Mardi Gras at New Orleans Square
    Travis T.

New Orleans Square is one of my favorite lands at Disneyland. I have spent time in the French Quarter and love how much this little corner resembles it. New Orleans Square was built in the 1960's and resembles 19th-century New Orleans. The Pirates of the Caribbean ride and the Haunted Mansion were a couple of favorite rides of mine when I was growing up coming to Disneyland (they still are). Now that I am an adult, I mostly enjoy coming here to eat. I have made reservations at Blue Bayou Restaurant and Café Orleans in the past and have enjoyed a nice dinner at both. I also used to grab a bread bowl of clam chowder at Royal Street Veranda before they revamped their menu. One of my favorite snacks are the Mickey-shaped beignets at the Mint Julep Bar. A bag of these are the perfect snack when walking around the park. They also sell non-alcoholic Mint Juleps. Tiana's Palace is the newest place to eat and serves Cajun-style cuisine. It replaces the old French Market Restaurant that once was here. On occasions, you can catch a jazz band walking around playing music outside of the restaurants like they do on Frenchmen Street in New Orleans. New Orleans Square was once home to the now closed Disneyland Dream Suite. Club 33 is a private dining club above the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. The Disneyland Railroad has a station at New Orleans Square if you want to ride to another part of the park. For entertainment, the late night show Fantasmic! takes place in front of New Orleans Square in the Rivers of America. New Orleans Square is the place to come to if you want to shop for pirate-themed merchandise or anything from the "Nightmare Before Christmas" movie.

This fun area located inside Disneyland is inspired by 19th Century New Orleans! Though I haven't been to New Orleans since I was 13, I remember it well, nice to get a fresh beignet and explore the art and shops! Let's dive into some of the must see spots in this themed area! Pirates of the Caribbean was my favorite ride during our family trip to Disneyland! Always nice to see Captain Jack Sparrow character as well! Did you know the Pirates of the Caribbean movies were actually inspired by this ride!? I personally am a huge fan of the films and frequently quote them! Lol our 8 year old loves this ride and thought the skeleton pirates were drinking bottles of poison! Our 8 month old on the other hand got 2 surprise splashes in the complete dark which scared her. The Haunted Mansion is definitely a fun/spooky classic ride which inspired the amazing movie with Eddy Murphy! They made a live action as well and Disneyland has a fun themed shop! Sadly we missed this ride during our trip since the waiting time was too long! Tiana's Palace is inspired by Princess Tiana's restaurant known for its homemade gumbo and man-catching beignets from the movie Princess and the Frog. We love the movie, our eldest included! So we were excited she wanted to have her 8th birthday dinner here! We ordered the 7 Greens Gumbo with Chicken & Andouille Sausage, House Gumbo, Buttermilk Cornbread, Fountain Drinks, Kid's Baked Macaroni and Cheese and House-filled Beignet. Definitely a 5 Star worthy meal with a great outdoor seating area and fair prices! We would definitely return to explore more, it would be fun to go for Mardi Gras one year! Happy Valentine's Day, don't forget to plan something fun with your sweetheart! SYOY! :-)

To me, this is one of the best areas of the park. The train station is so cool here, the Haunted Mansion is a well known attraction that demonstrates some gorgeous architecture and this is on display all through this area of the park. The food here is delicious and there are also some cool places "hidden" in plain sight in this area. Do you know about Club 33? What about another cool, hidden place here? Keep your eyes peeled! Pirates of the Caribbean runs along the backside of the area as the ride takes guests down under the park where "Dead Men Tell No Tales!" I always enjoy the dining area in New Orleans square that overlooks the Pirates ride. This is just one of the many areas of fun - wide open surprises that guests can immerse themselves for fun and also for pure, relaxing enjoyment that doesn't happen anywhere else besides, "The Happiest Place on Earth!"

One of my favorite "hubs" in dizzy land. Close proximity to so many cool rides. Food options are plentiful. Easy spot to grab the train to transfer to another magic kingdom location.

New Orleans Square at Disneyland. This land is tons of fun! And one of my favorite rides is here, the Haunted Mansion. I also love Pirates of the Caribbean. So fun and good for all ages! Two of my favorite rides in one land lol They have some great food options here as well! I like the Blue Bayou if you aren't on a budget lol Mint Julep Bar is nice for a quick beignet and refreshing drink! There's also French Market Restaurant and The Harbor Galley. Royal Street Veranda has lots of shopping options! Jewelry, crystals, perfume and so much more! What's not to like about New Orleans Square?!

Welcome to the new restaurant "Tiana's palace" set to open here in Sept. Formerly the French market it is being rethemed to Tiana and her recipes. Tiana has more than that going on with a gift shop in the square in her honor along with a major ride being redesigned for late next year called Tiana's bayou adventure. New Orleans square is a jazzy New Orleans themed area complete with cajun restaurants such as Blue Bayou-(reviewed separately) and Cafe Orleans. The Disneyland RR makes a stop here. Currently the two most popular attractions are Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion-(both reviewed separately). You'll also find a crystal shop here run by Arribas brothers-similar shop on Main St (reviewed separately) and a perfume shop specializing in Guerlain fragrances. Street entertainment is enjoyable as the folks are dressed up as Pirates and sing various pirate songs. Check out the exclusive Club 33 entrance next to Blue Bayou-That's a very posh and high end club where a person can join by invite only. It's great having the Dixieland feel to the area. Tiana's bayou adventure is being created where Splash mountain stood in Critter country. That attraction once opened i feel would be more suitable here. It's truly a nice area to visit when seeing Disneyland.

My FAV "land" in all of Disneyland. So far the closest I can get to the actual NOLA (yeah sad I know), but every time I go to the parks this is the place I can NOT wait to go to. New Orleans Square is home of: -One of the stops of the Disneyland Railroad -The Haunted Mansion -Pirates of the Caribbean -Cafe Orleans -Blue Bayou -French Market Restaurant -Mint Julep Bar -Club 33 -Royal Street Veranda -The Harbor Galley -21 Royal There's also a bunch of neat little shops in a small alleyway turnaround with merchandise from themed from the Haunted Mansion, Nightmare Before Christmas, Pirates, etc, a perfume shop, a neat crystal/jewelry shop, etc. I'd like to argue that New Orleans Square has the BEST food in the entire park. Every time I go here I ALWAYS turbo mobile order a Mint Julep and some beignets at the Mint Julep Bar. I make sure to savor the Mint Julep by pouring the rest into a flask or empty bottle that I bring with me. I'm not the biggest fan of Cafe Orleans, but I do love the unlimited Mint Julep refills (my record was 6 in one day, yeah I got super sick, don't do this kids). I haven't been to Blue Bayou yet, but I'd love to get on the reservation list! As for Club 33, it's always neat seeing the exclusive members come out with their neat bags. The BEST seasonal churros are in this part of the park, aka the Bride Churro with vanilla powder and I love the Harbor Galley (lobster mac n cheese sourdough bowls and the Cajun seafood boil, which I've nonchalantly eaten while wandering the parks). The best for seasonal Halloween and Xmas foods! New Orleans Square has 2 of my fav rides, Pirates and the Haunted Mansion with the latter getting the Nightmare Before Christmas makeover for around 1/4 of the year. Just be wary that Pirates does pause and break down very often and Haunted Mansion gets really crowded, especially during the holiday season. They're also decorating this land for Xmas with the Mardi Gras themed lights, garlands, wreaths, and ornaments. Definitely stop by and enjoy a mint julep !

9-30-21 Absolutely LOVE this section of the Magic Kingdom! Let me count the ways: 1. Main Street train stops right here, super convenient. 2. Haunted Mansion is a few feet away. 3. We always dine at Blue Bayou for lunch or dinner. Darkened atmosphere, pretty lights overhead, they serve Jambalaya, real spicy! 4. Pirates of the Caribbean is here. Must have been on that ride over 30 times cuz my grandpa brought us every year since I was in 3 rd grade. Jack Sparrow looks real, not plasticy. 5. You can get beignets almost as good as the real thing at the French quarter in Louisiana. 6. Virgin Mint juleps are easy to come by and very refreshing like an Arnold Palmer with fresh mint. 7. There are restrooms close by. 8. We discovered pretty River Belle Terrace for lunch this trip. I liked the interior like a southern grandma's parlor with white curtains and pink roses everywhere. 9. When they have fireworks or Fantasmic light show in the water it's a good place to come squat( like Pretty Woman said)or criss-cross apple sauce on the ground in the evening air. 10. If you haven't come, come see for yourself if you enjoy this place as much as we do.

The square has some of the yummiest treats in the park along with fantastic music. We love the doughnuts, mint juleps, and lobster rolls!

This is a project in which elementary, middle, and high school choirs and bands performed at Valencia High School in the city of Placentia, CA, in the morning, and were then invited to visit Knott's Berry Farm for fun and the award ceremony in the late afternoon. We were thrilled that both our Bishop Amat Choir and Bands took home four first-place trophies across four categories. Back to Knott's Berry Farm, this amusement park is so much fun. It is a large property, and there is so much to see, do, and enjoy a great, memorable time. On this day, when we visited the park, it was a bit crowded (but fun nonetheless) as numerous school-aged choirs and bands were there, and it was also opening day for Knotts' Soak City water park. Knotts had a promotion for ticket holders who visited both parks on the same day. The crowds were no problem whatsoever as we ALL managed to get on numerous rides, listen to music, eat ice cream, and have bartered fish tacos for dinner. The park is well-maintained, employees were all extremely friendly and helpful, and security can be seen throughout the park to ensure everyone's safety. My family and I chose to purchase standard annual passes, which were very affordable at $120.09 per pass. Interest-free monthly payments are a great option if you prefer not to pay for your season pass in one shot. Now that my family and I have annual passes with parking included, we will definitely visit often, if only to have lunch or dinner at the park.

Use a credit card to book your room, so you can use their quick check in line. Either way, make sure you take the exact card you use to book for checking in. Before you go, buy the discounted dining deal. You can only buy it in advance, and the food and drinks are pretty pricey, so you will spend $$$. I also suggest attaching your credit card to your wristband for convenience. We really enjoyed the pizza place onsite. We checked in on a Sunday and it was a bit crowded, but we managed to do it all in three hours. The kids loved the bunk bed, and my only complaint about our room is that the tub faucet leaked. The next day, we packed a bag with a change of clothes that we fit into a small locker for $12, and went back into the waterpark for a couple more hours. I recommend packing travel toiletries for a quick shower before leaving. They have plenty of showers, changing rooms, and a swimsuit dryer, but no toiletries in the waterpark bathrooms. Waterpark towels are provided and must be checked out and in or you'll be charged, so don't lose them. There's a water bottle refill station in the waterpark near the bathrooms. We didn't try many of the activities offered except for the arcade that offered packages starting at $35. Lastly, be sure to pay for parking before you leave. That was also $35. All in all, we got a deal on the room but spent more on food, drinks, games, and parking combined. My kids are 5 and 10, and they were able to go on just about everything that was open. One day was plenty of time if you don't plan on doing all of the activities.

The issue is not necessarily that every employee was rude -- the real problem is the completely broken system and lack of communication between departments. We booked THREE rooms for 18 guests for a birthday celebration and simply wanted to reserve and pay for a place where everyone could eat lunch together and celebrate with cake. Something that should have been straightforward became an exhausting process filled with confusion, conflicting information, and endless transfers between departments. The front desk had no idea about the policies of the events department. The front desk also had no clear understanding of pool policies. Every single question required someone to "leave a note" for another department and wait for an email response that never came. No callbacks. No follow-up. No accountability. The most frustrating part was trying to contact the front desk directly. First, you are forced through an AI system. Then you finally reach someone in the "reservation department," who is not even onsite. Despite politely asking multiple times to be transferred directly to the front desk, they refused and insisted they could help. They could not. Instead, they placed me on hold supposedly to ask the front desk themselves -- and after 11 minutes on hold, they never came back. At that point, yes, the reservation department representatives themselves became part of the problem: rude, dismissive, unprofessional, poorly trained, and completely incapable of resolving even simple questions. This company has far too many unnecessary departments that clearly do not communicate or work together. Planning an important family event here became stressful instead of enjoyable. I will never host another birthday event at Great Wolf Lodge again, and I would strongly caution families against wasting their time and money here for important celebrations.
