I've been going there for years and have received consistently great dental care along with care choices based on my goals and financial picture and I've never experienced an upsell for unneeded dental work. This dental office requires patients to prepay for services. They require a $75 deposit for services outside a regular dental exam and cleaning. We have insurance so I'm not sure what they require for those without insurance. They always ask for payment at time of service as is their policy. My policy is to not pay a medical provider until insurance settles with an EOB which takes about a week. For the last visit one of my family had, insurance paid extra so now they owe us a refund. They are telling us it will take a month to generate a check and mail to us in the same city they are located. That is ridiculous. I do not use this dentist. One of my family members does and really likes the dentist. I think their dentists are OK as they get good ratings on my insurance website. However, their administration and accounting leave a lot to be desired. read more

Thank God for Dr. Tom and his wonderful staff! I live in Chicago, but my future in-laws live in Arvada. While staying at their home I cracked a tooth needed to have emergency dental work. I called their emergency line and Dr. Tom called me back immediately and told me to come in first thing in the morning and he would take care of me. I was in so much pain that night I took a sleeping pill and overslept - Dr. Tom was very understanding and worked me into his very busy schedule - his office was slammed, and I was the moron that missed getting there early yet he was kind, gracious and understanding as was his entire staff. I am TERRIFIED of dentists but Dr. Tom put me at ease. He made sure to numb me up as much as possible and HE thanked ME for getting through the procedure. No, thank YOU Dr. Tom! I didn't have any of my insurance cards with me but Preston at the front desk went out of his way to track down the information and put it all through the system. Everyone who works there is wonderful. I was nearly in tears and everyone went out if their way to be gentle, patient and helpful. I'm having a very hard time believing the negative reviews previously written. First of all, both reviewers have like 1 or 2 reviews total...seems fake to me. Probably a competitor trying to bring their star average down. Take my word for it...this is a fabulous practice. My future mother and father in law are happy patients of this office and they were the ones who referred me. Since we'll be back in Colorado shortly I'll be returning to Dr. Tom for my follow up - I prefer his practice to my previous Chicago one. Thank you Dr. Tom and staff! My family & I have been patients of this practice for ~ 20 years. When Dr Niemi there, we received excellent and professional care. 3 of us had braces through this practice. The new dentist are just sell sell sell. You have wisdom teeth, let's pull them. Your daughter's teeth are crooked, let's get her in braces. New staff can't get the appointments right, can't get the reminders right, can't get the billing right. I did like Dr Jill, however they have lost our business. read more

Don't go here. Billings issues for the third time. Service is average but you get surprised billing 8 months later that you still owe them a balance, even after you've paid your co-pay. They do not ask or investigate why insurance did not pay because they just want your money. Found out it was their error because one of their dentist was out of network. Dentist recommended everyone to have a night guard and that you're brushing your teeth too rough and brushing the enamel away so they recommend tooth-colored fillings which I got sucked into. We gave them 5 business days to respond and let them know if we did not hear from them, we would be forced to cease services. We ceased services, THEN they tell us we breached a contract. I just moved into the area and was so glad to find this place. The office was clean, staff was very friendly, and they had all the cool new tools and knew exactly how to use them. My cleaning was very quick and not too uncomfortable (more fear and anticipation than pain). The dentist explained what he was doing, why, and what I need to do next in detail. Ever since my first visit I've been very impressed with New Era Dental. All of the staff members are friendly and professional, the building is nice, the equipment is of quality, and they're very thorough in covering everything that needs to be done as well as the individual cost to do each thing. More recently my boyfriend has started going to New Era Dental. He had some very unpleasant experiences at the dentist (bleeding gums, lock jaw, etc.) which made him very reluctant to even consider giving New Era Dental a chance, despite my many pleasant experiences with them. Needless to say, he was not excited to go to his first appointment and I was half expecting him to come home and tell me that he wasn't going back. I was pleasantly surprised to see him smiling when he returned home from that appointment, excited to go back for the next one. The staff members at New Era Dental really, truly care about their patients. They greet you by name when you arrive and even call you after your appointments to see how you're doing. I've never experienced this kind of treatment anywhere else. Dental work is not cheap, especially if you're like us and don't have dental insurance. Thankfully New Era Dental offers a billing scheduling award if you can pay in advance and keep all of your scheduled appointments. You can receive 10% of the total cost back in the form of a check the following month. Between the two of us, this has saved us hundreds of dollars. There's truly no better place to go for your dental needs that New Era Dental. read more

I came here because they are open later in the evening than most dentist offices and I did not want to have to take time off for an appointment. Too bad that would've been the better option after all was said and done. First appointment I went for a cleaning and to get a few suspected cavities looked at and set up to be fixed; was left waiting to be taken back and while I was sat down in a chair for much longer than I've ever had to at any other office but this is the least of my complaints here. I had cavities as suspected (a couple on each side) so we set up two appointments to fix them and the girl upfront gave me a quote for what all the work would cost me after insurance (shown in picture 1). I go back for my next appointment, get half my work done, go to pay and she tells me a total that was close to what she quoted me for all of the work, the first appointment. I ask why and she explains that the first time she quotes me for silver fillings but they only do porcelain here so that's the price for porcelain. Although I was annoyed that she didn't do her job correctly and quote me for the correct fillings the first time I payed what she told me and kept my next appointment because as I stated earlier I want to get my fillings done with and I did not want to have to take time off of work. I go back a week later for the other half of my fillings and pay the extra again and go (photos shown of payment receipts). (Let me just add that I sat around waiting again during both of these visits, my appointment was supposed to be at 6, got taken back around 6:20 ish, sat for a while, got numbed, sat for another 30 minutes waiting while the dentist went and squeezed in work on other patients and didn't leave until close to 8pm). A week or two later I get another bill in the mail saying I owe almost $400 more dollars (pictured) when I already payed over $500 and the original quote she gave me for all of my work was under $300. To cut a long story short, this entire time I was not told I was out of network after being given several different quotes and the run around of payments. They took about $130 off of my bill after I called livid that I originally got quoted under $300 and was now paying $900 our of pocket but $130 off of a $900 bill seems almost comical when they could have quoted me correctly the first time or mentioned that I was out of network at any point in time. This office only cares about getting their money, not their patients time, money, comfort, or anything for that matter. Please do yourself a favor and save yourself the stress by finding you a different dentist office that actually cares about helping you. read more

The dentist we all loved is no longer at this practice and there is a new young woman Dentist here. My daughter recently had to have a simple filling done and now has to get two root canals because of damage done to her nerve from the filling appointment. I've talked to other patients who have had similar experiences at New Era with the new dentist. I unfortunately would not recommend coming here any longer. read more

I saw three different dentists over the years at New Era. Each dentist failed to notice that I had a vertical root fracture that lead to an infection and bone loss (getting an implant). I appreciate the horrible advice from New Era to continue to floss that area instead of accurately diagnosing the issue. Numerous other issues with this place - moved my care elsewhere to a dentist that I trust will take care of my dental health. read more

The worst experience! I went in for grinding. The dentist worked on my teeth, because of grinding my gums had receded. I waited for about 1 week to see if they would get better. My teeth were worse off than when I went in! I went to another dentist who was reputable. She said the dentist did not go up enough with the composite, making the sensitivity worse! She fixed what that dentist did. I called New Era, told them what happened. I was supposed to get a call back but never got one. What I kept getting were bills. I finally got a hold of someone, she told me I have to dispute this with my insurance company. She would not help me at all. Beware! read more

The WORST dentist. DO NOT BRING YOUR KIDS HERE!!! My son had expanders put on in March, that were supposed to come off in August. During that time I changed jobs which resulted in a change in insurance. When I brought him for his appointment on August 10th I was told that they wouldn't take them off until they got approval from the new insurance. I asked the dentist to look at the upper expander because my son said it was lose. He looked and said everything looks good and not to worry about re-cementing it because it would be coming off as soon as the insurance approval comes through. It then took 2 months for them to get the approval and according to the office manager 3 tries to submit the request correctly before it got approved. We had an appointment last week to take them off and the dentist spent 5 minutes looking at him and said that his uppers need to expand further and we should leave them on and start expanding them again. I questioned why he didn't tell us that in August and we could have used those 2 months we were waiting on insurance to do the expansion. His response was "I'm not sure what happened I don't remember that appointment" the office manager was supposed to call me and let me know what happened and she never did. 2 days ago the upper expander fell out (I told him 2 months ago it was lose) and I brought him in today to get it re-attached. I asked the dentist to explain why I never got the call back I was supposed to receive and he responded with (exact quote) "I don't know if you care about your son, but I am trying to help him". Customer service is poor. Too many Dentist coming and going. Staff is always new and always running around trying to find someone who knows what there doing. Wait time is horrible, a cleaning will take 2 hours. If you get a evening appointment time the office manager will not be there to give you accurate pricing for possible work needed. read more

The entire staff at New Era is awesome! We switched to them about a year ago because we were not happy with the chain "dental factory" that we had been using. The staff addressed all of our concerns and went even further and discovered some severe underlying causes to my symptoms. They have me in braces now, something I should have done as a kid. Do not go to this dentist. I was complaining of tooth pain for 6 months. Each time I went in for my cleaning, I was told I needed a bite guard and they kept trying to sell me one. A couple of days later after one of 6 month cleanings, I had a horrible tooth ache. It was in the middle of the night and I nothing I did help. I called first thing in the morning to get in that day. It turns out that tooth that I had been complaining about needed a root canal. Not only that but the specialist I needed to see in order to get it done was surprised that they missed it on an x-ray because of how deep the filling was and that the root was dying. Wow - worst dental experience EVER ! Assistant kept dropping thing on floor. 6 attempts at a simple xray - all wrong - finally the dentist had to take over do it. No after hours emergency call backs, so if you have a problem over a weekend - forgetaboutit. I have had it for over a week and I am unable to sleep in it, it is too long for my mouth and too thick which puts my jaw out of alignment. I was checking out this dentist first for my family. The process was different than what I had experienced at other dentist offices. They do not have a licensed dental hygienist that cleans teeth, the dentist does it. My cleaning was very uncomfortable and caused my gums to bleed severely and throb for the remainder of the day. When I complained that it hurt initially, all that was done was to turn down the instrumentation somewhat. I was also told that I needed braces at a cost of $4,400. I couldn't have been happier with the results of my porcelain veneers. Dr. Niemi and his staff really go above and beyond for their clients. They accepted my health fund insurance which ended up being such a great help and my teeth look natural and beautiful. I decided not to go too white because I wanted them to look natural and I'm hoping I won't regret this later. Overall, the staff makes you feel very welcome, and taken care of. The lab facility they use for the porcelain veneers does an incredible job of making the teeth look real. Also, Dr. Niemi offered me a free teeth whitening before the procedure. I was very pleased with my choice in Dentists and I trust them for anything I might need in the future. read more

When I first started going there I loved the place. love the ladies that worked there and the Dentist was good. I referred all my friends and coworkers cause I loved their dental cleaning process.but after a while the experience became less desirable. But I still loved the girls and their teeth cleaning practices. The Dentist started subletting his chairs I assumed because there was new Dentist in there and new ladies running the front which I understand can get a little confusing at times. My issue starts with they charge me for a bill a year after the date I supposedly received thethis service. Now,keep in mind I have been there five times after the time that they're charging me for this bill. And don't understand why I'm hearing about it so late .So a little frustrated with that I asked them if I could make payments and they said yes then they send me to collections over $180 which I've given them thousands of dollars in the 3 yrs I was seeing them. I paid the collections bill but I will never go to this place again and I will never refer someone to them again. read more

Terrible experience, had a root canal and crown and to this day I continue to have discomfort charged for a porcelain crown and after going to new dentist this crown was not porcelain. well had a crown put on then next visit they said it was faulty. so they replaced it. trouble was i had pain between the teeth. nade 4 trips back before they finally found piece of glue they left in between teeth..no apologies then. latest thing is they talked me into having front fbottom teeth filled to prevent cracking. was told before procedure no payment on my part since i had 2 insurance policies that covered cost..they usually tell you before you comein how much your share is before you agreed to have it done. then i had it done.again desk told me it was all covered nothing due on my end. 3 months later i get a bill for $47.for it..i communicated back to them i was told there was no cost to me..they said i was only given an estimate of what insurance would pay..i wasn't told that at time of agreeing to procedure..they also said they wrote off some cost. but that is standerd procedure medical people always over charge what insurance is willing to pay.but . i have been given print out of costs before this but not this time..anyway they insist i owe them although they cost me 4 hours of my time about crown..so don't go there .they always try to come up with something to get more money out of you read more

Worst experience ever! I had originally went in for a teeth cleaning and to see what the could do about my wisdom teeth. The cleaning was very uncomfortable and the dentist acted like he couldn't be bothered, they took some x-rays of my teeth and I was not shown the x-rays. The dentist said I need braces, in which I was very much aware of, he didn't say anything about my wisdom teeth not being pulled out. He had put a jaw expander in my mouth, he had the dental assisted put my braces on. When I found out it would be over a thousand dollars, my mom and I told them that we couldn't pay that huge amount at once and asked if there were any alternatives, the only thing they offered what was some credit thing. When we asked if we could do some kind of monthly plan they had said no. After finding out we couldn't pay the dentist insisted on taking off my braces, in which they did and I was not given a retainer or anything to keep my teeth straight, after spending over thousand of dollars, I ended up with nothing but a tooth they creaked, crooked teeth and wisdom teeth still in my mouth. read more

I had an issue with a front tooth, saw Dr. Levy who insisted front tooth needed extraction. Made appointment for couple days later, informed he was no longer employed there so Dr Niemi extracted the tooth . He installed a flipper tooth which was horrible and temporary but it never fit well so went back twice for adjustment. Informed on last visit that he would not adjust anymore until I committed to $11,000 worth of work. It broke over Labor Day, called and was told they were not to help me unless I committed to $11,000 work. Alex, technician came to my rescue, had me come in late one evening, sent it out to be repaired. I discussed with CO Dental Society and the mediator suggested I let it go because Niemi would not refund any money nor give me an apology and mediator suggested I find another dentist who would take better care of me. I have had to find another dentist who would work with me to get rid of the horrible flipper tooth that never fit properly. Would never recommend this dentist. read more

Normally I would give New Era at least 4 stars because the staff is very kind especially Dr. Brieske and the dental assistants! However, today earned this practice 1 star due to their billing process and the lady that was at the desk dealing with all the billing! We are very disappointed with the whole customer service skills or lack thereof with the people running the billing department! We were informed that upon check-in, we need to pay right around $1000.00 for the work and when we asked to be billed, the way it was approached and dealt with was very disappointing and not very reasonable! First off, we were not informed of the total expense prior to this appointment or had no idea that we did not have the option of paying partial now and then the rest after being billed! Absolutely ridiculous and very unreasonable... especially since most medical and dental practices give their customers the option of being billed, which then helps with setting up suitable arrangements to make sure the practices get paid with whatever funds necessary! We have always paid all our bills, and in a very reasonable and timely manner for any and all medical and dental practices! Again... very disappointing and unreasonable billing services along with poor customer service attached to this all! read more

A good place to get your teeth cleaned and that's it. If you need any additional work done, DO NOT go here!!! My husband needed 2 crowns and we made the appointment in the future so that benefits could be checked...after it was determined that this was a covered benefit and what our portion would be, we went ahead with treatment. When my husband sat in the chair, Dr Niemi told him that he was going to work on a bridge for him. This is a more expensive treatment and was not discussed. My husband spoke up and then received the crowns. The Dr. bonded 2 teeth together and now my husband is unable to floss in between them. We chose to have another Dentist fix this. Yesterday, I received a letter from a collections agency, without ever getting so much as a phone call or an actual bill from the office. How unprofessional!! Not to mention that this office bills above and beyond the contracted rate of my insurance. This place is a scam!!! read more
