What an awful place to eat. I eat out a lot as my big belly says but the buffet was cold, the Foo Young was Foo Old like rubber. The fried rice was really dry. The soup had a strange taste. Dessert had a literal pie with nothing but cool whip in it... Barely got a plate of food. The holding temps were well below 110 so be careful not to eat the food. The bathrooms were unclean and smelled badly. $35 for 2 for lunch which we were charged dinner prices being there at 2:55pm. Then when we went to pay, I told the lady that the food was not good and explained. She told me that she had been here like 31 years and never seen me before and everybody liked her food. From the other reviews, I doubt that very much. Many people would just not say anything. It was empty in there when we came and now I know why. She was so rude and told me not to come back she does not need me. Ok, I won't be back unless I get sick. Might happen. read more

If I could give zero stars for customer service and overall experience I would absolutely give this restaurant zero stars. I went to eat there with my family for lunch and was very dissatisfied. The restaurant was dark and unkempt. The food was nasty and cold. When asked if they would be bringing new food out the server waved her hand as if we were bothering her. My mother found hair in her food and when attempting to show the waitress that she found hair in her food the waitress took the food off her fork and put it in her mouth and when my mother reiterated there was hair on the food she then spit it back in her hand. When at the checkout the waitress was being rude and kept telling her (my mother) she did not care. From that point she kept arguing back and forth and from that point we paid and left. RATING NEGATIVE ZERO!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!! On March the 13th, 2024, my family and I entered a New China Buffet and Sushi in Byram, MS for lunch. We arrived at roughly 2:50 p.m. As we entered the restaurant, we were seated at a booth. The waitress took our drinks. I went over to the buffet. I noticed that there wasn't much to choose from on the buffet, but I decided to stay anyway. I asked the first waitress if they would be replenishing the noodles on the buffet. She shooed me away with her hand instead of replying. I asked her again and she rudely said, "Lunch is 11 to 3. No more. Dinner time!" At that time, I went ahead walked over to the fruit bar and got me some fruit. I placed cantaloupe, pineapples, and a piece of pickle onto my plate. No one at a buffet should be eating a struggle plate of fruit because of slim pickings! So many red flags at this place. I returned to the booth and sat down. I ate the first piece of cantaloupe. It was okay. As I went to eat the second piece of cantaloupe, I noticed that there was a piece of hair on it. Now, I do not like to make a big scene, so I quietly beckoned for the waitress to come to my table. When she arrived at the table, before I could tell her what was wrong with the fruit that was on my fork, SHE ATE THE FRUIT OFF OF MY FORK saying that it was sweet and nothing was wrong with it. I said, "Ma'am!! There is hair on the fruit!" At that time, she spit the fruit back into her hand in disgust. The hair was still on the fruit. As I pointed it out, she pretended not to see the hair on the fruit. At that time, I took my phone out and took a photo of the hair (in her nasty hand) and showed it to her. Then she jokingly says, "That look like your hair!" It was nowhere near my texture or length of the hair on my head. It was also an insult to me that she was attempting to escape account make things right. She got upset and began to complain about how much the meals costs and said that only my meal would be free. My mother and 2 daughters had just begun to eat their meals so not much had been consumed. At that point, I told her to ring up the food so that I could leave. She laughed, disrespected us, and told me that she did not care more than one time throughout the whole ordeal as we remained professional. I paid $43.00 for food that my family did not finish. I would like for this business to be investigated because they should not be open. The place was very dark, the workers are unprofessional and I was told "I just work here." I also have video footage to back my case. I don't like that we were treated this way, lost money, left hungry, and they still get to function and get over on people as I'm sure they do every day. I got some food here and it made my mother and I sick. I was extremely mad because she is elderly with dementia. I ordered food Togo and the barbecue spareribs and beef they sold as spoiled. I should have known better, because I ate here about seven years ago and the food is still just as bad.. I thought over the years that the food would have gotten better but it hasn't. so I call them back to let them know that we had gotten sick and to pull the food instead I only got a bad attitude in return. Food is spoiled, food is left on the buffet from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00pm. They do not change it out. I had the shrimp my niece ordered the salmon both of us tasted the food and could not finish it. I ask for condiments and she told me she was going to charge me two extra dollars for two packs of duck sauce. After I had just given her$18 she charged me $5 for a small sweet tea and told me that 4 packs of duck sauce was extra when I had ordered enough to serve 4. She then proceeded to give me one napkin and told me that there's a $2 charge for anything more than one napkin. So I gave her the gravy back and I started to ask for a refund at that time she finally gave me condiments the restaurant has to be greedy extremely greedy in order to charge for packs of condiments which should come with the meal initially. I've been to restaurants that serve Chinese all over the nation. I've been happy with my service the majority of my experiences with the orientals. Horrible! Don't eat here! If I could give negative stars this place would definitely have an infinite number of negative stars! My family gets different plates to keep the foods separate and usually do not make another trip back to the buffet. They had a small few green beans and I asked the older lady who was checking the buffet if they were going to put anymore out and she proceeded to YELL at me across the restaurant about how many plates and how much food was already on our table and said it is a buffet where it is all you can eat and that we had to eat all we had on the table and then they might cook more green beans. It was 2 adults and one of our teenage daughters with us and had no more food than what we wanted to eat. The food was not good. All the other food was overcooked, dried out, or just blah! AND we found a hair in our food to make it worse! I have never felt so humiliated by someone who is supposed to be providing customer service! ZERO STARS I typically pay in cash for tip at restaurants. Last week after the experience i felt like something would happen after observing the woman's attitude to other customers. So i wrote 0 for tip on the receipt and my brother left cash for the tip (we understand sometimes people have bad days and tipped anyway). As i was walking across the parking lot i just had that gut feeling to screen shot where she charged me on my bank app, a few days later i check my account and The woman wrote in her own tip after i wrote 0 in the tip area. This is the China buffet in Byram by Mc Donald's. Three dollars isn't going to break me but it's the principle as well as thief, fraud and whatever it is. The food was not hot but the room temperature was extremely hot. After reading all these reviews it's exactly the way she was acting while we were in the place. Shitty service never refilled my water. She also fussed at a young couple for "over filling " an already tiny Togo plate. And was yelling in her native language. Meh. That's about all I can say. If you want hot fresh and semi-authentic Chinese food... don't eat here. We arrived about 1130AM for lunch while we were in town, just beating the lunch "rush". Got seated promptly, and server seemed nice. Iced tea tasted old and soured. General Tso's chicken was too spicy, not in a good or authentic way. Just overly seasoned, too sweet, and chicken also tasted old. Honey chicken was good, but almost dried out and was hard and chewy. One of my dining companions got the last serving, and the dish on the buffet was never re-filled in the last 45 minutes we were there. Egg rolls were chewy. Not at all crispy on the outside, and had way too much cabbage on the inside. Desserts were just sad. Tried a few of the cookies, and all tasted old and stale. The coconut macaroons were gooey/gummy and were not pleasant. The dining room is also depressing. Not at all cozy or comfortable. Not worth the $30 we dropped to eat there. read more

Such a CONTINUED shame and disappointment. An evening adult buffet is $10.99 and for what!?? This place closed and recently reopened, "grand" opening, they need a grand closing, but to my dismay, after getting seated and going to the bar perusing the buffet tables, the sad reality began to sink in, that all this place managed to do was open up the building for more space. That's it! My family and I KNOW good Chinese-American food when we taste it and this is STILL NOT it! The food always seems to be thrown together with no regard for real flavor! It's as if the cook(s) wants to just put it out and get it over with. No real pride or care taken to cook the food well and make it tasty. The frog's legs were awful! They were covered in this Panko breaded crusty, you can tell they were old, and they were too mean to pull them and make fresh ones, cold, and horrible! The ONLY thing on those bars that was worth maybe $2.99 total, would have been their craw-fish, which I tried to fill up off those! China Kitchen over on Raymond road should truly look to expand their business into a buffet style, sit down eatery! Me and my family try to avoid this place any time we want some Chinese food. However, when we are in the mood but don't want to go far, we always stop here to see if anything has changed. The food quality is never that great but I have seen many good improvements lately. After the grand opening, I noticed that the whole place is much more open and homely. The place has real potential and I feel like by the time someone reads this review, they will have made even more progress in the pursuit of quality. The customer service is great and some areas seem a little dark but nothing too big. The only thing that I can really call "GOOD" is the teriyaki chicken. Everything else tastes pretty cheap. Also, the sushi bar looks much better and has a greater selection, but also tastes very cheap. To summarize: price is high for the food quality, great customer service, lots of potential and always changing so give it a try! read more
