Two Covid-related issues shaped my impression of RAKS: * Overpriced, inflation-gauged plywood, definitely not their fault. * Literally no masking whatsoever, throughout the office, in mid-December 2021, at the height of the Delta variant and a state-wide mandate. I mean, they coulda at least attempted to post a sign on the door, or something. After you place your order you'll drive into the lumber yard and a forklift will arrive to load you up. The place felt very Unionized, a vibe I appreciate, so if you're a Union shop, RAKS, good on ya. I'm a sucker for supporting local alternatives to big box home improvement stores, but in this particular case, the big box right up the street -- Lowe's -- did a far more exemplary job of complying with a global health crisis than this particular alternative.

All of our windows and doors arrived on time and Rebecca was very reachable and responsive to our needs. We chose the Anderson 100 series because they look good and fit our budget. We ended up using black frames on the exterior and interior, and they look stunning. I would highly recommend Pinon, and would now not use anyone else.

I had cast iron sinks, faucets, mirrors, medicine cabinets. I told him I already checked the website and he ended up taking the items. I checked other reviews and mostly they're negative because they are overpriced. I wish there was a better local non-profit to donate to because the local Albuquerque one gives the Habitat for Humanity name a bad reputation.

The reason for only 4 stars is this: When we went to pick up the materials, she couldn't find our paperwork and our order was not ready. The owner was scrambling to get it all together claiming she had no idea we were coming that morning. There was wood that still needed cutting, so this delayed our project. It would have settled bettered with us had she owned the mistake. Things happen. Instead, she made us feel that it was our fault. Thankfully, we had an invoice with the pick up date and details. They could not find their copy.

And the reasons are the main factors we like for "contractors", licensed, insured, timely with all interactions and promises, communicative through the whole process. I attached photos but Tom's advice, experience and constant attention are very appreciated. His crew of Orlando, Zach and Robert were polite, constantly measuring and checking on quality. Really transformed our new back patio and torn down and replace the front porch which had a leak going back years. Tom brought in quality contractors for work Groff doesn't do themselves. Julian for demo, stucco and cement. I could tell Tom and Groff's reputation during inspections and coordinating with others really paid off. This is our 2nd big Groff project at two different homes in ~ 20 years and although we shopped this around, Groff clearly was the right choice!
