I've been sitting on this review and trying to figure out how to describe my experience with Austin. In a nutshell, indescribable would be easy to say, but also the immediate feeling right after the session. I can breathe a bit better if not easier, weight on my shoulders feels lighter. And overall feels like I am freed by the 'mental shackles' that has had its hold on me for a long time. Like a veil has been lifted and I am now more at peace with myself, zen like state which is something I thought I had but this is completely different. I was really going through a hard breakup and felt continuously anxious, worried, and depressed. I started to lose interest in the things I love doing such as dancing, hanging out with friends, adventuring, etc. My mental health was so bad, my focus at work was deteriorating and all I wanted to do is just sleep at home. So my best friend recommended Hawaii Counseling and Wellness Center because she was going through a lot of personal issues too. She recommended Coren Kajioka so I gave it a chance and called their office to schedule the appointment. The office is located on the 15th floor at room #1510 so then I arrived there, the receptionist were very friendly and welcoming, quiet atmosphere, and there is coffee and tea for you to enjoy. They accept HMSA, UHA, HMAA, and plans with "out of network". My experience here was very helpful and I felt that my issues were addressed and Kajioka gave me the proper steps to help better myself as a person. He made me feel that my feelings are valid and I feel very valued. With COVID having affected and changed so many lives in more ways than one since March 2020 (well…read moreover a year now as of this writing), psychologists and therapists have been in such high demand! I came across DalyBeth and Positive Health Hawaii after searching around for places that had openings and/or were accepting new patients, which as expected was super hard to come by and especially within a short time. Having been living alone and hardly able to see the closest friends for the last year now along with dealing with lots of tension within another organization that I'm working for on a part-time basis, I've been trying to seek help with my mental health and depression that has literally taken its toll on my life, I am very thankful for DalyBeth! She has been willing to listen to my situation and stories and has made plenty of helpful suggestions on helping myself relieve stress from my life. Now although I haven't gotten to some of them quite yet and admittedly may not be comfortable doing certain ones just yet, I've taken lots of notes and been trying to put her advice to great use. I'll definitely be consulting with DalyBeth periodically and again very soon, and hopefully I'll get to meet her in-person. She's sweet, not aggressive or blunt with her therapy. She's more like a mediator for us so we dont rip each other's head off. I would derfinitely recommend Hawaii Center for Psychology for your counseling and mental health needs. The staff is super friendly too. They remind us to do our copay before our session starts so its convenient. They call a day ahead to remind me about my appointments too. They've been extremely understanding when we show up late...lol. The only thing holding back the 1 star is the fact that we still have to go. Once our differences are settled to the point where we can handle on our own, then I'll give it to them. They also have a Keurig machine in the waiting room so you can make yourself a hot drink while you wait :)

(I swear I'm not crazy and Dr. Ozoa confirmed this!) Dr. Ozoa is very kind, patient and is a great listener. Her office is zen like and peaceful. She will give you tips on how to avoid bad experiences and choices in the future. She will take your side if you are right but also tell you if you are doing things wrong. If you've ever experienced a traumatizing situation or a rut in your life and you want to move ahead, Dr. Ozoa is perfect. I've only been to 3-4 sessions so far and I feel much better and she made me realize that my life is much easier and positive without negative toxic people. She also does marrriage/couples counseling as well. Parking is validated and she moved to the 16th floor. She also takes health insurance such as HMSA.
