Mikula was the largest company and I located them with a Google search. The other two contractors I found by word of mouth. Mikula's estimate was the most competitive and once they started the job they worked continuously to completion. They demolished a 4500 square-foot house with concrete basement, a four car garage with attached clubhouse and an in-ground reenforced concrete, swimming pool. The operators of the excavating equipment were highly skilled and easy to communicate with at all times. Scheduling was accomplished through office personnel who were very knowledgeable and responsive. There were no glitches in the entire operation--from estimating the job to obtaining permits to completion. In fact, the quality of the work was so impressive, I hired Mikula to build a rock wall around the perimeter of a pond on my property and install a French drain to divert surface water. This second job was completed in 2 1/2 days and the results were impressive. This is a company that has earned its reputation for excellence and the machine operators and laborers obviously take pride in their work. Plus, Mikula owns most of the equipment used on the job--excavators, dozers, skid steer machines dump trucks and trailers - -so the company is not dependent on others to get the job done. This company did an OUTSTANDING job, assessing and repairing my drainage needs. I had basement…read moreflooding after rains, due to the water level buildup around my house. Bill Jacobs did not try to "upsell me" over the phone, telling me possible solutions that were less complicated than I anticipated. He assessed the issue, evaluated the drainage piping issues and suggested least expensive solutions first, with further review once accessing the drain pipes. He communicated extremely well around appointment times, during the project, even showing pictures to explain how the progress was going. He made improvements over what the builder failed to do, burying gutter downspouts and connecting all drainpipes around the house. His crew unfortunately cut my underground electric dog fence, which was my fault as I forgot to indicate the lines. They told me what they had done and fixed it themselves the next day. After the job was completed, they cleaned up the site perfectly and threw down hay until grass regrows. Bob then took me around the house explaining all that he did, and answered all of my questions. Bob Jacobs is a man of his word, is honest, communicative and shows pride in his work. He correctly assessed what needed to be done, as the area flooded weeks later and my basement is dry!! They planted eight Thuja Green Giants, two Kwanzan cherry trees, two apple trees and cleared out an area on our lawn that was full of horse nettle, poison ivy and weeds. Chris asked me to check where the trees were placed on the property before they planted to make sure they were in the sections we chose. Professional. They're engaged (and maybe even a little excited to be there). They have ideas. They do more than just landscaping which I've found helpful. I do find they skew more expensive, but honestly that's been worth it for me thus far as my experience has been better than I've had elsewhere. So, I really like these guys. They're pros.
