Very Rude receptionist. I am new to the area and called to make an appointment for a cleaning. The girl that answered the phone explained that the policy was: first, I need an appointment for an exam. Then, I can have a cleaning on another appointment on another day. I love the doctor and staff! They are ALWAYS friendly, personable, and most of all professional. I ALWAYS have a GREAT experience when I come here! My experience with absolute has been horrible. I went in for a consultation and got braces that same day. I paid for clear brackets AND permanent retainers. My teeth were not even bad minor fixes I've had nice teeth my whole life. Two teeth were turning and that's what i wanted fixed i had no gaps no nothing. Had my braces on for less than a year around 9/10 months. So then i get them off and i get my permanent retainers on, mind you by this time I've had like 4 new orthos bc they constantly had different ones. This man was about 60 yrs old who did my permanent retainers. I got about a month and i start noticing I'm getting a gap in my front teeth, which I've never ever had before. I make an appointment, again different ortho that placed my retainers. He says give it 3 months it might start closing (don't understand his logic) but I'm not an ortho right so i trusted him. 3 months later gap still there just getting bigger. I got back they tell me i need the regular retainers and since i paid for permanent ones i don't have to pay for these. I get them after 4 weeks + gap is horrible. I wear them 24/7 only take them off to eat and the 30 mins i take them off my teeth split again WITHIN 30mins !. I'm mad at the fact that i went in with no gaps minor fixes and i leave with a huge gap in my front teeth and retainers help while they're on but as soon as i take them off to eat they start splitting again. Horrible don't come here there's better private practices. 100% do not recommend. I will be ditching this practice to go get braces all over again somewhere where they can actually fix there mistakes. read more

I came in and was treated with a great hello. The people at absolute dental work very hard to keep there clients happy and with a great smile. Lenny was the one who took me in and did my x-rays and took very good care of me, and even guided me throught the steps to keep my teeth clean. I'm very sad to report that we have not had great experience here. Everytime a bracket comes off, a day or two after we leave, they claim it is our fault when it is obviously the bond. They NEVER smile, always talk amongst themselves and hardly ever to us as patient's and parents. They rarely answer a question without an attitude. Its really too bad that a place who has the ability to be role models to so many children all day long can be allowed to be so awful with customer service. They are unprofessional and I'm disappointed that we have a contract with them. I wish I knew then what I know now, I would NEVER have brought my child here. read more

I am appalled! Your receptionist Lisa has single-handedly caused your office to lose a potential customers business. I called the office today to begin treatment with the office located on McCarran in Reno, Lisa was unable to have a professional conversation and actually hung up on me for no reason at all. When I tried to call the office back Lisa proceeded to hang up on me again. It is hard for me to believe that a professional office would knowingly employ such a person. This person has prevented your office from obtaining a new customer. I will be sharing my experience with everyone I know. Recently my top retainer broke so I came to this company to get it replaced. During my first visit, as I was getting my imprints done, I overhead the orthodontist, who was about three feet away from me, telling other patients that he didn't know who would spend the money to get a retainer replaced and that it is a waste of money. The orthodontist knew the reason for my visit that day and still decided to make me feel like I was making a bad decision. I left feeling very angry and stupid about the decision that I made. I wish that I would have walked out and not given them my money. I knew that I had to go back in about 4 weeks to pick up my retainer so I wanted to give them a second chance before I made a judgement about Artistic Orthodontics. As I went in to pick up my retainer I overheard the staff in the back talking about having sushi and getting drunk and going bowling as their plans for the weekend. It was only me and a father and his two daughters who were in at this time. As we were seated, two of the assistants were watching a video on one of their cell phones ignoring both me and the other patient. We just sat there while they laughed at the video. This assistant was joking about not allowing the other assistant to come to her house to get drinks while she was working on the other patient. I had to refrain myself from allowing my mouth to drop open. This place is EXTREMELY unprofessional. I will recommend for people to NOT come to this establishment. I hope that they take this feedback and start making some changes because I left both times in shock of how they talk to, about and around their patients. read more

Love coming here. They have done wonders for my kids and their orthodontic needs. Have seen a few main doctors rotate through, really like their newest doctor and hope that he sticks around for a while. The staff is nice and friendly, especially Leny. She is the nicest lady I've met there. I did have to reschedule an appointment the first time. When I came in the second time, there was a problem with the scheduling so I had to wait an hour to be seen, which I didn't mind. I am absolutely APPAULED at this office the staff is rude and uneducated. I have been waiting for 8 months for a prior authorization for my daughters braces that was supposedly not supposed to take longer than 6 months and then I call again and the time frame was changed to 1 year!!!! This is the most poorly managed office I have experienced in my life and I work in the medical field!! Never ever will I take my children back to this office!!! RIDICULOUS!!! read more

If you want a dentist that is family friendly then avoid this place like the plague. I bring in my toddler like I have for over a year and I use his playpen to keep him out of trouble. And in walks this I assume either a secretary or a dentist and asks me to just hold the toddler (easier said then done) and not use the playpen since they have limited space. I could understand that if they were busy but they had an empty lounge room with only 2 other people there. With over a dozen chairs and we were only using up 4 spaces in the corner while another 10 chairs were vacant. My suggestion for them is take a course on customer care! read more

Stay as far away from this office as you possibly can!!!!! i went in to get braces put on and my nose was a little stuffy as it is everyday, but i didn't think much about it. When i went in to get the braces actually put on, i did not have the orthodontist, i had the assistant. unbeknownst to me, i had enlarged turbinates in my sinuses which made me think my nose was "stuffy", but actually was blocking and constricting airflow. i also will add that I have NEVER had any issues with the dentist with this condition, So, I am sitting in the ortho chair to get my braces when the assistant put a block in my mouth to prop it open. This block pushed up on the top pallet of my mouth and with my turbinates being enlarged and my feet higher than my head, ended up cutting off my ability to breathe. i gagged for air; the assistant became furious and aggitated, which i do understand why, but c'mon, have a little control. At any rate, 'she angrily explained to me that I need to let her know if i cant breathe, So, when i couldn't breathe again, I put my finger up and she snapped at me, " I just can't stop right now" so i was shaking my finger at her with urgency and she scoffed at me and still wouldn't let me up to breathe. So, i finally tried to pop my top half of my body up because she would not listen and I straight up could not breathe! So, this woman, the assistant, put her hand on my chest and literally shoved me back down in my seat. At that moment her and I were in a power struggle for me to get up and her to keep me down as I was gasping for air and choking. furthermore, as I'm trying to get up because I could not breathe and was gasping, she yelled at the top of her lungs into the next room complaining about what I was doing to the actual orthodontist. Does it get any more dysfunctional, unprofessional or pathetic than that!!!!????? they wondered after what happened and I told them I COULD NOT BREATHE and that I had explained this to the assistant. i ran out of that office and never went back!!!! Two years later, I still don't have my braces; now my teeth are breaking and i cannot even get a common cold and a stuffy nose without having major axniety or panic attacks if my breathing is constricted at all thanks to the business!!!!!!! i should have known better. Even my dentist warned me about this place and said that they are definately affordable but don't do the best job and I will still need to get their work fixed later! read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Bauter. I have been coming to Artistic Ortho for about 4 years now (NO...I did not have to wear my braces that long!). On a friends recommendation I brought my daughter to them. This was at their old office. They were always helpful. While that office was a bit smaller than the one they are in now, waiting for our appointment did seem a little long at times, however I also knew that the amount of patients combined with the smaller waiting room would deem a little bit of a wait time. It was clear to me that if they didn't have so many patients, there wouldn't be a wait. For many, this can be frustrating however I took it to demonstrate their competence and professionalism. If they didn't have these things, there wouldn't be so many patients. Not all of us could be wrong! After my daughter got her braces off, I decided to get them on myself. Not only did they give me a discount because there were two of us in our family at their office, they also gave me a discount as a school district employee. Their payment plan was totally workable, interest free, and they did everything possible to make it as easy as possible for me to make this happen. As an adult, I think I may have had different expectations and they met every one of them. They moved to their new office (yes, with a larger waiting room) and they gained two new Orthodontists who were both kind and knowledgeable but mostly they were perfectionist. I say this in a good way. Dr. Askins was always kind and helpful and checked on me regularly. In the last year my appointments have just happened to be when Dr. Bauter has been there. Being an adult with expectations, he always assured me that there were no short cuts and he wants my teeth to be as straight and perfect as I do. If nothing else, I got this message again and again, that they are there with the same goal as mine. I know there have been other reviews that do not reflect them in this light and I also recognize that often times people will not take the time to write a review when things are great. It is always easy to reflect on the negative but in my experience, I have never seen or heard any of the things that were written about this office and these doctors. They have been nothing but professional and friendly and yes, at times they may have been a bit busy, but I never felt like I was not important or my questions were not answered. I have NEVER heard them talking about drinking and partying (and I work with adolescents so I am pretty in tune with this kind of talk) and I have NEVER seen Lisa or any of the other staff members be anything other thank kind. Point in fact, after I got my braces off, I needed to come back later that day or the next day to get my retainers as I was getting the essex ones (clear). Lana called me two hours later and told me she worked through her lunch hour to get mine done because she knew how excited I was and I took the day off so she wanted to get them done for me. I never expected this and she was so happy to see me and help me and mostly to see me happy. Lastly, in researching their costs vs. other places in town, they definitely are competitive and provided one of the best costs around. I have no reservations about recommending this office and these doctors and have referred them to others. I am thankful for everything they have done for me and my daughter and especially Dr. Bauter for working so hard to help me have a beautiful, straight, smile. I am forever grateful. read more
