Even without an appointment, the longest I've waited was half an hour, which is tolerable. The atmosphere is somewhat lively; people are bustling around, Vietnamese or Thai music is usually playing or they'll have a movie playing. I don't have a preferred stylist because they're all really nice and professional. They asked me what style I wanted after showing me a few Japanese catalogues and told me if it would work with my face shape. Everything from the shampooing to blow-drying was done with care. I also had my prom hair done by Cindy. It was a beautiful half-up sweep with a ton of braiding (I think she put around 50 bobby pins into my hair, haha) that lasted way beyond the prom night. It was total of $20. All in all, I highly recommend Mai Mai's. =)

My hair is very textured and I tend to keep it short. Past stylists have done cuts that require straightening or don't account for shrinking post-dry. I saw Mandy exclusively for three years and now that I've relocated I miss her every day. :'( If you've had problems in the past with someone not actually paying attention to your needs and your hair, I can confidently recommend Mandy and any of the other stylists at Chatters.

Got just a regular wash and cut - which turned out pretty good - but do be warned to ask for a…read moreprice breakdown beforehand. They only list a "base price" on the website which is just an apprentice price and it goes up and up from there. They also change your "hair length" (as they charge more for longer hair) if your appointment takes more than 45 minute. This is only actually your scheduled appointment time too, if the person before you took longer and you're seen later as a result of that also expect to be dinged with this fee. I would suggest to the business just to add a price breakdown on the website with the costs for cuts at each length with each level of hair stylist just to allow for customers to be more well informed before coming in and so that nothing is a surprise! Otherwise the staff is very nice, the vibe is that they all get along well and there's conversation all around. The stylist I had was Nina and she did a good job and was absolutely lovely!

Parking is usually a nightmare…read moreand limited at best, so when I decided to try Hair on Second, I was already a bit apprehensive. Laura (my stylist extraordinaire) assured me upon booking that it would be a breeze, and she was right. This location is super conveniently located next to a pay and display parking lot. The prices are totally reasonable, and they have short term (2 hour max) and long term (whole day) options available. What a relief! Leading up to my appointment I had been indecisive, to say the least. Laura was patient and helpful with helping me to decide on a look that was close to what I pictured, but also achievable in one shot (I tend to want really big changes that take many, many procedures, and Laura always manages to help me get as close as possible in one go so that I don't leave disappointed). The rest is pretty standard- I have dark hair and had booked in for highlights and color, so my visit was fairly lengthy. While I was there staff was polite and friendly, and it was very clear they have positive relationships with their clients. One of my friends came to meet me and was so impressed she herself is looking forward to her own visit in the near future. If you're looking for a good spot for a cut or colour, hit this place up. Ask for Laura. She is AMAZING.
