The work they did in redesigning and installing my property far exceeded expectations. Their design process was incredibly thorough and creative. They had plans for my garden I could have never imagined and honestly doubted was even possible but they delivered, which is exactly why I had wanted to work with her in the first place. Jean Brooks Landscapes came highly recommended from people in my neighborhood, I had seen her trucks and gardens before, and I had heard their segment on NPR which gave me a lot of confidence. Over the years my garden has matured beautifully with the care of their maintenance team. I haven't lost a single plant! We've made some changes over the years, added things and transplanted others and everything has been so happy since the first day. I'm not certain of the other reviews on this site, but everyone I've ever spoken to about Jean and her team had nothing but cheers for Jean and her team. I still have a copy of the original, hand-drawn, incredibly beautiful design plan for our garden which I really appreciate. Call me old fashion but I admire their commitment to detail and design. I spoke with Jean Brooks on 9/15 at length about what we were looking for. She communicated that her company could meet the need and asked me to schedule an appointment. The appointment was made and confirmed with/by Jean Brooks. I have the email she sent me to prove this. On the day of the appointment, I waited 5 minutes before I made a call. I called the number she had given me when we spoke on the phone on 9/15. No response, so I left a voicemail. I then called the company's number on their website. Lots of annotated rerouting happening. Bottom line, I reached no one and certainly not Jean Brooks. As other reviewers have noted, this company has proven itself unreliable and unprofessional. Do not consult them for your landscaping needs. As is clear from my experience and those of others who have reviewed this company, Jean Brooks will not show up. Very disappointed, but grateful for the ability to help others avoid a disaster.

For several years the yard service and snow removal was fine. Then during one winter, they stared…read moreputting salt in abundance on the grassy areas where we asked them to cut a path and on the grass that surrounded the the stepping stones leading to the front door. The had never done that before. Christen was contacted and was told not to salt in these areas. However, the salt kept coming and the grass started to die off. We told Christian a number of other times not to do that, he said his crew would not, but the salting continued. On two occasions when they arrived to plow, I went out side and told the crew not to salt on the grass areas. But they did so anyway. On the third time, I went out and told each of the three crew members in a not so nice way to not salt the grassy areas. One of the guys responses was, "My boss never told us not to." But why would you need any one to tell you not the put salt on the grass?

I have used Christian for a few years to do landscaping and snow removal on my properties due to a…read morerecommendation from a friend. The quality of his work was passable, but there are a few issues that have come up that really soured the relationship. 1) I received an invoice from him SIX MONTHS after the service date for yard work. I'm not sure how this happens, but more importantly, I'm not sure the service was actually performed. The reason is because the service was to cut back overgrowth that I got fined for by the city a couple weeks later. The only conclusions at this point are that the service wasn't done, or it was done so poorly that it needed to be done again (I hired a different person to do the job properly after the fine, and before the invoice arrived). 2) We contracted with Christian for snow removal services. His contract was deceptively written, such that the first 3" of snow removal was $90, and if the storm was 12-15", then the TOTAL AMOUNT would be over $800!! When I brought this to his attention, he said that I signed it and that's that. I have no comments about the quality of snow removal, but the pricing scheme is borderline fraud. I have filed a complaint with the MA state AG's office due to this. 3) Christian is very responsive on the phone when looking for business, but as soon as you pay him, he'll ignore your phone calls and e-mails. He starts by telling you call him after work. When you do that, he complains that you're bothering him late, and that he's tired and will call you "tomorrow". If you decide to use him, don't pay him until everything is finished. Otherwise it will be difficult to get his attention again! The only thing he cares about is taking your money.
