The first time I patronised this store, I bought 7 or 8 items. The second time, the female owner insisted that I be as talkative as she herself is, and was deeply offended that I had the temerity to be unlike her in this regard. She even told me I should've been chatty with her during my first visit as well. She then proceeded to pick a fight with me by using a loud voice and a very aggressive tone.
Basically, the proprietor has a huge chip on her shoulder because she thinks that being a shopkeeper is somehow demeaning. Because this is her judgement of what she does, she imagines that others are attempting to belittle her for her chosen profession. Customers do not want to be accosted by shop owners who want to blame their personal hang ups on others.
And here's another golden rule of retail shopping that the proprietors have not bothered to acquaint themselves with: Most customers want to be left undisturbed to shop. They come in to look at clothes, not to have mindless chit-chat with strangers. read more
