This boot store is still open. It is now run by a very nice man. The former shop keeper responsible for the negative reviews below is retired. They have a good selection of quality boot brands and some good bargains. Owner is working on the inventory and selection and welcomes your feedback. Consider looking past the old reviews and giving the new owner a new chance. read more

Great selection of boots, The owner is amazing and should really have his own prime time show. This is live theatre and there should be an entrance fee to get in. HIs knowledge of his products and boots pale to the act he performs ragging and insulting his customer. It's not personal, he is only tapping into the voice of society around him. Go in to his shop take the abuse and walk out a stronger person with new boots , and a new step forward in life. Peace, Anthony read more

We walked in and asked for A specific high end work boot... owner screamed at us to get out. I'll be honest wasn't expecting that. I feel bad writing this cause it seems the owner has mental health issues. Not a dr, but bipolar would be my guess. He needs medicine, therapy and a safe place. He needs friends and family to intervene. This is not going to end well unless he gets help. Mental health issues do not fix them self and get worse with age. I see some Made up reviews , you aren't helping. Covid has been been tough on us all. read more

Walked in .... asked what we were looking for ... told them and the reply ... You are not looking around in here during the pandemic. You have to go. That's it ... turned around confused and left. read more

Unfortunately, the older owner answered the phone and made rude and assuming comments when I called to ask about what he had in stock in my size. I have shopped there many times and try to support local. It's unfortunate that his old fashion mindset and approach to customer service has lost my business. read more

Called to see if the store carried a certain brand and the man who answered the phone laughed and asked "if I was queer?" I will be taking my money elsewhere. Agree with all other one star reviews, avoid this place. read more

If I could put no stars I would. I came here with my father and the owner opened the door for us. He was an old, bigger man with cane. As I took my first step in, he looked down at my Ugg slippers and asked where I got them. I replied with "online". He then said, "you people who shop online slit my throats, get out" and I thought he was joking so I just laughed it off and looked away. He was not joking and said "get the fuck out" I was in disbelief and thought he was kidding. I asked him if he wanted the 250-300 dollars I was planning on spending on boots and he said that "i dont give a fuck about your money" which is confusing why he made such a big deal I bought shoes online that he doesn't offer in his store, if he didn't care about money. Horrendous owner and shitty way to run a business. Do not go here. read more

I was having problems finding a American made Chippewa boot in my size because of the company's struggle to access materials. Tried several places with no luck Until I contacted New England boot co I spoke with the owner who was friendly and courteous and had the pair I was looking for and offered to set them aside for me. I was blown away with the inventory of quality boots and footwear. I enjoyed my experience there and will continue to shop there in the future Thank You Sincerely Dan Couto Sr read more

Called to inquire of the selection of boots , I asked my question about the variety of boots . The employe or owner - a older man gave me a smart ass answer which didn't even answer the question then hung up . I am so happy I found this place, we will definitely be back soon! I'm honestly shocked by all of the nasty reviews. From the second I walked in the owner was incredibly helpful and willing to answer any questions I had. He has a very large selection of boots and truly knows a lot about the products he sells. I did not read the reviews before I walked in and I'm glad I didn't...I had an absolutely excellent experience here. I ended up leaving with two pairs of boots at a price that truly couldn't be beat! Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed! read more

I agree with the 1 star reviews here. I was in there one time looking for some boots. I hadn't heard of the brand before and asked how they compared to some of the brand names I was used to. He muttered some smart @$$ed under his breath reply which I didn't quite hear fully. Instead of asking him to repeat himself as it'd likely have escalated, I said good luck selling these and left. I've since learned some things about him and have no idea how this bi-polar wingnut stays open!!! read more

I don't know how this guy stays in business. Bought boots once, he was fine. Went in for my wife to look at biker boots, he was very rude. He said we were only in there to "size" boots and said we were not buying anything from him and using him. Well, we didn't buy after that. He said more but it wasn't real clear. I will never go to this store again, go if you wish to be insulted by a jerk of an owner. read more

This is a wonderful store for men's work clothing and boots. Prices are reasonable and the person who runs this store knows his stuff and is swimming in character. Visiting this store is always a wonderful experience. read more

This guy is the rudest person I have ever dealt with in a store. I wouldn't buy anything there. Went in with my husband to buy a pair of boots, and he tells me to sit down. Ask him if he had a higher boot and he says I guess we are done here. Yes we are buddy, never going back. read more

Don't waste your time. Very eerie place. Says open, door locked. Went to walk away, older man opened door rudely saying"what are you looking for." Boots of course!!! Man said only one o could come in. Very uncomfortable, would not go in. Got very bad vibes, he looked nervous, hesitant to let even one in. Turned him down. When walking away door locked again. Thought I'd give this place a try the other day and upon pulling in I noticed a "be back in five minutes" sign. Five minutes turned into ten and ten turned into twenty but I waited around as I was in need of some new boots and it isn't too often you stumble upon a boot store this far up north. Finally the owner pulled up and opened up the doors and let some customers in. I got up to the door and the door was locked. Finally Steve came up to the door and popped his head out and said very rudely "kinda hard to open the door if it's locked ain't it...what do you want?" I gave an uneasy laugh as I thought that maybe he was just joking around. I said that I wanted to look around and he creepily looked me up and down and said I wasn't aloud to shop in there. Not exactly sure why as I had a mask on (as the sign on the door asked customers to do) and was wearing normal street clothes. I was taken back by what he said and he then slammed the door in my face. This is the first time in my life I have felt so discriminated against at any business and for him to go as far as to tell me that I couldn't shop there is appalling. It is service like this that is resulting so many people to take their business online and elsewhere. read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. There is A terrible selection of boots in the store and even the ones they had seemed cheaply made. The owner was rude and condescending to my wife and I and seemed to act as if we were inconveniencing him somehow. To top it all off the owner is known as the "Boot Nazi" because of his obsession with having people's cars towed who park in the lot. He watches people park and if you don't go into his store he will call and have you towed! $245 to pick it up from literally across the street! Apparently he owns the plaza and has some major issues. If this was the last place on earth to buy shoes, I'd rather go barefoot. read more

This guy. Wow wow wow. I went online to find a local store that sold Red Wing boots, just relocated to the neighborhood and do think shopping locally is important. That being said, I walk through the door and this man sitting slumped down behind his dingy counter asks me what brings me in, not so nicely, mind you. I told him I was looking for some work boots. He proceeds (5 minutes) to give me the 3rd degree on how he's being cheated because of online shoppers. (Hmmm, I think to myself, I'm standing your store). He then tells me most likely he doesn't have what I'm wanting... ummm, how would we know if you don't allow me to look around? I then take a breath and describe what I was hoping to find to give this bitter man a opportunity to change his tune. His reply is, "I'm so sick of you people asking for XYZ". I then looked at him and said, clearly doing business was not a good fit and walked out. This guy just lost a 350$ sale because of his false perception of the retail consumer. Maybe, just maybe even if he didn't carry the boots I wanted, allowing me the opportunity to browse would STILL result in a sale. No sir, you can not compete with Amazon nor do I believe your local "customers" are asking you too?! I certainly wasn't. Best of luck driving your business further into the ground by lecturing the people that DO walk through your doors. read more

Stopped in today after driving by a couple days ago to see what was available. Upon entering the store the owner introduced himself and said "he was there to help". Asked if we were looking for anything specific or just wanted to browse. We looked around and had any questions we had answered and even ended up sticking around for 15-20 minutes as we got talking. I can see how some would consider the owner gruff, but he was never unpleasant. I appreciate the honesty vs trying to sell us something we would be unhappy with. Which is actually what he did by recommending we not buy a boot that fit questionably because my wife wouldn't be happy down the road. If you want to argue internet prices it may not be the place for you. But I would think it would be worth a couple of bucks difference to actually be able to not only try a boot on, but have someone knowledgable assist you in picking the right shoe. Although I found the prices to be inline and fair. We bought 2 pairs of boots today, and next time we are in the area we will be back. read more

I highly recommend coming here for work boots! The owner knows a lot about the different brands and will fit you in the shoe that fits your needs best. He's a great guy who looks out for his customers. I disagree with all of the reviews and recommend that you give the store a chance and make you're own opinion. read more

I am not sure why everyone is giving this place a bad review. The owner was one of the most helpful and polite salespeople we have dealt with in a long time! My husband was looking for flat soles, no stitching in the toe work boots all over MA and NH. The owner pointed him to several options and he finally found the right pair at NE Boot Company. The prices are really fair, selection of work boots is awesome, and the customer service was superb! Will definitely be back! read more

AVOID AT ALL COST Condescending, deceiving, rude, insulting (the list goes on). In case you're wondering all the 1 star reviews on here are accurate. Unfortunately I saw them after the fact. The owner was rude. Totally gave me the notion that I was bothering him. After my purchase, I decided I needed the money more than the boots so I went to return them. I explained that an unexpected expense showed up on my account and I just needed my money back. Boots hadn't even left the box as it was only mere hours after the purchase. He responded "We don't give money back here. You know why? Because people like you come in, find their size, use our services and then go online and buy them. All I can give you is store credit. It says in on your slip". Granted it did say it on the slip (in fine print at the bottom) but a return policy like that should be blatantly clear PRIOR to the purchase. I was originally going to accept the store credit but I won't be in this area again for a long time so unfortunately I have to keep the boots. Completely regret ever giving this guy my money. Also Another customer came in while I was trying on my boots and she asked if they had any cowboy/western style boots and he responds in a condescending tone "Well what do you want?". Clearly tripped up by the rudeness she said "well I don't really know, I just wanted to look around". He proceeded to give the same speech saying "Look lady, I can't have you just looking around getting your size....etc". It is SHOCKING this man is still in business. read more

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE!!! I have been looking for a new Carhartt coat and decided to stop into New England Boot Co for the first time. I told the owner what model i wanted and that i wanted it for Ice fishing. He looked at me and said " im not selling you a nice coat like this for fishing". I thought he was joking, and said that i read online that this coat was the warmest avail. He then told me that i was not welcome in his store because I shop online, and proceeded back to the counter yelling am me that " you Fu#@*ng young people are ruining everything" . He then insulted my wife before we could get out of the door. PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE AND LET THIS MISERABLE OLD BASTARD GO OUT OF BUSINESS. read more

Stopped in recently to check out this local spot. Have passed it for years and finally had a moment to visit. I was stunned at the RUDENESS of the Owner and his condescending attitude. Inquired about a zipper on my Harley Davidson boots and was accused of "abusing" and "blaming" the boot! Needless to say, I immediately went elsewhere to purchase the boots and Carthartt gear I needed for my crew for Christmas gifts. Am sorry if the guy had a bad day, but if I'm spending a few $1000.00 it's not gonna be in a store that treats me like an idiot. Stay AWAY, there are far better places to spend your hard earned dollars in this day and age. read more

Walked in, was asked how I could be helped. Told the man working what I was looking for (pretty sure it was the owner). Then was mocked, was told by the associate he couldn't help me. Was politely asked to leave his store. Pretty damn rude for someone in customer service. read more

I would give zero stars. I called the company today and asked about their stock of women's boots in my size before I drove 2 hours there. The gentleman on the line told me he had a few and listed the brands. I politely asked the specific model types, so I could look up what they looked like before driving all that way. And he said: "I don't deal with people who use the internet, m'am." And hung up on me. I was so nice to him and COMPLETELY shocked at the response. Awful customer service. read more

Absolutely the most racist, homophobic person I've ever had the displeasure of doing business with. Unfortunately, we had already bought a pair of HD boots (very reasonably priced, btw - I have to be honest) before I fully realized what a jerk the salesman/owner was. First, he made a point of saying that his "pet peeve" was people who say "aks" instead of "ask". It was my husband who was talking at the time and I've never heard my husband say that, not in the 12 years I've known him. Fact is, he didn't say it but if he had, what difference should it make? Anywho, I explained that we were from New Orleans and that's the way people talk, and he said, "just because you're around blacks doesn't mean you have to talk like them". Ok, whatever. At least he didn't use the N- word, right? I guess...so THEN I mentioned Doc Martens and I thought he said they were "fad boots". (I'm fairly deaf.) Later, my husband told me he said "fag boots" and that he had said that once before when I wasn't there. REALLY?!? Had I known, we would have asked for a refund. Last thing - I told the server at a very nice establishment practically next door some of this. She was Hispanic and said that once, as soon as her and her husband entered the store, he immediately said that he didn't have anything for them. Like, immediately. I'm now disappointed I gave this man my money. I would rather pay more for a pair of boots than support an obvious POS racist asshole. read more

I have never been treated so poorly or rudely by a salesperson or shop owner. My husband asked the price of a pair of boots and when told by the man working how much the boots cost my husband said to me I think that is more than we paid at x store. Not in a negative or critical way but as a statement to me. The man said "well let's see what we can do about that" taking the boot from my husband and walking toward the door indicating that we should follow him. He opened the door waved his hand indicating we should exit the store as he said "you can leave". We were shocked that someone would be so rude. I asked why he was being so rude to us. He replied pointing to my husband that "he was rude first". I repeated what my husband had said which was not rude. He proceeded to close the door that he was holding open on me pushing me out of the store with the door. Another couple was entering the store as we were pushed out and upon hearing and seeing what happened decided to leave. Horrible service. Rude employee or owner. read more

Do not even step foot in this store, the owner is the most rude salesperson you will ever encounter. I uploaded the Yelp app specifically to write this review. That's how upset I am, was. It was my first visit to this store and, unfortunately, I had not read their reviews. I went there to purchase some work shorts for my husband. I've often heard good things about the Carhartt brand. The man who helped me was tolerable on my first visit, but then everything went sour. I had to exchange the two pairs of shorts for a different size. This time, the owner was a rude pig, talking about how men get "satisfied" by women so they gain weight. I was repulsed and couldn't leave the store fast enough. Turned out that my husband didn't really like the shorts, they were a very heavy material that would not be suitable for summer and the work he does on a golf course. I warned him of the owner's rudeness and sent him to do the return. Big mistake! The owner was obnoxious and insulting to my husband, calling him a "pussy" for not liking the shorts. My husband was shocked at the old man's tone and demeanor. Never in all our years have we encountered such an ass in retail. Needless to say, we will never go back and we will share our experience with as many people as possible. Stay away from this miserable person! read more

I wish I would've read the reviews of this place BEFORE shopping locally. I bought two pairs of boots in late November 22, 2017. One pair of boots started ripping in the high heel almost calf area. First noticed this January 06, 2018. That is 46 days total and worn only at most 15 days. So of course I am thinking I will stop by the store and see what their policy is. I bring the boots in on January 18, 2018 @ 4:30 pm. I learn the man that 'helped' me is Steve Gerrato, the owner. I state to him that I bought these not too long ago and they are already ripping and show him the boots as I place them on the counter. He decides to start off by saying "Well, I can tell that you are the reason why they are ripping? [giving me a shit eating grin]... you want to know how I can tell?" I look at him and say "sure tell me" and he says "You don't untie them talking them on and off." I look at him and say something like "you are kidding me [most likely rolling my eyes]" and he says "I know this because the boots are still ties up"... I look at him and say "You got to be kidding me. I tied them up to bring them in here, thinking you were going to help me return them"... I asked if he was going to help me out and he says "I can give you tape", I said no I don't want to tape them and asked again if he was going to help, if not, you lost a customer permanently. And he went demented and said "Just because of that..." as he opened his cash register and grabbed a 100 bill and a wad of 10s and threw them over the counter and AT ME. And started yelling "Here, how about that"... I was already a few feet away from the counter because as soon as he presented his detective story to me I was upset and felt my blood boiling. I walked out the door. He never talked about the return policy, never went to see if he had any other boots, offered an in store credit, nothing... just went straight to blaming me to craziness. This guy doesn't belong in customer service never mind owning a business. The guy is lucky that I didn't get a bodily injury because apparently in the State of New Hampshire that is how assault is defined. I went to the Hampton Police Station and that is what they had told me. If only I had gotten a paper cut. I would love for this guy to NOT be in my neighborhood or have to do tons of community service for all this harassment and assault he has been giving out in our neighborhood. Even the police officer I spoke with describe the owner using "douche", "dick", "asshole", and "mentally unstable." Before I went to the police station I went to a store across the street and chatted up the lady there. I really just wanted to know his name and she said "I don't know his name but I hear he is a jerk... why?" The whole area seems to know he is a jerk. So I can't believe he is still in business. The police officer said it is because he does have good deals once in a while compared to Amazon and other places. And there is no competition in the area at all. So I can only hope that people read the reviews and choose to not support this jerk. read more
