About half of the building is dedicated to a very educational museum about the ecosystem of this region, the native peoples who live here, and how they were impacted by the fur trade. Upstairs is a rotating art exhibit about the region. You can climb the winding staircase to the upper tower of the building (or take the elevator) so that you gaze upon the wetlands and forests nearby. There's a 3/4 mile boardwalk that takes you though the conifer forest, sedge march, and grassy fields where you can take a rest on the benches and animal watch. Lots of red wing blackbirds were there with their recognizable calls. Very educational.

I like looking at the handmade items along with the books There is usually some local artwork of interest. My experience with the person running the store was not as 'friendly' as some of the other posters. I was greeted pleasantly and made small talk while browsing. All was going well until the man at the desk asked me if I was taking pictures on my cell phone. I was standing near the front counter using my cellphone to text my friend where to meet me. I was so insulted and embarrassed in front of other customers. So be warned - phones away and hands up if you shop there.

There are like 50% of unique type antiques, but this has such great stuff, and it is not a tourist trap of stuff. It has some local artist pictures and other artist stuff. Dissapointed, I got the flat top back on and the cover on. There was oil all over my hands. I put it back in its original box. I couldn't get a refund, so I put it back in my luggage.
