Let me preface this review by saying I suffer from Charcot foot and have been in a walking cast/boot for 4 years. I have been to every shoe store in the tidewater area and have met with less than unsatisfactory service. New Balance was the last place I had yet to try and did so on 8/12/25. My family and I walked in and was greeted immediately and asked if there was anything I was looking for. I went there looking for a particular shoe that they offer but they did not have in stock. Nick, was the gentleman that assisted us and I explained my situation and he knew exactly what I was talking about and started to educate me on the shoes they offered that could help my condition. I tried in several pairs as we talked about hip-hop and how the music has changed over the years. I finally settled on pair. Out of all the places I've visited, this was the only place that listened to me and understood my problem. They weren't trying to sell me a shoe, rather a solution and it was worth it to wear that pair out of the store and finally walk on my own without the help of a walking boot. This New Balance store is located in a shopping area in the Hilltop section of Virginia Beach near the corner of Republic Rd. and First Colonial Rd. There is ample parking in the area, but they do not have any restrooms at this store, so make sure to do your business before visiting if you need to. My visit here was on October 6, 2021. I was in the market at the time for a new pair of shoes to use at the recreation center, as I do tend to use the elliptical and some other things frequently there. I wanted something that would be a great fit for that. After entering the store, there were two people working there at the time, so it was just a few minutes before the worker was able to come over to me, after finishing with another client in the store. Once one of them were done, they came over. I can't remember her name, but she was great to work with. She asked me what type of shoes I wanted and then went from there. We went over a few different kinds, and finally found one that fit me well. She first did a sizing and then went from there. In this case, the only difference in sizing for me was a wide (E) version instead of a regular (D) version. The E version did fit much better than the regular version. Overall, this was a great experience and I did end up purchasing the shoes that she suggested, including the E size after trying them on and walking with them on in the store first. The fit was perfect, and it wasn't popping up in the back while walking and such too. This was a great experience overall and one of the best experiences I have had at any shoe store. I've never had anyone go to that detail to make sure the shoes were a perfect fit for me. I will totally come back here in the future when I need another pair in the future. If you are currently in the market for shoes, you definitely need to give this New Balance location a chance to serve you. Yo won't be disappointed. read more

This review is for the sole purpose of a return and was my first time at this New Balance store. My daughter ordered her NB shoes online and needed to exchange them. I contacted the store and discussed with a friendly male staffer. He asked me shoe info to see if stocked, unfortunately they did not. However, he was willing to return them. I arrived at the Hilltop Marketplace store same day within 30 minutes. The parking lot was roomy and debris free. The same young man assisted me and returned the shoes with ease. An email confirmation was received within 15 minutes. The stores floor was attractive and updated. They split it into male on right, female on left. Merchandise was in the center with checkout in rear. They offer a high tech sizing machine and also ability to run on their treadmill to try new shoes. I probably will return soon and purchase a pair for myself. read more

I had the best experience with the the two gentleman working at New Balance today. I tried to buy the wrong shoe and the guys gently addressed my foot problems and led to the correct shoes for work and play. They even did a scan of my foot to make sure I got the correct size. I found some goodies on sale too. I'll add his name if I find it in my receipt. 10/10 experience today, so I'll be back. read more

I just stopped in this store to browse and met one of your most helpful employees, who knew so much about shoes, Frankie. Frankie was able to answer every question I threw at him (and I had quite a few). I learned so much. He was very helpful. If I owned a store, Frankie would be the exact type of employee I would want representing my store. I ended up buying a pair of shoes when I had no plans of doing so. I cannot say enough about this store and Nick, the guy that has helped me on numerous occasions. His service and honesty about his products is outstanding! I have bought my shoes here for years and now we just picked up a pair for my girlfriend. He took great care of her, we got her a great running shoe based on her needs. She asked about another type of shoe and he recommended a brand of product outside of the New Balance family because it was what was best for her feet and the type of problems she has. If you need good sneakers, you need to come see him. He will take good care of you because I do not think he knows how to do anything else. read more

I ordered a pair of these "cute for kids" shoes from NB for my kiddo. I went to the Hilltop location and was looking to exchange or return for an all black pair of the same shoes. The attendant said "yeah everyone likes all black, but we don't have that here for kids." OK I started towards the men's shoes, just to peek for my hubby, following....me.....the attendant asserted that, "This is a high-end running shoe store so we wont have smaller sizes like that here." Oh lord. As a beige woman, I just took issue. "Umm" I said" I run in Saucony and shop at Running etc. not real sure what you are referring to." NB/Saucony -- its a preference. My point is, how did a running shoe store become "high end"? Balenciaga? Gucci? Valentino? High end running shoes are NOT for running! Just stupid stuff people say to make themselves look great. The low end attendant actually-- and sadly, made the ever-classic NB ( but NEVER HIGH END NB) look stupid for hiring him. I will just pop over to Running Etc. for service and RESPECT. read more

Absolutely loved my experience with this store. Walked in and was greeted by nick fairly quickly. He was awesome! Nick had copious amounts of knowledge on not just the product but also with feet in general. I had no clue which shoe would fit my needs (wide feet and needed stability) he measured my feet to see how wide I needed and how big. I've been wearing two sizes too small for my feet as well as not wearing shoes wide enough...No wonder I have major pain in my foot. Never have I had a shoe that fit so comfortably. New Balance are the only sneakers that fit over my brace and I've been buying them for years. The shoes last a long time. This was my first time at this location and the service was nice.
