We took the Newport Rhode Island tour, and thought it was super and very well done. We were picked up exactly on time, and it was smooth sailing the whole day. Lucia was not only kind and patient, she was a great driver. She had a lot of knowledge to impart, and even had some fun stories and jokes. We saw the Breakers and Marble House. Both are stunning and a must see when in Newport. We had a couple hours to shop and have lunch. This is a great tour to get a taste of Newport in a day! read more

I really enjoyed a day trip/excursion to Martha's Vineyard. To me, I think the cost for the trip was definitely well spent! No driving involved. You get dropped off to go on a boat to the island, go around the island to different towns on a beautiful day, listening to all the details of the island, get some local shop discounts, some water/snacks and dropped off at your Boston location. It's a great way to spend the day without all the logistics worries..especially if you are doing it with 2 people or less. The tour guides were prompt, informative and good with time management..so you really don't have to worry about anything. If I have time to see around New England again, I would definitely be interested in going with this your company again. They do have trips to Salem, Martha's Vineyard, Newport/Providence, etc...so there's something of interests for anyone! read more

I took this tour group to check out Plymouth and Cape Cod. The Cape Cod leg of the journey was wonderful, one of the best places I traveled to in New England and on my vacation. Unfortunately the bus trip was not fun. Mostly because of be people on the trip. Firstly, there was someone learning the ropes of the trip... so she was an employee. She was there and took two seats for herself on a packed bus so she could be comfortable. She was the only person on the bus with two seats. Paying customers should get that perk not an employee. In the bus, there was a family from Eastern Europe (at least it sounded they were. They were obnoxious. Kept talking throughout the trip and interrupting the tour guide. At one point the tour guide threatened to stop talking if people didn't stop talking. That shut those people up for two minutes and then they kept doing it. That threat is not fair... kick those people off the bus! Don't punish everyone else. The tour guide had no control over the tour. Like when we lost 15-20 minutes looking for a couple who didn't make it back to the bus on time. He kept saying if he didn't find them soon he would move on... never did... so I lost time because some people were selfish. At one point on the bus, the tour guide offered to take everyone to a certain random beach so people can see what one looks like. I come from Florida, I have seen plenty. Well the Eastern Europeans wanted to see it. The bus voted and the majority ruled that they didn't want to lose time in any other site for that. They were unhappy and complained and so the tour guide said well how about we take less time from the other places and give some time in the beach... so a bunch of weak people on the bus agreed. Unfair! I didn't pay for this! And you cannot change a vote if it doesn't go your way. The tour guide just wanted to have a rest it seems. We lost about 15 minutes in Cape Cod and a ton for Pilmouth Plantation. We got to the Plantation at the end of the day where we came too late for the authentic turkey dinner that was to be included. So we got back to the hotel hungry, late and had to eat McDonald's! Yeah sorry but I was sorely disappointed. read more

THIS IS THE TIME FOR MASS RESIDENTS TO VISIT MARTHA'S VINEYARD IN THE SUMMER. The weather is perfect, the crowds are at a minimum and everything is open. I am a Massachusetts resident and this week I was hosting some out of town family. They wanted to go to Martha's Vineyard. I did not want to be hassling with details while trying to visit so I called New England trips on a Wednesday inquiring for the following day. Because of Covid, they were not running a trip on Thursday, but said they had had several inquiries and would consider pulling something together. A few hours later, they gave us the thumbs up and as it turned out, our party was the only one! Because there was no time wasted loading and unloading the bus etc., we had some extra time so our driver Chris took us on an informative excursion through Plymouth to see the Mayflower 2 which had recently been returned to its dock before delivering us to the Island Queen. When we arrived on the island, we were promptly met by Tom, an island native; and once again we received a tailor-made private tour for the price of a group tour. The itinerary normally included time for shopping but Tom gave up the option to skip that and instead used the extra time to take us to some unique and off-the-beaten-path stops that were of particular interest to us. He was very knowledgeable and interesting. We all learned so much and had a great time doing it. It was a magical day that will never be forgotten. I plan to return to the island again in the next few weeks because I have never experienced Martha's Vineyard like I did this summer. I just took a very enjoyable day trip to Martha's Vineyard with New England Trips today. Everything was very well organized and right on time. Our driver from Boston to Yarmouth was really nice, and they provided rest stops and snacks along the way. I also opted to take a three hour tour of the island, and was glad I did. Cannot attest to the entire trip, since we never made it there. We opted for the hotel pickup. Waited around an hour and a half outside in the freezing cold and finally decided to call the company to see what was up. They then told us that we missed the pickup (even though we were outside from 6:00am-7:45am) and we would not be offered a refund even though they took down the wrong phone number for the call. My husband and I did the Boston to Martha's Vineyard tour with Greg! It was our favorite day in Boston! We got picked up at our hotel (talk about convenience) and Greg gave us bits of history while driving to pick up other guests! We learned so much from him. Then continued to the ferry, which was seamless! We got to know a few people on our tour which was fun as well. From there we chose to explore on our own, but I'm sure the tour was worth it. We were staying in Cambridge, so when we took this tour we walked over the bridge and met the bus in front of one of their pickup hotels. We were told to be there at 6:45- we showed up at 6:40 and the bus was full, with the only two remaining seats left not next to each other, so my husband and I took a very long and uncomfortable ride sitting next to strangers. This really, really irked me. The van was small, a little stuffy, and just too crowded. Same with the ferry that takes you to Martha's Vineyard - it was completely packed, not even enough seats for everyone to sit. That being said - taking a trip out to the island for the day is an AWESOME way to spend the day, and I'd totally do it again. I'd just meet the bus way earlier than they told me to be there so I could get a better seat choice. read more

Our trip to Martha's Vineyard was very organized. We received several confirmations the day prior from both the company and driver. We were picked up at our hotel right on time. There were plenty of snacks and water available. Our van was full after making a few stops to pick up other families but everyone got to sit together. The itinerary ran like clock work. Overall, we are so glad we went with this company. We would never have been able to see and do so much on our own in a short amount of time. I actually live in MA and my cousin found this trip for me . At first I was kind of skeptic for paying $80 for transportation but then after doing this the convenience and comfort weighed out trying to do everything on my own . They picked us up from her hotel in a shuttle and then drove us to the Cape . Once we got on the Cape we took the ferry . Once we got off the ferry and were on Martha's Vineyard we took a tour bus . Anthony was a great guide funny had a lot of historical information and added some personal stories . He stopped at a beautiful lighthouse and made sure we made it back to where the ferry and gingerbread houses were so we can have a nice lunch and walk around and shop. My friend purchased us some tickets to Martha's Vineyard via one of Living Social's deals and that is how we were introduced to New England Trips. I really feel like people said it all with regards to this company. If you are in Boston and want to head to MV, don't have a car, etc I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company! The owner/driver was AMAZING. A few highlights: -Commute time to Falmouth/back to Boston= impeccably short -Free Breakfast/Afternoon Snacks on the way there and back (BONUS!) -Spacious, CLEAN, Comfortable seating! The only downfall is that visiting MV should really be a multiple day event, but this provided a chance to get to know it a bit before committing to a longer stay. This past weekend three friends and I went down to the Wrentham outlets to shop for the day. While I love Wrentham, one of my least favorite things is driving there. Enter New England Trips. We were picked up at South Station in a clean and comfortable van, where Steve, the owner and driver met us with muffins, water and friendliness. We got on the road and were there in no time. When we wanted to drop our bags off, he met us with the van. When we were ready to leave, we called him and he was there waiting with snacks for our ride home. This service is definitely awesome. He also apparently does trips to Martha's Vineyard (great reviews on here about it) and when he was telling us about it, unlike most companies would, told us the name of the deal site we could go to find it cheaper. Terrible at the personal touches. The tour guide driving the bus after we disembarked in Oak Bluffs - was inconsiderate. I missed the bus by 2 minutes at our second stop - Edgartown. This entire company could care less if you make it back to the bus. The lady that picked us up at our hotel - Elaine -she was great. But after that - zilch caring about their passengers. We were given a phone number to call if we became separated from our group. What a joke. I called this number THREE times - asking what should I do. The guy had no advice for me. Each time - the response could not have been any more 'that's your problem.' He finally called me back after the 3 phone calls - and told me to take an Uber or a Lyft or the public bus back to Oak Bluffs. I was in tears - went into the visitors center - and the lady working there was so nice. She helped me get a bus ticket and to get on the correct bus to get back to Oak Bluffs. I would never use this company again nor would I recommend them. I do recommend they take a course in how to be polite and to talk your very anxious and upset customers. Visitors want reassurance - 'it's okay' we'll get you back to the ferry in plenty of time. I go to Boston every year - first and last time using this company. read more

Flew up to Boston from DC for some baseball and a side trip to Martha's Vineyard. Steve- the owner and our driver- really understands customer service. I was picked up at my hotel at the exact time promised- complimentary snacks and water to/from Falmouth. The transportation was clean, reliable and professional. Loved having the ferry ticket included- enjoyed the ferry and Martha's Vineyard. Took the add-on 2.5 hour tour- I had travelled alone so it was a great way to get to see the whole island and get an overview- especially the lighthouse and cliffs. Took the Sunday afternoon trip- was able to take some spectacular sunset photos before reboarding the ferry. Steve was waiting at the dock with water and snacks as we relaxed (and some slept) on the trip back to Boston. Awesome trip! read more

I'm new to the area and had never been to Martha's Vineyard so was happy to learn of this service. The entire process went very smoothly. After I emailed to make my reservation they emailed me back quickly and explained where to pick up the bus. When the guy called the day before to confirm my reservation he gave me an updated pickup time so I had less time to wait. The drive was easy and pleasant, and came with snacks and bottled water. We had different drivers each way and both were helpful, friendly and professional. It's a long day and on the ferry ride back I was happy to think I could sleep on the drive back, not have to worry about staying awake or fighting traffic back into the city. The amount of time on the island was perfect to do some wandering, shopping and have a meal. Or there are plenty of beaches, nature areas, etc. if the weather is good (it wasn't the day I was there).I found the island bus service easy to use and was glad not to have a car on the island's crowded roads. I'd never been to Martha's Vineyard, and took the day trip offered by New England Trips. The major upsides to this trip is that it's a package deal that gets you from South Station in Boston all the way to Martha's Vineyard and back. So, even if you've never been there before, you don't really have to PLAN anything, beyond just booking your trip with this company (I guess I would also check out the weather before booking, but that's it). I don't have a car, so this was a great way to get down there without having to convince someone to drive and leave their car parked down on the Cape. NOTE: I know that the consensus on Martha's Vineyard is that one day is not enough and you need to spend at least a whole weekend there. But since I'd never been there before, I wanted to scope it out and see different parts of the island before shelling out $$ to rent a house. New England Trips picks you up in a small bus (15-passenger?) at South Station and drives you down to Falmouth and then gives you the tickets for the ferry to (and from) the island. When you get back to Falmouth, the bus is there waiting as you step off the ferry, and you hop in for the ride back up to Boston. Steve (the owner/driver) was incredibly friendly and helpful. I'm not a morning person and I'm not a long-trips-with-strangers-in-a-bus person, but I actually enjoyed the bus part of the trip. In the morning at South Station, he offered us breakfast snack foods and bottles of water (no charge), along with guides to Martha's Vineyard, so you can read up on the towns and points of interest during the drive down. He also has other maps and information about guided tours if you want to pay for that. He had envelopes with our names on them with the ferry tickets inside. When we came back to Falmouth on the ferry at the end of the day, he was parked right there and welcomed us with more bottled water and bags of chips. It kind of reminded me of a field trip, but in a good/fun way. The bus looked pretty new and was VERY clean (huge plus) and comfortable. I normally can't sleep on planes, trains, cars, or buses but I just put on my iPod and am pretty sure I caught myself snoring more than once. (I had to wake up at 5am to get myself down to South station in time to catch the bus, so I was grateful for this). The bus ride is about 90 minutes each way and the ferry ride takes about 30 minutes each way. The ferry was fine, but obviously not as comfortable as the bus. We were picked up at South Station at 6:30am and were dropped off at the end of the day at South Station at about 6:15 pm. So you can squeeze this in and still be back in time for dinner. However, almost half of your time is spent on the boat and ferry. You have six hours on the island, which is enough to see what you want to see. I got a day pass for the bus system on the island ($7 - worth it) and was able to explore Oak Bluffs, Edgartown, and Aquinnah (cool lighthouse, awesome cliffs, nice beach) pretty easily in that time while still having time to grab a breakfast, quick lunch, and mid-morning coffee break. Six hours may not sound like much but there's not a huge amount of "attractions" on Martha's Vineyard and nothing you do needs to take more than 15 minutes of your time unless you want to just stay there and enjoy it. I like to just move quickly to see as much as possible but after a short time you realize that people go to Martha's Vineyard just to chill and relax, not to check out any kind of tourist attractions. I had just moved to Boston alone, so I decided to go to the Vineyard by myself one weekend day this past summer. When I called to make the initial reservation, I actually reached the man who seems to run the whole show on his own, and he was driving home; he asked me to hold for a second, and pulled his car over to take my information down and reserve me a spot for the weekend I had in mind. How refreshing to speak to an actual person who treats you like an actual person?! As for the trip, it could not have been more perfect. He picked us up at South Station, very comfortable and quick ride to Falmouth, snacks and cold water for everyone both ways, and had lots of info about the Vineyard for us. Our driver to and from the ferry, Danny was amazing... Extremely knowledgable about the area.... I learned more about Boston from him on our trip back to the hotel than I had in 3 days of being in Boston!!! I loved that he offered water, snacks for the 1.5 hr ride there and 1.5 hr back.... We enjoyed our trip to Martha's Vineyard, but the reason for my 4 star is the tour on the island was just a rush around the island with a couple of 20 minute stops and I understand that we had to keep moving to have a couple of hours in town to eat and shop, but there were other spots I would of preferred to eat/dine, than the last place.... I would highly recommend to get a scooter and goto Edgartown( think I'm spelling that right) aquinnah which is gay head and then there were some other cool places as you head back to ferry... This is a new company, only open for the last couple of weeks, and they're providing a great service. They make it possible to take a day trip to Martha's Vineyard from Boston. This is traditionally hard because all the ferry services to the island leave from Cape Cod, so if you're looking to do a day trip, first you have to get to the Cape (bad traffic in summer months), park and book a ferry. At the end of the day when you come back, the traffic back to Boston is always horrendous. It's a long, hot, drive on a day that started very early, and if you've done it, it's enough to make you never want to do it again. This is where New England Trips comes in. For their $93 fare, they pick you up at your hotel and provide transportation to and from the Cape, as well as the ferry ticket, so it's an all-inclusive way to take a day trip to Martha's Vineyard. I took the trip yesterday and it was great. Since I wasn't at a Boston hotel, I took the T from the suburbs to South Station (first trains start running just past 5am). Steve, the owner, met us at 6:15am in a new mini-bus that seats 14. There were five people on the bus. Steve couldn't have been more accommodating. Super nice guy, he had cold water and snacks for the trip, newspapers, and island guides. He dropped us in Falmouth right at the entrance to the Island Queen ferry with about 45 mins. to spare. The package includes a ticket for the 9:00am ferry, and the 3:45pm return. When we got back on the 3:45pm ferry after a day on Martha's Vineyard, Steve was there waiting. After a day of sun and walking around, it was awesome to just sit back, enjoy the AC and dive into his snacks as he negotiated the stop and go gridlock back to Boston. Traffic was particularly bad-- we got back at 6:30pm. It was fantastic to be able to sleep on the ride back! Very happy with how the trip went-- if you're looking to do a day trip to Martha's Vineyard, this is the best option by far. On a side note, when you pay on the website, there's an option to sign up for the 2.5 hour island tour of Martha's Vineyard given by a different company. We did it, but I wouldn't recommend it; kind of boring, and it takes up too much of your limited time on the island. read more

It was a great day trip to Martha's Vineyard from Boston. The driver/owner of the van picked my friend and I up at our hotel on time and carried us to the ferry. We were given muffins and drinks which helped make the ride to the ferry go by faster. He was very friendly and courteous. He explained everything we needed to do once we left his van and care at the ferry. He said he would be there when the ferry returned in the afternoon and true to his word, he was waiting when we arrived. Booked an all day tour to Newport Mansions. We saw 2 mansions, had a tour of the city, a tour of area where the mansions are, a short walk on cliff walk and had time for lunch. I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed the trip. Chris our tour guide was knowledgeable, entertaining and very likable. He even had chargers for our cell phones after all the usage on the trip. Provided us with drinks, snacks and waters which was terrific.
