It was our first time with an integrative veterinarian, and it was a wonderful holistic journey that helped us to think outside the box as far as health and happiness of our good boy. Dr. Mills is very generous with her time and explains things very thoroughly with lots of great suggestions for everything from weight loss to dog training. We were helped with understanding how to get our very strong personality boy to become the boy whom we love today. The team at the front of the office handles appointments, answers questions, and processes records and checkout with efficiency and kindness. This is the same for the back end of the pharmacy who fill prescriptions quickly and accurately or the technicians who take back one's furry loved one for blood tests, vaccines, or nail trims in a kind manner to avoid stress. Both pups and people alike are treated with respect and are allowed to be an active partner with this practice. Our boy developed idiopathic epilepsy prior to turning four which necessitated Dr. Mills to refer us to the neurologist Dr. Erik Johnson, co-founder of NeuroVet in Pleasant Hill, CA. We continued with Dr. Mills for all things unrelated to neurology and she remained interested in his seizure progress. Prior to moving to a new state, we had a battery of tests and vaccines to ensure that we had the best possible care before having to search for a new veterinarian in our area. Dr. Mills was able to help us out of a bind from afar that was very much appreciated and for which we are eternally grateful. We encourage others to consider Dr. Mills for your pets needs as she can manage any type of pet from a horse to a hamster. If you should require a neurologist, Dr. Johnson will likely be the great resource for you as he was for us.

I usually shop at the store in Pleasanton but decided to stop by the Livermore store on the way home from work. Wow! What a pleasant surprise. This store is really nice. Very clean and organized. I gotta say too that the policy restrictions on quantity volume purchases as are currently in-place and that were described to me are NOT customer-centric. If the amount if product is unavailable for that day's in-Store purchase in the requested pack size, the damn POLICY should include the Store Managers having the decision flexibility to be creative on how to still honor a "fourth bag free" if they do not have the four bags in stock. And this is not a one-off either... it happens probably 25% of the times that I go in and it gets frustrating indeed. The root problem is they keep precious little floor-stock inventory "on the floor" AND they are completely inflexible in finding a creative solution there in-store. This is a problem of their own making, clearly promulgated by Corporate Bean Counters ensconced in "just in-time" product delivery resulting in minimal inventory at store-level. So, this situation happened again yesterday where they only had one bag and I wanted to "buy three and get the fourth one free". Phil started out telling all the "corporate reasons" why he was unable to help me, that it is corporate policy dontcha know..? After some lively negotiating and conversation, Phil took it upon himself to find a way to make it work. And whilst it did require me to return to the store today, I am very pleased that Phil very kindly went to the Pleasanton store and brought the additional three bags so I could get this " fourth bag free". Thank you VERY MUCH, Phil! While I KNOW your Corporate policies suck, YOU yourself came up with a way to help me even though it also meant you had to make an extra stop on your way in to work today to help me get my "fourth bag free". Please accept my gratitude, Phil! And also PLEASE change these un-customer-centric policies. As a retail outlet, it seems to me your Corporate Overlords SHOULD BE making sure that business is done both for profit but also for the CONVENIENCE of your customer base. Hearing "It is our policy that...." and then being told how I cannot be assisted is VERY off-putting. Thank you again, Phil. You came through for me and I am super-appreciative, young man! Our local vets didn't think it was possible. More key points I learned: (6) 50-60°F Cold compresses for 2 minutes, then (5) 105°F hot for 2 minutes. Start with cold & end with cold. This gets the blood moving in & out of the area. Warmth is inflammatory, that's why you need to start & end with cold. I bought a bunch of microwavable heat/cold pads. I would put the hot pads in a pot of hot water while using the cold pads to heat them back up. Make sure the urine stays clean looking (bladder emptied 2 or 3 times a day & antibiotics if an infection develops), the skin & genitals get cleaned & dried well to or not get a skin infection. Females - don't cross-contaminate by bringing feces bacteria to the genitals. Infection = sepsis Products I found helpful: cat waterless shampoo, A+D diaper rash ointment & skin protectant (vet recommended because no toxic zinc in it) , & Honey Pot anti-itch wipes.

During our session, she told me that the moment she received my request, Charlotte came through to her and said she was ready to go. This was a great comfort to me. She said many other things that deeply comforted me and confirmed that Charlotte's spirit will never leave me. I am still very sad, but this session helped tremendously. Dr. Beth Lieblick assessed everything quickly and chose the least invasive option first. After anesthesia, she was able to push the blockage down into his stomach so he could digest it naturally instead of going straight to a major surgery. Our dog stayed overnight for monitoring and came home the next morning safe and stable. Communication was clear the entire time, and the team was professional, calm, and genuinely kind during a very stressful situation. * In terms of cost, this is emergency care, so it is expensive. The initial diagnostic alone was around 1300 dollars. With bloodwork, X rays, anesthesia, the procedure, overnight monitoring, and medications, the estimate initially went up to 14000 dollars. The final total ended up being about 6600 dollars after adjustments. Even knowing emergency care costs more, it is still a financial shock when you are facing a possible life threatening situation for a family member. * We are giving 4 stars. The doctor and team absolutely deserve recognition for their professionalism and friendliness. The only reason we are taking off one star is the price. While we understand emergency care is costly, the numbers can feel overwhelming. Our advice is to get pet insurance if possible. If a bill in the thousands or potentially over ten thousand would be difficult, it is worth researching emergency options ahead of time. For us, what mattered most is that our family member came home safe.

After running tests was told he…read moreshould stay overnight for observation/treatment and would need an ultrasound as the xray did not show anything conclusive. That night as I am checking out one of the staff members tells me they would have to call a specialist the next morning to do the ultrasound so after the procedure is done they would call me with an update. Agreeing with their recommendation I agreed to pay $6500 for the visit and the next day procedure. The assistant said with additional medication the cost could go to $8200 or higher depending on the finding. I should have asked for a list of procedures that were done and a breakdown of costs, but at that moment I was more concerned with the wellbeing of my family member. I called the next morning around 8am to check how my cat is doing. The person said the veterinarian is doing their rounds now so someone would call me back an hour or two later. I receive a phone call around noon and was told I would have to pay an additional $4500 for the ultrasound and with additional tests they recommended would in total be around $15,000. When questioned what was included in the $6500, I received a response of, "oh that was included." When asked why the ultrasound was not done yet, they said a specialist would need to be called as it was the weekend. When I told them that last night someone said that it would be done the next day, they said, "not sure why someone would say that?" I tell them that I want to pick up my cat to bring to another location. Upon arrival an assistant brings me my cat and promptly asks my to sign a waiver. When I asked who I spoke with over the phone that quoted me $4500 for the ultrasound, the assistant said the veterinarian. When I tell them to refund me the cost it suddenly became $1100. I told them if it was $1100 I wanted to go through with the ultrasound , BUT since I told them I wanted to go to another clinic, putting the iv in and what not back on him would cost more. At this point I feel like I am getting taken advantage of so I wound up leaving. Before I left I asked for a receipt showing what procedures were done to only get a email with a charge of $6500 minus the cost of ultrasound $1100. Bottom line this place seems more interested in taking your money than the health of your pet. I would highly recommend avoiding this clinic.

But I remember like it was yesterday, so here goes.... I had an elderly, very much loved, bearded dragon named Dino that I had close to 8 years. One day after coming home from work, I found him on the bottom of his tank with his head turned to the side. He was flopping around like crazy, looked like some type of drunken stupor. I had not had to take him to the vet before. I called around and found an emergency place in Dublin that said they would be willing to see him. I rushed him there. Although they were visually equipped for reptiles, they were clueless. Which I understand to a degree, reptiles aren't as easy. But their recommendation was he probably had metabolic bone disease (no, he didn't) and that since he was elderly, they spoke to me about euthanasia. I took him out of there and went home, completely disgusted. I left there crying and traumatized. And refunded lol. The next day, I did extensive research to find a good reptile vet and that's when I stumbled upon Ohana. I made an appointment and drove there from Concord and dropped my baby off. Within a short period of time I got a call from the doctor. He was extremely knowledgeable and compassionate. He explained to me that he believed Dino had a neurological disorder. I understood this meant no cure. What sold me on this doctor is when he told me he felt Dino had plenty of life left in him based on his alertness and responsiveness. He didn't recommend euthanizing him. We spoke about how his head tilt would just be our new norm, how this would be a disability for him but we could adapt to make him comfortable. He also was confident that Dino wasn't experiencing pain, rather just the surprise of having a sudden head tilt. Like people would feel if that same thing happened to us. I picked up my Dino and went home, so grateful for this experience. I removed all his branches and rocks due to a fall risk, and redid his tank to include a soft, cushy floor and some bright colored plants for visual enjoyment. Dino lived for almost 2 more years after that. We added so many more memories to the books thanks to the wonderful doctor at Ohana. Since then, I have another beardie and a blue iguana. This is the only place I will trust should they need very specialized care from an expert.
