Delicious Chinese food in a flash. My review is based on what I ate. Sweet and sour chicken with steamed rice and a shrimp egg roll. The sweet and sour was good. White meat. Fried crispy while still maintaining moisture. The shrimp egg roll took me back to Tai Hong in the late 70's and House of Wong. Whatever seasoning they use, it's old school and I love it. Made in house and fried fresh to order. The owner was super friendly and I noticed him calling patrons by name when they walked in the door. When I asked how long they had been in business, he replied that his father opened the business 27 years ago. We don't live in Clinton but I will make a special trip to get take out for us. Ordered to good yesterday. During the order process we made a mistake and informed the cashier with in about 5 minutes and there were able to accommodate it. That was great. The overall lay out is what you would expect in a small Chinese restaurant older tables and chairs the normal picture menu. The only small complaint we had was they some very heavily sourced foods in the paper box's not the plastic containers. This lead to some leaking in the bag. read more

I literally just left this place and I'm beyond upset. I spent $18 on orange chicken, shrimp fried rice, wontons, And two pork egg rolls... for me & the kiddos to eat for dinner once they get out of school today and I know they will not eat this. And tbh I don't have any money to waste on Trash food. Especially since gas prices are now between $3.10 - $3.21. It was Hot but NOT fresh (quality was just very low)... m Orange chicken typically has a light orange-like glaze... I even called beforehand just to clarify how it's mad and the guy advise me that it was a sweet like sauce with a hint of orange. But when I dug in... it was a dark sauce and tasted like pure soy sauce. It just didn't taste like orange chicken at all!! Shrimp fried rice - rice was definitely overcooked, bland,only included around 4-5 shrimps The egg rolls - clearly are pre-made/frozen ... I'm use to pork egg rolls being dominantly made out of cabbage with hints ground pork... this egg roll was literally like a meat log wrapped in breading. Wontons - tastes like a dessert than the savory/sweet balanced cream wontons. Also it seems like they used egg roll wrappers verses the thin wonton wrappers.... which made too much breading too thick so basically the part where the filling was at is the only thing that was edible.... and I had to throw away majority of it. I'm not sure why this place has such a high rating. I'm actually beyond upset... I regretfully drove 20 mins away because the reviews was higher here than the Asian restaurant by my own home. read more

I order to go because it's not actually a sit down restaurant. However, there are a few tables there. I love the egg rolls and if they are not made on site I would be shocked !! The dumplings are the best anywhere. I do not understand the bad reviews because it's close to my house and I eat there a lot because you can make 3 meals out of every dish you order and it's marvelous !! A previous posters review of hot and sour soup was what made me choose this place over a few others in the area. The hot and sour soup lives up to the hype. I've never had it with so many veggies in it so that was a welcomed surprise. Food was overall good. I was slightly disappointed that my combo meal was a little cold when the rest of my food was piping hot. You can tell this place has been here forever. They know their regulars. Super efficient. I've reviewed this spot before and at the time there were some consistency issues. I've given it a try almost monthly over the past year and I am pleased with the outcome. The food is back to its original taste and very worth my little over a half hour drive. I have tried other locations closer to my home (Byram) but none have been able to give me the flavor of this one. Based on their suppliers, sometimes the shrimp lo mein or shrimp fried rice just may have some larger shrimp other than the normal bite-sized. Still on my go-to list. My only partial gripes are the indoor seating area; not being used since Covid but not very eat-in friendly. And the fact that they are not open on Sunday. But Jesus did rest, so I'll give them a pass. read more

Absolutely my favorite Chinese restaurant in Clinton/Jackson, surrounding areas. The Customer service is exceptional. I visit a lot so they generally remember my order and ask "same thing" so I never actually have to repeat myself when I go. Their Garlic Sauce is my favorite. I like it a Lil sweet and they get it perfect when I order Broccoli and Garlic Sauce. I'm actually headed there now . We've eaten here every once in a while but I won't be back during the summer months! We were there to day and it was 83 degrees on their wall thermometer! It was so freaking hot and miserable! Atmosphere: Sucks. Haha, not to be mean but 95% of the people here get take-out. Mapo Tofu: Hot spicy tofu dish. The "meat and beans" for vegetarians who like spicy food and Chinese food. It's decent enough. Oily. But hey, when I'm lazy I get this stuff and it's satisfying. Big portions. Chicken dishes: My roommate likes their chicken. I do not. I think it's way too soft and too meaty for my taste. It's only good when you eat it within thirty minutes. To re-heat it and eat it, well it's like chewing rubber. Their sauces are mostly mediocre at best. Chow-mein: It's alright. Salty and your typical rubbery noodles. Good on lazy cooking days. BUT BUT, the people who work here are VERY nice. The guy at the cashier always remembers me and my roommate. He even gives us change for when we need to break a twenty. This is probably one of the reasons I come back here to eat because he's nice and the food is cheap. It's your decent AVERAGE Chinese food. Nothing stellar, nothing too terrible. A Clinton landmark with its own unique charm. Note that it's definitely a place to do take-out only. We (unhealthily) eat here at least 3-4 times a month but it's oh-so-good and really affordable. "Wassup, Great Wall" is how our favorite server answers the phone. And usually tells us our food will be ready in 10 minutes, 15 at the latest. Everything is made to order and super hot/fresh. Our favorites/recommendations include: -Hot and Sour Soup, for when you're feeling spicy -Egg Drop Soup, for when you have a head cold or for when it's actually cold outside. A large of all the soups is approximately $4 -- what a deal! -Wonton Soup - steamed dumplings swimming in warm and delicious broth -Cheese Wontons, orders of 6-12 -Steamed or fried dumplings (YUM) -Boneless Short Ribs -General Tso's Chicken with Pork Fried Rice, ask for it to be spicy if you like things hot! -Sweet and Sour Chicken is my Mom's favorite but I'll be honest, it's never quite done it for me. However, once we finally went, we discovered that Great Wall is the best Chinese restaurant in Clinton by far! Extremely friendly people, quick service and great food. This is always my "go to" place for Chinese food in Clinton. I've been going for years (ever since they opened). I have never had anything bad, and I think I've had pretty much everything on the menu since I've been eating there over the years. My default is the sesame chicken with an order of rangoons, and it's always cooked perfectly and have never had any issues with the food not being good or my order being wrong. read more

I have been eating at Great Wall since a child; my parents chose this restaurant for Chinese cuisine when the area began to decline around our familiar Chinese restaurant Hunan Garden, which was on HWY. 80 in Jackson, MS. I could rely on the fact that the food would always be satisfying in taste and portion for the price. However, the past two visits have been very disappointing. The food seems to no longer have the flavor I remember. You can expect some steam with condensation due to the temperature of the food and type of containers used for packaging but I don't expect it to be filled with water, which could only subtract whatever flavor it may have had. I actually enjoy the non-traditional Chinese that can be found at a shopping mall better for the taste. I am definitely in search of a new Chinese restaurant with take-out that can gain my loyalty. I'm still giving the restaurant 3 stars because it has been great until the current years. read more
