I ordered takeout today, excited to have found a place with such strong reviews. The upside - my order was ready quickly - the downside - not so fresh. I have ordered Vegetable korma hundreds of times all over the world & this was the worst - vegetables were so mushy, it was flavorless & if you are going to put paneer in it make sure that's clearly stated on the menu, some of it was very sour. I sincerely considered returning it, but chalking it up to a Monday. read more

I ordered through door dash. My order was wrong and the things that were right were disgusting. My soup container was only filled half way. I spent over $80 and when I called the restaurant, I was told that even though the picture on the app looks like chicken skewers, its actually chunks of minced meat chunks - not what I wanted or thought I was ordering based on the image. It's false advertisement and unfair that they would not issue a refund. I was told to take it up with door dash - who only gave a partial refund. I am beyond disappointed. I will never order from here again. I threw my whole order in the trash. read more

Nice place and great service, menu was pretty extensive. Ordered a few different curries, all were tasty and spicy.

I brought my niece in as we passed through for a sampling of Indian dishes. I took off 3 stars because we had to send our first 3 out of 5 dishes back. The butter chicken was sent back because it just wasn't good nor was it typical of butter chicken I have eaten ever (possibly because they use dark tandori meat pulled off the bone though that doesnt explain the visible spices?)... The goat vindaloo was returned because there was a course, short, black hair in it on our first and only scoop; the replacement was fine and I wouldn't order it again. The palak paneer was returned because is was medium/hot and we ordered mild to satisfy a teenager palate; the replacement was good. As soon as we told them of the problems with those dishes, they responded immediately which earned them a star back. The Lamb Kabab Masala was AMAZING! The samosa was excellent in texture and taste. The rice was fine, nothing special. The Mango Lassi was delicious. It was a little warm inside so other than a quick bite of the spicer palak panner and a few bites of the lamb, my niece's adventure in Indian cuisine ended early as she got overheated and had to wait in the car. The owner (I assume) did come by our table to apologize and to check on us. They even took the time to explain the difference in their butter chicken process and recipe as compared to others. Great customer service! read more

Must-return-to restaurant Quality and cleanliness you wished all buffets had. Get outside of your comfort zone and try a new dish that might just taste better than anything you've had. I believe it's $16 for the lunch buffet and my family comes here all the time. It's a treat! The wait staff are dressed in all black and act professional and kind. read more

I had great Indian food here! I grew up about an hour away but live in a bigger city now with lots of Indian options. My young nieces like to get Indian when they visit me so we wanted to get some when I was visiting them. So we trekked to Moosic. Since it was lunch and they had a buffet we thought we would go for it. They had a great selection. It was all super tasty and fresh. Would love to try it for dinner since their regular menu looked great. The place is really nice inside. The service was great. Particularly given they are the only Indian place for a LONG way... it was awesome to find this spot! read more

Love the Lamb Saag and Masala dishes, my husband and I definitely intend to come back. We have only done the lunch buffet once bec of our schedule, but constantly do takeout read more

They just gave me the smallest portion in history and charged me over $16 for it. Never get takeout from them. They gave the smallest portion and charged 16 plus tax for it! Response from the owner an hour ago What you want us to do? We gave u 30 dollars off for using clippers coupon ? We even used it for take out but being nice to customers we did accept it for you even though u r not happy and complaining then sorry we really can't make you happy Update: They did not give me $30 off for nothing. I paid for that coupon. Paid 15 get 30 worth. That's a deal u made with them, so why bring it up. Also, I tipped u $10. When u sit down and order the same thing. You get more. If ya gonna give less for takeout then charge less Einstein. You should have just replaced it. Instead of being rude to me. Tell the whole truth! So what he is saying, do not use the deal they provide online that you have to pay for. it's not free. Also, I called before. Said i am eating by myself today. Can i use it for takeout. I was told yes, then he tried to say no when i got there. Below are pics of what you get for takeout and when you eat in. WTF are the shrimp? read more

Came here one day while in Scranton on some business. Saw that there was a lunch buffet and we enjoy Indian food and enjoy it even more when you can sample a little of everything so we dropped in. The Naan was fresh and hot, that was a nice touch. A lot of times on an Indian buffet the naan settles to room temperature and it's not as enjoyable. The pakora's were also quite good, better than most Indian restaurants. Everything else to be honest was satisfactory, but nothing else stood out. There are a lot of Indian buffets we have been to where I remember a lot of distinct things about the dishes but everything was fairly run of the mill. It's not bad by any means, and for the Scranton area it's a solid selection for lunch. read more

Huge price disparities between their online menu and restaurant menu. And their only justification for that being 'Everything these days is so expensive but we still try and provide amazing quality food'. Lol I must say. Food isn't great, it's the only place in town so no other option but to give it a try. read more

My husband and I love coming here to take advantage of the all you can eat lunch buffet. This establishment is always clean, the buffet area is kept clean, and the servers are friendly and attentive. The food is fresh and delicious. I love that they have a variety of popular items so you get to sample a little of everything with rice. On this visit, I tried the rice pudding, which was pretty watery, not a thick typical pudding consistency, but I learned why. This is a delicious, creamy, and refreshing palette cleanser between dishes. It's chilled with a hint of coconut and I wish I started my meal with it instead of getting it on my second round. The Mango Lassis are a MUST. Would I return? 100% read more

I was in the mood for Indian food while out of town for work so tried this spot. When I arrived I parked in the restaurant's parking lot. I walked in and decided to sit at the bar. DJ and Bobbie were my waiter and waitress. I started with a glass of wine and for appetizer I got the aloo tikki which was very tasty. I wanted to try the long island iced tea but I didn't care for it so stuck with the red wine. For my entrée I ordered the fish curry. It looked yummy when it came out. I dug in and it was very good and plenty. The bill came out and I noticed the wine was marked wrong in price so I mentioned it. They told me they have to change the menu because the price went up and apologized. Besides that the bill was affordable and I had a pretty decent experience. read more

My first Indian food experience. The buffet was a good choice to try a little bit of almost everything. Clean restaurant, very attentive price was right. I would go back. Mango ice cream was a real treat read more

Food and service fine. However it aggravates me no end when I am charged more than menu price. The beer and wine menu clearly stated one price and we were charged a higher price. The price on menu was handwritten so it could easily have been changed. Nobody seemed to care. We will try other places. read more

A vegan that's exploring in a small town in PA that offers a vegan options is a no easy task. We stopped by this location knowing that they would have a few dishes that would not include meats or diary and it's in a buffet style! Everyday - yummy for your tummy. Ya girl was excited to try a few different dishes all at once. They had one section that has meat in the dishes and one dishes that it's all vegetables. I got to try all the vegan dishes that they had to offer that day and I enjoyed it. I would come back if I'm in that town again. The food temperature isn't warm-hot or cold, it's like room temperature. I was starving that day when I came so I didn't really care about the temperature. The seasoning in the food was there but I feel like they can add some more heat or depth into the seasoning. Service can be a lil slow, to re fill the water and to take way dirty dishes. A restaurant that's right odd the highway is a no easy task to maintain and make everyone happy but it's a very good spot for anyone who enjoys Indian food. read more

I think this is now one of my favorite restaurants in the greater Scranton area. The staff was incredibly kind, the owner and his father were genuine, generous and kind; and THE FOOD WAS AMAZING. Truly delicious food. We will be going back this weekend. Ask the staff which beer they recommend, the Indian beer is delicious. They also have a good selection of scotch! Enjoy! read more

New Amber Indian Restaurant - Tikka masala with garlic naan, basmati rice, achari chicken - Indian Near Me - Moosic, Pennsylvania

Very good service. I love that there is a guy there to always refill your water. The best service I have ever had in a restaurant . I love the nice dim ambiance that the building has, and also the food was so good I had to get more. The naan bread is top tier. And that Butter chicken is phenomena. 5 stars, you must go here. I must tip when I'm there. read more

Food is fantastic if you get it on a weeknight. They must have a different chef on Saturday and the same dish that was amazing on Wednesday is completely different and pretty terrible on Saturday. Wednesday review. 5 stars for Vegetable Samosas, Chicken Vindaloo, and Butter Chicken. Saturday review. 1 star at best. Also, don't order online. You always have to call and tell them you placed an order or you'll never get your confirmation. read more

I was in the area for work and got takeout to bring back home. I finally decided to try a dish called methi malai matar which is basically peas, fenugreek leaves and cream. Also got the new amber paneer for my husband and both of us agreed the food was bomb. I don't eat paneer but tasted the gravy and was impressed. We also got the channa masala and dal makhani but were not too impressed with them after we had tasted the other two. If you live in the area or are there on business, don't miss this gem. The inside looked big enough for large groups and the person handling my order was friendly. read more

I have been coming here for years for the lunch buffet. They have many options to choose from, my favorites being the Dal Makhani, basmati rice, chicken makhani and the tandoori chicken. The fluffy naan is also a must have with your meal! I like heat and they have a little chili powder shaker they bring out when requested. The service is always very good here and the owners are really friendly. I moved out of the area, but when I'm visiting, I will definitely be back! read more

New Amber is located in Moosic, PA right off a busy intersection. There's plenty of parking so this isn't an issue. The outer appearance is scanty but is not representative of how great their food is. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you get a very feel-good classy vibe. Though not an upscale restaurant, you get that classy feeling as soon as you enter. Instantly, you're greeted by the staff and they're very attentive. You're seated pretty quickly as the place isn't usually too packed. Our favorite dishes so far have been the chicken saag, lamb chops, garlic naan, and mango lassi. I generally can't handle as much spice as my better half can (Ang again), which is why Indian food was always a struggle to enjoy. But what's pretty cool about this place is that they do have the option of making their dishes mild enough for my sensitive palate. We generally order take-out, but you also have the option of a lunch buffet during the afternoon hours. This is pretty awesome as you can generally eat as much as you can fill and you have the opportunity to try a bunch of different dishes. Dessert is also offered. Speaking of dessert, the Gulab Jamun is tasty af. It's practically a honey cheeseball... it tastes much better than it sounds. Speaking from my perspective (Angie), this place has definitely changed my mind as I used to give an awkward face every time Indian food was mentioned. This is the perfect spot if you also eat a vegetarian diet. We definitely recommend this spot! read more

Amber is definitely a go to place for Indian food. The times that i have been here, it's always been during the buffet. The taste is very authentic North Indian and the choice of dishes in the buffet is good. The staff are very friendly and plenty of seating as well. They have a full bar as well. Considering that they are one of the hand full of Indian restaurants in the two, they are definitely good - food wise and service wise. Good place for groups and also parties. read more

New Amber Indian Restaurant - Non vegetarian thali - Indian Near Me - Moosic, Pennsylvania

Really the only Indian food for miles, and luckily it's good! Have only ever been here for the lunch buffet (multiple times) and I love it. Tons of vegetarian selections (and non as well) with a rotating menu. The rice is cooked to perfection, the naan is hot and fresh, and I especially love the vegetable korma. I usually try a bit of everything but that is my favorite and they seem to always have it. The restaurant itself is kind of retro, 80's, with booths and plenty of seating. They have an ice cream machine with rose and mango flavored soft serve! Sometimes also gulab jamin. The staff is moderately personable, except the people at the front desk. Each time I have left I have said "thank you, goodbye!" and the people didn't even raise their head or look at me. Really strange. Very happy to have this restaurant in the area. read more

Yummy food, the staff was attentive and it had a good variety of food choices. I would recommend this place to others who like Indian food.

We heard the owner yell at one of the lady workers for about 15 minutes straight. Everyone in the restaurant could hear it. We couldn't continue eating. We went to the bar area in the front where the noise was coming from to see if anyone needed help. I would give it a 0 star if I could it was a total waste of time and money coming to this restaurant. Worst chicken tikka masala I ever had, no flavors. The Biryani had more spices than flavors. It feels like the chicken was just boiled and placed into the pastes and mixed with the rice. read more

I was looking for someplace to have lunch in the Scranton area while on a road trip, and an Indian lunch buffet will always be my first choice when one is available. Hurray for finding New Amber. The decor is very pleasant, almost with a zen-like feel with the fairly quiet atmosphere and music. The food on the buffet pushed all my umami buttons, with everything spiced just the way I like it. There were several dishes on their buffet I had never seen before, such as their squash masala. The pleasant surprise was something I haven't yet seen at any other Indian buffet, mango and rose soft ice creams. They were a tiny bit watery in texture, but the deep, rich, flavor made up for it. The buffet is an excellent deal at $12.99, and convenience to the interstates is also a plus for those traveling. read more

I have not been here in 10 years, and I was happy to find that it is the same owner. I had the Vegetable Samosa, and they were so crisp and aromatic with spices, which was a great way to start the meal. Also the Aloo Paratha was tasteful and not greasy like some restaurants. I had the Curry Goat, and it was done perfectly. The meat was so tender, and the sauce spiced just right to my instructions. I am traveling to that region again on business and can't wait to go again. I highly recommend it. read more
