My sister in law was a resident of Hope Creek from Oct 17 2022 until she passed away Jan 12, 2025…read more My husband, age 84, visited her very often. He thought she was taken care of. For a while she was taken care of but over the years things changed. Charlotte would be out in the hall by the dining room away from her wing. She developed dementia. She was neglected and her needs were not met. Complaints were blown off. Dec 24 2024 we visited at 3:30 pm. She was in bed and unresponsive. We got the nurse. The nurse did not even check her; she just proudly said that she had her up in a wheel chair from 6am until she was brought back from the Christmas party at 3 for disturbing the party yelling for help. She said Char was a fall risk and she had to stay up. My husband visited at noon Christmas day. He helped her with her dinner. She asked to go back to her room to lay down. He was told he couldn't take her to her room that she had to stay up because she was a fall risk. She kept yelling to go to her room. They put her in a recliner and he just wheeled her to her room. She is fall risk so they punished her by making her stay up in a wheel chair for hours. No one changed her or gave her a drink. Jan 3, 2025 Charlotte was sent to the emergency room with breathing difficulties. The ER nurse called us to find out who was responsible for Charlottes care that she was severely dehydrated, mal nourished, weighed 80 pounds and was unresponsive except to say help. . The ER doctor called and he was angry about Charlottes condition. er further testing he found that Char had a blood clot in her lung, several blood clots in her legs and a huge open bed sore. She The doctor said she would not survive surgery and it would be best to place her in hospice care so that she received pain medication, was comfortable and taken care of. We asked to send her to another facility and this was not possible. Jan 6th, she returned to Hope Creek in Heartland Hospice Care. Heartland sent a patient care person who bathed, changed, dressed and combed her hair every day. The Hospice nurse visited every day and was on call. Hope Creek nursing staff did as little as possible to care for her. The neglect by Hope Creek continued. Jan 7th, Hospice called to tells us her condition was deteriorating. We called my brother in law,85, to meet us at Hope Creek. When I got arrived there was no chair by her bed. I had to go from wing 4th all the way to the reception desk and talk to three people to have someone get us chairs. The four of us stayed for over 4.5 hours. NOT one Hope Creek employee came in the check on her. At 5pm they came and repositioned her and did not check to see if she needed changing. We called twice in the evening to check on her and the phone was transferred to the wing and NO ONE answered. Jan 8, she was in pain when I arrived. I asked her nurse when she had pain medication last. Her nurse did not know but would check when she got around to it. I called Heartland. When I returned to the wing the hospice nurse was talking to her nurse. I asked about the pain medication and she said she had given it about 10 minutes prior. That it was ordered only as necessary. Her explanation of how to tell if she was in pain included asking for help. I asked how they knew if the never went in her room. She said she could hear her all the way down the hall. The nurse could not have been in her room. She could not yell. You had to be withing 5 feet to hear her. She was placed in a recliner in the hall while an air mattress was put in place. I could see her toes. The nails were yellow and green and the big toe nails were loose and detached at the cuticle. I took pictures. Why did no one have this taken care of. Every time we were there she had shoes on. I asked about the bed sore on and was told it was an end of life sore that just pops up. Not true! Every complaint was blown off. We were even told that the administrator did not work out of Hope Creek. We were always referred to Amber Hart who is useless. Evening calls to check on her were not answered after 20 minutes. We called the Hospice nurse and and after two calls and 45 minutes got a nurse who said she was sleeping. Jan 9, I0 we visited two times a day for over 2 hours. Finally we got the pain med ordered to be given every 2 hours. Jan 11th I was there over 6 hours. Same situation. I always stayed to make sure she was really asleep and peaceful before I would leave. We attended every care plan meeting and we voiced our concerns. She was never wearing her own clothes except for her shoes. Complaints about missing items were answered with we have no way to know who did it. We asked to put a camera in her room and it was not allowed. They accepted no accountability for anything. I tried to get a picture of the bed sore but the nurse would not let me. I would never put a helpless patient there. No rating low enough.

It is not a place I would leave my love one in for the end of life care. Unless the management…read morechanges, the cooking staff, head of nursing, and the building gets upgraded. The only thing going for it is therapy department. But the cna's and the nurse are very good.

I trained 1.50 since being hired, today is 7/3/2023. I was also told I would be working at a specific house. I learned by the schedule I was being put at random houses. I spoke with Beth regarding the different houses and her response was " I'm sorry I should of asked you first " I Told them it wasn't gonna work for me, I called today 7/3/2023 to verify my hours on my check and was gonna inform them they could mail me my check. I learned from Amy that I was not getting paid for orientation and was also not being paid for the 8 hours online training. I double checked in orientation with Anna that I was getting paid to do the 8 hours online training at home and she said " yes ". When I told Amy today that's what Anna told me in orientation her response of hostility was " SHE DIDNT SAY THAT " which Amy was not in orientation with me and Anna. When I went on 6/24/2023 to train in a clients home she was expressing this company can not keep staff, and that the lady who was there, needed a room or to move in because she was the only one who was consistent. That is not the kind of company I want to represent or to work for. The Managers Beth and Amy have very poor attitudes, almost as if your wasting their time, I don't recommend them taking care of your loved one, they are very short tempered and have very poor attitudes. I am in contact with the labor board, as well as the better business bureau. Nobody should have to do orientation or do any kind of training with out being paid!

Jeanie Crowe was our client care coordinator and I couldn't have asked for a better person to work with throughout the decision process and the transition to in-home care for mom. Jeanie was professional, thoughtful, patient, compassionate, available and always ready to find a way! Her passion and dedication to providing care was a comfort to our family and I must commend her. Your office staff: Shelley; Amanda; Chris and Debbie helped me with so many things - always with courtesy, concern, and compassion. And your care staff - what can I say?! Denise and Angie were remarkable with mom. Their dedication and caring went well above and beyond the call of duty and was very much appreciated by mom and by us. The comfort we derived knowing that mom was well cared for is priceless. The quality of your entire team is top-notch - I cannot speak highly enough of everyone with whom I've had the opportunity to interact. I have and will continue to recommend the use of Home Instead to my friends/colleagues nationwide. Thank you, thank you, thank you - to all - you provide such loving and professional care to people in need. Sincerely, Lynn L. Daughter

They said they would only clean the areas that he used, which was basically his bed. This is not helpful to the family at all. Their contract said they did light housecleaning, including cleaning the kitchen, bathrooms, etc. But they refused. A huge turnover and several completely clueless caregivers showed up and were not qualified in any way to care for a sick person. Last BUT NOT LEAST, an employee ransacked my mother's jewelry drawer the one time we trusted someone alone with my father. Do not use this company.
