and clean - yellow walls, white ceramic tiles, traditional Persian music playing in the background. The food is delicious and extremely cheap - I really do not know how they make money? When I was here with a friend on Friday night, there were only one other couple in the restaurant and a few people coming in for takeaways. The menu consists mainly of lamb dishes, with some chicken and a very limited number of vegetarian options - still, just about enough to get by! The portions of both the starters and the mains were very generous - so much so, I could not finish the mains! After this, they offer complimentary tea and dessert! We accepted the offer of dessert and were presented with a platter of freshly sliced fruit and another plate with some Turkish pastries on it (Baklava) - completely on the house! The drawbacks with Lalehzar are the service, which can be slow - DO NOT go here if you are in a hurry and the fact that they do not serve or allow you to bring alcohol into the restaurant (apparently they have had bad experiences with rowdy diners). Still, these drawbacks aside, I thoroughly recommend this lovely restaurant to anyone and hope that it will stay around for a very long time!

I love this place! It is a great find and I thoroughly recommend it to friends. Great to find…read moresomewhere off the beaten track which does tasty interesting food. There usually seems to be (whom I presumed were) Persian families the times I have visited. The menu is basic but it's the usual grilled chicken or lamb that usually takes my fancy. They come with salad and rice. They don't have license and it's not a bring your own so not good if you like to drink. Also if you are seeking somewhere bit fancy, this is not for you. I agree with the other reviewer that if you are in a rush don't bother going. I liked it though and only surprised it isn't busier considering how good the food is. Lovely how they look after you with the complimentary fruit platter and Turkish sweets. Very good value

After seeing long queue at Nandos we decided to have quick food at this persian restaurant next to…read moreNandos. It was quieter compared to Nandos... very very quiet, as there was only 4 customers having their dinner on one table only. So we took a chance and went in to try out this place before the movie. Parking is not a problem , there are place parkings pots on the streets and the big car park next door. Customer service I cannot really comment on that as there was no customers to see how they perform in pressure. So as we were the only second customers at the restaurant, we were nicely welcomed and offered any table to choose from, we decided to sit next to the window in the corner. Quickly decided our food and one quick starter dish. The starter arrived within 5 minutes of ordering our food, the waiter left the plate on the table and said enjoy and left. Now I was a bit curious at this stage as to how are we suppose to eat this dish, Mutabal I believe it was, there was no bread, or crackers or something to use that dip as a DIP. So curiously I enquired from the waiter and then he revealed that we suppose to eat it like that as it is, with the spoons Maybe, he said, "this is how we persians eat", he said. After listening to his justification I was just praying and hoping that the main dishes will be not a disappointment. Lamb shank with Herb rice and Lamb steak with saffron rice was delicious for me to try it first time. I cannot say anything about its authenticity as it was my first every try of persian version of these dishes. For me these two dishes was delicious or maybe because we were very very hungry as well. We enjoyed the main dishes, that we cleaned the plates quickly. The bill was double the price of what it would have costed at Nando's so a bit disappointed on the pricing, but what can say, they are sitting in the main busy central point to do business. Overall experience is not VERY VERY good, its okay for first time try, I would not go back here knowing the prices are a bit too much for my liking. And I would not recommend a friend about this place unless they accidentely went in to have quick bite only.
