I contacted Discount Movers as they were in the same zip code area. Ardeen answered, listened to the situation and said he would be happy to collaborate with us to find a solution, he dropped his truck fee and significantly cut his moving fee to meet our budget. Discount Movers did a great job moving, arrived on time, very courteous and professional. They were an absolute blessing to this veteran and we are lucky to have them in our community. I would highly recommend them for your moving needs.

Discount Movers moved my possessions locally when I purchased another home in October 2024.The…read moremoving process was smooth and the moving crew did an excellent job. My disappointment has been with the owner of the company concerning several damaged pieces. One of the movers placed one of the leaves to my dining room table under the proximity of lift. Another mover lowered the lift without knowing the leaf had been placed there and damaged the leaf. A large wooden tray was damaged and it was also repairable. A chair with a cane back had minor damage. I am thankful I did not allow the chair to leave for repair. I understand in the moving process things happen. The owner took the 2 items for repair. I have called multiple times seeking my 2 damaged pieces. He has not returned them and is not responding to my text or calls. I just want my two pieces back, even if I have to take care of the repair. I have looked for a replacement leaf and unfortunately I have not located one. The leaf came from an antique walnut dining table with very clean lines of which caught my attention. my attraction to the table has not lessened. The tray was a classic wooden try that was the companion to a large unholstered ottoman coffee table. The repair and return issues has reduced what would have been a 5 star to a 3 star rating.

The person I dealt with on the phone, DJ, was personable, patient, and helpful, and they moved my…read moresister's furniture and appliances exactly when they said they would and without incident. However, pricing and payment were an issue. I was first given an estimate of $390-$490, but it ended up being $690. Then, due to a recent experience with a bad employee, they could only accept payment by Venmo or CashApp, rather than give them a card number by phone. The problem with that is that I had neither on my phone, so I had to add one, and neither Venmo nor CashApp allows you to use a credit card, so I had to put it all on my debit card, which was an unexpected and inconvenient expense. I hope they come up with a better payment system, but again, DJ and his crew handled their part perfectly.

I reviewed this company immediately after they packed the home I was moving out of, and the workers…read morehad been there since early in the morning. Even though I had paid for the service, I was impressed and grateful for the help since I am disabled, lived on the second floor, and could NEVER have accomplished any of it myself. Although there had been a few snags (workers taking long breaks, smoking at the door of my apartment, arguing with each other about who was not working or who was moving too slowly) when I called the office, it seems the matters were handled well, so I was still okay with the initial results of the first part of the move. However, I had no idea how my evening would end. My move was from one city to another city 45 minutes away. The workers met me at my new place but seemed rushed and almost aggravated when I pulled up. I didn't know if it was at each other or me, but I tried to ignore it. At the time, I did not realize their boss/the manager had joined the crew. He did not identify himself to me. I could hear that they were cursing at each other and rushing each other along, instructing each other how to unload my belongings, but I didn't understand why. After all, this apartment was on the ground floor and the parking was just outside my door. In any case, I tried to ignore it because I was just thankful to be in my new place. Every box and bin was supposed to be labeled as they were packing since I had gone to great lengths to designate items and instructed the packers at the other location. The group ended up staying and unloading past midnight, resulting in items stacked up in my two-bedroom, two-bath apartment in a highly unorganized way. As I mentioned, I am disabled. Large wardrobe boxes (nearly as tall as I am) lined my hallway so that my walking device could not fit down the hall with me. All of my closets were stuffed with the same wardrobe boxes. My kitchen was full of heavy boxes that I could not move, blocking all appliances and leaving me unable to use my kitchen for months. Everywhere I turned, there were boxes and boxes stacked on top of each other. Most disconcerting was #1. Many boxes were not labeled and were incorrectly packed (items were just dumped from drawers or cabinets into boxes without care); #2 boxes were placed in the correct rooms (leaving me having to search for essential items). Many of my items were damaged due to the way they were packed or not packed. I am still finding broken items as I continue to sift my way to open boxes, little by little, almost one year later. Using Tri-City Mover's services has left me in a dire situation for quite some time. Due to my condition, I could not move much of anything, but I had to enlist the help of a kind volunteer college student once, and then ultimately had to hire someone to help me slowly undue what was done. I would not recommend this company. They overpromise and severely underdeliver. The customer service over the phone is delightful, but the actual service is atrocious. In addition, the manager, Kelvin, comes off as a problem solver, but he never showed up each time he said they "would fix it," he refuses to give me the company's insurance information so that I can file a claim for my damaged items. He even accused me of "just wanting an interior decorator" when I asked if his company could come and rearrange the boxes to the correct rooms and remove them from blocking my closets. Can you imagine?? This packing and moving service cost me about $2,000, but I paid way more because of the costs incurred to survive and how they left me in my new place. I have used several services such as this and have never had such an experience. I can't believe they are still in business doing things this way. However, I found out they have several websites under different names directing people to the same company, and they do business in NC, SC, and VA very quietly (no registration in VA or SC, so perhaps misguiding people is their business model. I am unsure but will never give them another dime or referral. I retract EVERYTHING I said about them in my initial review. I am also attaching photos of what my new apartment looked like and how some boxes were packed when I opened them just after Tri-City Movers left me in my new place and I found someone to help me make a walking patch.

He finally confirm and they showed up late stating that the truck broke down and was stuck m, that was the first red flag. They showed up with three men, but it ended up only being two men for a two bedroom second floor apartment job, the two guys were courteous enough but amateurs obviously, and had not been on the job long. They left a hose to my washing machine at the old apartment. A couple of things were cracked and broken. They became dehydrated and didn't have any water for themselves and I had not purchased groceries. I went to the store and got them some Gatorade and they started performing a little bit better. This company charges professional prices for amateur service. I would never ever use them again.

We called and scheduled our move with the company owner and he even gave us a call on the morning of our move to see if we were okay with moving with rain forecast all day or if we wanted to reschedule. We had the flexibility to wait a day, but we decided to keep our original move date and hope for a break in the rain. The owner's son Todd and his crew arrived on time and ready to work. They did a walkthrough with us to review what they were moving and were very careful in placing runners to protect our floors. This was a furniture and appliances only move since we were still trying to declutter and decide which household items needed to follow us and what could be donated. Despite a light rain, the crew had the truck packed in no time and headed down the road less than 10 miles to our apartment. They were just as quick and professional unpacking the truck and moving them into our much smaller surroundings. There was no damage to any of our belongings. Total move time from start to finish was an AMAZING 90 minutes. A-1 Moving has a 2-hour minimum and the hourly charge was $130 for 3 men. For $260, I saved my back and got it done a lot quicker than if I rented a truck and tried to do it myself. Hiring A-1 Moving was a no-brainer.
