I'm deducting stars for some shadier billing practices. Examples: reception - I repeat RECEPTION - will have you pee in a cup before seeing your doctor, and without explanation. Apparently it is procedure to test ALL women for pregnancies, which sets the tone of how must they trust your knowledge about your own body, and how they will listen to you. To top it off, you will get billed for it. And in that vein of billing, they will bill you for time waiting to see your doctor, not just time with your doctor. I was moved from the first waiting room, to a second waiting room, where I was left sitting for over 30 minutes. That time was included in my final bill as time with my physician, which is no small fee. So prepare your wallet accordingly!

Karyn faithful showed up through my third trimester and beyond to offer great doula support. What was meant to be a stressful and overwhelming pregnancy became empowering and manageable. She held my hand when I needed, informed when I wasn't clear and advocated when I needed. My hospital birth experience with Karyn was great.We labored at home and went in right in time for baby to be delivered. I did the whole birth naturally. Which was part of my birth plan.She was warm and friendly to the staff and firm when she needed to be. My girl is now 7 months and I couldn't be any more proud of my doula. I recommend her to any African moms, single moms, high risk pregnancy or moms who seek specialist outside of prenatal appointments. I did not call your office to request any change, nor did I receive any confirmation email or phone call regarding this rescheduling. When I contacted your office to ask about this issue, I was told that the change was made at the patient's request, which is incorrect. I clearly stated that I did not request any change and asked how my appointment could be moved without my authorization or notification. Despite this, I was informed that nothing could be done, even though the mistake was not mine. I then politely requested that the staff check with the doctor to see if I could come at any time on my original appointment date, as I am flexible. I was told that the staff member would check with the doctor and call me back. Unfortunately, I never received a call. When I followed up later the same day, I was told that the staff member was still "in a meeting with the provider." When I called again several hours later, I was told to hold, and then informed that she "did not mean to call" me at all. This response was extremely dismissive and disrespectful. As of now, I am still waiting for a callback. The lack of communication, accountability, and basic courtesy from the front desk staff has been very disappointing. This situation reflects very poorly on your office's patient service standards. I hope this matter can be reviewed seriously and corrected as soon as possible. I would appreciate confirmation of my appointment status and an explanation of how this situation occurred.

I gave birth at north side hospital (which I love) Midwives are nice too I had the same midwife for both of my babies and she's amazing. Every time I called with a concern they were very helpful and I also like that they have on call nurses for after hours. they have a few locations if they can't see you here they can see you at another location. The only downside is sometimes they were so busy the whole visit lasted from 1 hour to 3 hours so that's something they should work on.

She helped me prepare. Her info packet was practical and asked concrete questions about pain, coping skills and post-partum issues. I felt comfortable taking her homeopathic recommendations and herbal infusions (yummy Nora tea!) Critically, she was always available for checking in. It was easy to talk with her and I sought her advice about an ongoing problem I experienced with a particular midwife. (Since she both volunteers and gives massages at ABC, she's well-known there and familiar with its routines/rhythms. This put me at ease because I was a new client.) Margaret's post-partum help with tricky nursing issues proved equally invaluable. Margaret's a skilled licensed massage therapist who specializes in Arvigo Maya abdominal work. I was bigger this time around so the last trimester was tough. Having weekly massages in my last month was such a treat. Her massages were restorative, relieved me of the constant pain and worked to center me. The birth of my 2nd son was highly unusual but through the expert knowledge and skills of Margaret and the rest of my birth team, I experienced a safe and empowered natural birth. My son was born at 10 lbs and face first, quite a rare and challenging presentation. His labor was long and slow (3 days). Once we learned his presentation, we required a transfer to the hospital. We all worked together as a team to make his birth go smoothly and safely. Throughout all of this Margaret remained calm, focused on my well-being, supportive of my decisions, patient, positive and helpful. I couldn't have had the beautiful birth that I did without the team that I had. Having Margaret as part of my birth team made for an overall positive pregnancy, birth and post-partum experience.
