What a joke. I'm in the market for a new psychiatrist due to the fact that my last psychiatrist was…read moreplaying fast and loose with my medications. Ever since the "Affordable Care Act," or Obamacare, as I prefer passed, finding one is next to impossible. So a family member and I started cold calling every one of them in the area to see if they are accepting patients. Today, I received a call back from this agency and the woman doing the call backs needs a little bit of training on the law and a bit of medical knowledge before calling people. Because, unfortunately for her and her agency, I have a background in clinical psychology and healthcare administration. Therefore, I know what's legal and what is not. Here's an example. She called and said she had heard that I was looking for a psychiatrist. I stated yes and then she said they had one accepting patients. I asked her who this person was and she stated they were a NP psychiatrist. Now before I go any further, I'll let you in on a little secret. NP, stands for Nurse Practitioner. It is illegal, in every state, to refer to yourself as a physician if you are a nurse. Do you know why? Because, nurses don't go to medical school. So what she was basically telling me was she had a nurse illegally pretending to be a Dr. who knows less about psychology/psychiatry than I do, who would be more than happy to do nothing for me for a few hundred bucks. When I called her out on this and said I need a real psychiatrist and have other medical issues that a nurse does not have the background to diagnose, treat, or legally prescribe medication for she got angry and said: "Well we could have helped you but...(I said thank you and hung up). There's a lot of this going around and for those who actually need help don't accept anything less than a physician. There was an interesting article in the New York Times a few years ago about this very issue. The nursing unions were pushing the medical industry around (as they like to do) and for once the establishment pushed back. They allowed NP's to take 1st year residency tests that all Dr.'s have to take. Their conclusion was that the nurses were failing them at over 90% rate. They also concluded that NP's refer patients at like a 10 to 1 ratio in comparison to physicians. I'm not on here to complain about nurses, they are a valuable part of the medical team. But they are not Dr.'s and if they want to be a Dr they need to go to medical school. This agency should be ashamed of itself. Playing fast and loose with people's mental health is no joke. And making money of falsifying your staff is disgusting. Get it together.

HORRENDOUS OFFICE AND STAFF-they do not care about their patients and are the most disorganized…read moreoffice I have ever seen in my 53 years on the planet. The turnover with doctors is every month as they don't seem to be able to keep providers. The ones they do have seem to be a very low caliber of professionals if you can even call them that. They dropped my daughter after shuffling her around for 4 months with NO REFERRAL to anyone else or even a phone call-Just a nasty email that her case was too complex and to go to social service and find someone else, we are done with you. Not even a grace period so I can find someone else to prescribe meds. What kind of concern is that for a child? My daughter's case was not even complex. FIND SOMEONE ELSE THAT ACTUALLY CARES AND HAS SOME CONSISTENCY.

10 stars**********!!!…read more I was entirely against psychiatric treatment because I believed all they did was prescribe medication without really considering or in-depth looking into someone's health. I was more than lucky to have been referred to Erik by a friend, and he has been nothing but a God-sent. Whether you are religious, gay, or atheist, Erik treats you with the most respect. He has treated all of my diagnoses with tender care. I have now seen Erik for over three years, and it has transformed my life. Erik makes me feel like I have a caring family member that I've never had. Erik builds relationships where you feel safe and gives hope that better days are to come. Erik takes the time to describe any medication you have questions about and will do his best to work with you. He has made me feel that my health is his priority. Before I met Erik, I was struggling with severe depression. Though I may have hypomanic episodes from time to time that causes depression, with his help, I can confidently say I was able to overcome the severity of it in 2020, along with alcoholism and other things. Erik has helped me do my everyday task with comfortability. The amount of appreciation I have for Erik is not enough said in words. He has a talent that I can only imagine how many he has impacted. The bottom line is that we need more psychiatric's/people; like Erik, he is one of a kind, and I would follow his practice wherever he went.

I had to find a new provider after working with someone for years who no longer took my insurance,…read moreand I was feeling pretty defeated trying to find someone who actually listens and works alongside you. I'm really grateful I was recommended Erik. It was easy to get an appointment, and the paperwork was simple. He had already reviewed my chart notes and bloodwork ahead of time, which made a big difference. My appointment was longer than expected in a good way, and I felt genuinely understood. The intake was efficient and very thorough, and he validated how I was feeling instead of making me feel unheard or judged. As someone who works in mental health, I really value a collaborative approach, and that's exactly how this felt. I would absolutely refer my own clients to him as well. Overall, very high quality care with a low barrier to access.
