It included color sealing a tiled kitchen counter with extremely stained grout that could not be cleaned. Also color sealing three floors and two tiled bay windows. Everything is completely transformed. It's early days, but even the countertop has been easy to maintain despite the insults of a busy kitchen. We had one glitch. The technician applied samples of several colors to each part of the job. The one I picked for one of the floors looked very unattractive to me once it was applied to the entire floor. It wasn't Sir Grout's fault, but Chris worked with me to find a very fair solution. By the time the technician left the floor looked great. I also showed Chris a fully tiled bathroom. Aside from the floor, which we did color seal, Chris recommended skipping that room since it is in such good shape and showers can get expensive. It is refreshing to find a company that does not oversell. I think that Chris takes a very long term view of his company and values loyal customers over short term revenue. So I can highly recommend Sir Grout!

Two other floor people whined about the engineered wood and the prefinished hardwood and how much they didn't like working with it, and Juan was like, "Ok, yeah, let's fix it up for you!" He spent time with me to figure out the color, made adjustments in the plan when we realized the risers couldn't be salvaged, and was just fabulous to work with. I've already recommended him to a friend and will have him restore my grandmother's cedar chest. One floor refinisher was almost 2x Juan's price, and one was 1.5x more, and neither were very nice. Don't hesitate to call Juan!

My floors look new, and now closely match the color to the connecting hallway. Everything is cohesive. Regrettably, I made the mistake of hiring my contractor (now former!) to previously refinish the same four floors. They made a mess. Fast forward, this team fixed the rough spots and welts, and, left nothing underneath the poly (e.g., brush hair, knee pad prints, etc.). AJ is a testament to flooring being a specialty, just as plumbing and electrical are. (Tip: All flooring services charge for moving furniture, as I discovered while getting initial quotes. So if you want to save a few hundred dollars, have family and friends help you move furniture before and after the refinishing job.) I personally will use this team going forward for my flooring needs.

A few neighbors promptly recommended Trefler's in Newton. I took photos of the damage and stopped in at Trefler's. The person I met said the repair would be around $400 and would take about 10 weeks, which was far more than I expected for such a seemingly small repair. Consequently, to my delight I discovered Burma Design, Antique Furniture Restoration and Conservation at 65 Sprague St. East in Hyde Park. I called Matt Burstein, forwarded a few photos of the damages and had quick, thorough and professional email and phone correspondence with Matt. My wife and I moved the mirror to Matt's bright, spacious workshop and to our delight Matt was able to beautifully repair our mirror in less than a week for a fraction of what Trefler's suggested it would cost. We were so impressed and pleased with Matt's stellar work and our enjoyable and informative interactions with him, that I offered to write this unsolicited testimonial. In our talks, we discovered that with a background rooted in furniture design, custom cabinetry and furniture making, Matt Burstein has over 35 years of experience in museum quality antique furniture repair, conservation and restoration, period finishes and techniques, as well as antique furniture authentication. Passionate about detail and craftsmanship, Matt's diverse range of services include: * structural stabilization and joinery repair, * carving, fabrication & replacement of missing parts & carved elements, * color and finish matching * inlay, marquetry and veneer repair and replacement * finish refurbishing and conservative cleaning * French polishing and brass polishing * custom period finishes Matt at Burma Design, LLC, can be reached at 617.276.3776 and MB@burmadesign.com https://www.burmadesign.com/
